My first trip on the Feather River (by car) was in 1947, when I was 5. I have always loved that area. Riding the Western Pacific (now Union Pacific) or traveling by car was very enjoyable. One hot August day (104 degrees) my wife asked me to stop so she could wade in the Feather River. I told her the water is very cold as it is from runoff in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She got her feet wet and broke the worlds record for getting out of the water. It was about 32.02 degrees. :)
All the early descriptions of the building of the Western Pacific Railroad refer to those mountains as still being in the Sierra range.

I've been here and come every summer since I was a baby, but just a question, Is the Feather River Canyon in the Sierra Nevada
mountain range? sometimes it doesn't seem like it.
