I'm really tired of people hating on Mike Byrne. He's got more skill than I could ever hope to have. I doubt Billy would pick a young kid out of all the amazing, seasoned drummers that tried out, if he wasn't amazing. Jimmy is irreplaceable, and I guarantee Mike will tell you that right off. But he's not trying to replace him. Let him do his thing, haters cause he's doing it a heck of a lot better than you would be.

This new drummer sucks. He don't play the part in cut time on the high hat and rimshots like Jimmy did. It sounds like shit the way he plays it. And the tempo is too fast. As a drummer I have to say I miss Jimmy Chamberlain.

@necropolis3110 dude, he literally plays the rimshot part exactly the way jimmy chamberlain played it. like, note for note. I thought that when i watched the video, and then i went back and checked to make sure. also, who cares! John bonham didn't play black dog (or most of the zeppelin songs) the same way live as he did in the studio, and that didn't bother anyone. Mike byrne is a different dude, and he plays it a little differently, but BASICALLY THE SAME.

By the way, when I met Billy Corgan in 2010, I gave him a record of my band that has a mix of old & fresh sound and he adored it (pls. don´t miss the "in the future" video in my channel) BEST REGARDS! :)

I was just watching the same song from a performance in Germany, 1997. D'arcy looked bored, James looked like he hated life, and Jimmy had left and been replaced with that horrible Kenny Aronoff and a percussionist. Mike was still in Kindergarten at that time. Then I saw the new lineup in Tucson last year... WOW. Talk about a rebirth. Thank God for the new lineup. Seriously. I love a little FEELING and PASSION in my music, and they bring that to the table.

Billy tried to bring the old members back for the reunion but James Iha, Darcy Wretzky, and Melissa Auf Der Maur (her solo music is great check it out if you haven't already) said they didn't want to come back. In 2009 Jimmy Chamberlain (The Jimmy Chamberlain Complex was great, Skysaw is horrible)left because a fortuneteller told him he would be better off making his own music. They left him and that gives him the right to continue on as the soul surviver of The Smashing Pumpkins.
