That was cool. Its been a while since I saw all the great fan art for the WOT out there. Thanks for that, and thanks for including one of my pieces in this movie! -rob christianson
Books 7-10 were kind of snoozers. But Knife of Dreams was pretty awesome, no? I find out that this guy reviewed a copy of Part 1 of A Memory of Light: The Gathering Storm, and he said that it's as good as TEotW, TGH, TSR, and FoH. He said there are some moments where it's like Dumai's Wells again! You can look it up on Dragonmount. The reviewer didn't spoil much. As a matter of fact, he practically didn't spoil anything, so I suggest you read the review.
I know, right? My advice is to get through Book 7-10 as fast as you can. Those books are a snore-fest and could have been combined into one book. I'm trying to speed through those books until I get to Book 11(Book 11 was pretty awesome from what I heard. I guess it's just that people were outraged when comparing that book to the others). The first six books were flawless though.
Have recently started to read this book serie and love it! Had to, as I read Robert Jordan died in the same disease I got, Multipel Myeloma. Please give money for the research! We want to live! (and I have so many books left to reed)
I agree, if it were done as an series more time could be spent on insuring the story was done right.(say 25 episodes a season with each season being roughly about 2 to 3 books)
If the books were done as films only it would take way too long to complete and the actors would be too old for the parts by then.
And yes, it would have to be big budget, tho it can be done.(ie: ron moore's bsg)
Perhaps it could be like Season 1 focusing on the first three books. Season 2 on Book 4-6, Season Three on Book 7-11(to pick up the pace considering that the books after Book 6 are more thinking and not doing, excluding Book 11, of course) and Season 4 as a Memory of Light(both Part 1-3). Maybe a separate series focusing on Prequels and Outriggers.
I gotta admit, I was really disappointed at the fact that they were making it into a movie and not a solid HBO series like what's happening with A Song of Ice and Fire series(George R. R. Martin)
while Tom was an awesome character, he wasnt important to the story, so it didnt do any good to put him in. as it were, the movies were really long, and extremely close to the books. I do wish they had added him in the extended, but I understand why they didnt.
Hmm love the books and can't wait for the next one some of this art i absolutely love and some of it i hate it seems that the artist incorporated what they want to be in some of the pictures.
Brandon Sanderson is writing the next book, a memory of light. By he way, I'm not saying this art is crap. It's bloody awesome! It does the series great credit.
There was a review conducted on The Gathering Storm(Part 1 of a Memory of Light) and the critic said that it was just as good as Book 2, 4, 5(he had permission to review a copy of it)
Let's hope that the movie is better than Eragon. God, that movie was horrible...
I'd hope the guys would get someone like Peter Jackson to direct it, since Jackson did Lord of the Rings (And did a bloody good job, as well!), and hopefully a very, VERY large budget.
The only reason it would be hard to make one of these books a movie, though, is that if they leave even one detail out of the story, it could leave out something in the end that was very important.
i really hope that when they pick actors out, that they take into consideration what the characters become later on. Rand starts out as a normal dude, but he becomes very dark and arrogant, and somewhat insane. I think Hayden Christenson would be good. It would be pretty cool too if Natalie Portman played Egwene. I just hope they don't make it gay...
Amen to that, I so feverently want them to take their time and give credit to how great a story it is. I don't want to see a highlight reel. I want the movies to be something I'll want to buy.
And of course they better pick hotties for the girl leads.
They completely DESTROYED Eragon... if they do that to WoT people will RIOT! Anyway, if they are going to get all the detail in they'd need a movie per book, and each would have to be like 4 hours. As long as a good producer like Jackson does it there is still hope.
Like I said, they are gonna need an HBO Series to do this. I mean, I like the fact that Red Eagle Entertainment is planning to bring all these WoT merchandise and games(the story writer will be Chris Morgan), but there is just too much going on in the series. If anything, they should have made Eragon into a solid TV series, not some movie slapped on with special effects to make it look good. Damn, Hollywood is frustrating some times! Who here saw Dragonball Evolution?
I not sure what your talking about becuase no one is makin a movie universal has the rights to but i dont think they will NBC has had the rights to a mini series since the early 2000s and still hasent started it
Eragon wasn't like that. It's not like Peter Jackson is doing the movie anyway. I'll have faith in Red Eagle Entertainment, but how do we know there is gonna be a big budget like the Lord of the Rings trilogy? How do we know how Universal Studios treats the series? It could turn out like Eragon for all we know. Plus, there are tons of stuff going on in the series. How are they going to fit it all in a movie? They had to split the Lord of the Rings into three parts. Three parts!
Yeah Eragon sucked and Narnia too.....but They can make for every book a movie I am sure.... like they did with Harry Potter....Thats not a big problem I think...
I'm just worried because there is so much going on in the series, and I'm still not sure if they could fit it into one movie. Hmmm, well, I'm sure a picture is worth a thousand words, but what about Book 5 and 6? From then on, there are lots of characters and subplots going on the become important to the series later on. I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved Book 5, 6 and 11, but I'm not sure if they could pull it off, you know what I mean?
I think I get it ....but If they make it like the lord of the rings I will be very happy...Because when we talk about fantasy movies .....The lord of the rings is the only movie that I can think of....They should make more real fantasy movies ....not shit like narnia and eragon...I am happy that they are making "The hobbit" next year too...
Same here. But that's the thing. Not many people want it to be like the Lord of the Rings. That's what everyone is afraid of. People who've never read the series that see the movie might as well think of Fades as Ring-wraiths. It'll be too easy to mistake the atmosphere of WoT for LotR. That's a major obstacle that Red Eagle Entertainment has got to overcome. There is a significant difference between the two, but I'm not sure everyone who hasn't read the book will really see it.
M'eh, Universal Studios has always been a hit-n-miss company. As a matter of fact, I have a feeling it's going to be one of those movies where they butcher out the original content and when everybody sees the Wheel of Time as a movie, they'll be like, "OMG, this is going to be so epic!" They go to see the movie. They spend their hard earned money. They come out miserable and who comes out rich and happy, but Hollywood. Bottomline: Hollywood just wants your money.
its funny how all these images youve put onto paper are the very same images i had in my mind, even to Faile, and who i took to be Rhuarc? Rhuidean was fuckin fantastic. The Aiel whomever it was also. youve done RJ justice, and all WOT readers. my point is that RJ was a brilliant man, who painted this awesome scene in all our minds, it was never just a story but a detailed landscape of the world and the characters in it. tell ya wat LOTR and Harry Potter. WOT hits prime time? All bets are off.
screw a mini series if they made the potter books into a move they can make these books into a movie shit id pay over twenty dollars for a ticket to see it to cover the cost of making it into a masterpiece
might not be as good but I bet Robert Jordan got a say in who would finish the book.If he trusts him to do it then the guy must know how to write good.
Actually, RJ left so many notes and stuff behind so Brandon Sanderson (the guy who's finishing the series) isn't gonna have to do much more than to fill the pages with RJ's stuff
It was actually Harriet, RJ's wife, who decided that BS was going to finish the books. From the beginning it was supposed that Harriet herself was to finish them.
i thought the series was amazing, lving the wheen of time, reading tKoD at min. the pictures get beter towards the end it think, i really like the Aiel pic! good slide
Are you brain dead?? The world is full of books to read. You, on the other hand, should invest in the CD books and listen to them for the rest of your life or until you grow up.
I hate the mindset of those that would waste their lives on literature that is nonconstructive. It's fantasy, folks.
Robert Jordan you will always be my hero and my inspiration, words can not express my admiration for your brilliance and your courage. You will never be forgotten and history will not let you slip away. The great ones do not fade away. Your world is eternal.
I'm sorry to see him pass, but this series should have ended 7 books ago and one thousand :"
she tugged her braid and pouted" ago. So unfortunate for a series that started out so promising, but I grew bored, and moved on and this series continued to drag on, RIP Wheel of Time....
I disagree. The series did drop on action quite abit since the first three books but thats to be expected. The series is still good just because it gets into politics. It really shows alot of development for Rand which I find is interesting. His wife better have the last book written.
You use so many artists. So many of them are my friends and collegues. Please, please give them credit. Ideally, you'd ask and get written permission before posting any of their work at all. But at the very least, indentify them. They have worked so so hard.
Very cool stuff! You expressed exactly what everybody prays for! I think the music should be a bit more epic... Anyway it was cool! I don't think anyone can compare WOT with Harry Potter! Let's be reasonable now. Harry Potter= a story about a young wizard with NO point at all that gained billions! Each book is a seperate story with NO evolution. WOT= the most extraordinary work of epic fantasy ever published. A world so real, so rich in detail and complexity it is printed to your memories!
If you like Wheel of Time i recommend you read Well of Echoes Trilogy It is by far better seriously, It wins hands down and im a big Robert Jordan fan!!!
I have never read this series but I have herd nothing but great things about it... Now with Harry Potter coming to an end I'll need something new to read so Ive desided to try out this series. Quick question... im not really too sure of how the plot works but dose it have any similarities to Lord of the Rings? It looks awesome though.
It's fairly similar to LOTR, but only along fantasy plot lines. It's much more emotionally intense than LOTR, and though slightly less complete (Tolkien actually created 4 languages....:o) as a world, it's definitely one of those books that you won't be able to put down!! Check it out!! Oh, and if you're one of those get-to-the-book-store-at-midnight-to-get-book-7 people...yay for you! *laughs* Good luck reading WOT. ^~ It's worth getting.
I too will be queueing up on the 20th ar midnight to get the harry potter book, can't wait!! lol. I can't recomment WoT enough, in all honesty I would say it is a better fantasy book than LOTR, in fact there are perhaps 4 or 5 series i would say are better than LOTR however, it has a specal place in my mind as it was the first great fantasy epic and of its time.
You know, ever since I started reading this series, 5 years ago, I have expressed fear that he would not live to finish the series. Not because I knew he was sick, but because the series is such a complicated behemoth. I'm sending him good thoughts.
I really love this series, among all the fantasy series i have read and there have been hundreds it is by far my favourite. I read this series a few years ago and have read a lot of others since then so the am not completely up to date so i downloaded all the audio books and listened to the entire series all over again I would def recommend this to all wot fans!
JORDAN WE PRAY FOR YOUR WELL BEING lol JORDAN WE PRAY THAT YOU LEAVE OUT ALL THE EXCRUCIATING LITTLE DETAILS FROM THE NEXT BOOK AND MAKE IT AS ACTION PACKED AS THE FIRST ONE, THE LAST BOOK WAS LIKE A KICK IN THE BALLS, YEP STRAIGHT SHOT IN THE BALLS, EXCRUCIATING PAIN,AMEN
I have to agree with you, book 11 was pretty good but my god book 10 was bad. Come to think of it, i think im starting to see a trend in his books. Its almost as if Robert Jordan is writing his books in a way that would be easy to convert into a film or a tv series. Does anyone agree?
I mean if you look at book 10 it is full of intricate little details such as people drinking tea, what colour were the tea cups, how much sugar, how did it taste like , blady blady blah...i could go on all day. Its almost like hes providing the details which would make wheel of time appealing to film makers and as such make him more money even after book sales decrease. But im just speculating...or am i?
Yeah...this is one of those books that gets better further into the series!! This song matches what happens to the main character, Rand al'Thor later on. *smiles* but i won't spoil it for you.
It could only be done as a series. A movie would be overpriced and would have to cut too much out.

I dont really know why, but I would really like to see the books as movies even though I know they can never live up to my expectations.
I just finished the 11th book which as quite a few awesome moments though very few from Rand's point of view.
I have to say that the only book I didn't really like was a Crossroads of Twilight because it doesn't really happen anything in it.

It actually feels as if someone I know has died. R.I.P RJ. I wish so badly the WoT series were completed. The vid's awesome btw.

I'm sorry to see him pass, but this series should have ended 7 books ago and one thousand :"
she tugged her braid and pouted" ago. So unfortunate for a series that started out so promising, but I grew bored, and moved on and this series continued to drag on, RIP Wheel of Time....

So true, How many skirts can be arranged, pitchers of spiced wine chilled, trollocs killed, novices beat or meaningless plots schemed?
You would think this guy died in IRAQ fighting in that stupid war. They get no fanfare.
It kind of puts peoples priorities in he wrong place.

I disagree. The series did drop on action quite abit since the first three books but thats to be expected. The series is still good just because it gets into politics. It really shows alot of development for Rand which I find is interesting. His wife better have the last book written.

In loving memory of Robert Jordan, the greatest high-fantasy author since Tolkien. He passed away yesterday at the age of 58.

I'm sorry to say this, but Robert Jordan die this night.

I know...I actually cried.
I love him and I love Wheel of Time.
But mostly I loved Moiraine...and the thought of her never coming back to life just kills me.
Maybe if he had cut down on pointless side plots and braid tugs, he would have finished the series.

Please.....

Creeping66 4 years ago
That was cool. I have many of those pictures, and I really liked how you put them together. I absolutely love WoT!

I applaud the idea behind the video. :)
However, I see no artistic credits. In talking with several of the artists, you did not gain persmission.
We all wish the best for Jim.
Please consider the work done by artists and ask their permission and credit them when reposting their work. :(

I have never read this series but I have herd nothing but great things about it... Now with Harry Potter coming to an end I'll need something new to read so Ive desided to try out this series. Quick question... im not really too sure of how the plot works but dose it have any similarities to Lord of the Rings? It looks awesome though.
HarryPotterFanClub 4 years ago
It's fairly similar to LOTR, but only along fantasy plot lines. It's much more emotionally intense than LOTR, and though slightly less complete (Tolkien actually created 4 languages....:o) as a world, it's definitely one of those books that you won't be able to put down!! Check it out!! Oh, and if you're one of those get-to-the-book-store-at-midnight-to-get-book-7 people...yay for you! *laughs* Good luck reading WOT. ^~ It's worth getting.
SnapeSoul 4 years ago
lol yeah Ive been at the midnight release of Harry Potter sence book 4... I'll have to definatly check out these books.
HarryPotterFanClub 4 years ago

I really love all this art work, does anyone know where i can see more? I already have the 'world of wheel of time' encyclopedia

JORDAN WE PRAY FOR YOUR WELL BEING lol JORDAN WE PRAY THAT YOU LEAVE OUT ALL THE EXCRUCIATING LITTLE DETAILS FROM THE NEXT BOOK AND MAKE IT AS ACTION PACKED AS THE FIRST ONE, THE LAST BOOK WAS LIKE A KICK IN THE BALLS, YEP STRAIGHT SHOT IN THE BALLS, EXCRUCIATING PAIN,AMEN
bebomania 4 years ago
*laughs* I liked book 11...but book 10 was the worst. My favorite was the fifth one. ^_~
SnapeSoul 4 years ago
I have to agree with you, book 11 was pretty good but my god book 10 was bad. Come to think of it, i think im starting to see a trend in his books. Its almost as if Robert Jordan is writing his books in a way that would be easy to convert into a film or a tv series. Does anyone agree?
bebomania 4 years ago
I mean if you look at book 10 it is full of intricate little details such as people drinking tea, what colour were the tea cups, how much sugar, how did it taste like , blady blady blah...i could go on all day. Its almost like hes providing the details which would make wheel of time appealing to film makers and as such make him more money even after book sales decrease. But im just speculating...or am i?

*laughs* np, your reply was just as fast. ^^
Yeah...this is one of those books that gets better further into the series!! This song matches what happens to the main character, Rand al'Thor later on. *smiles* but i won't spoil it for you.
Have fun reading!!
