DisasterArea are generally held to be not only the loudest rock band in the Galaxy, but in fact the loudest noise of any kind at all. Regular concert-goers judge that the best sound balance is usually to be heard from within large concrete bunkers some thirty-seven miles from the stage, whilst the musicians themselves play their instruments by remote control from within a heavily insulated spaceship which stays in orbit around the planet or more frequently around a completely different planet.
@LPJeetkunedo - at least half an hour though it was kind of trance inducing so it's hard to say exactly. Loudest thing I've ever heard, was shell shocked for hours afterwards.
i was at this gig, and it's all very well and good doing all that 'fuck you all' tosh, but to be honest, i was wasn't one of the chin strokers and would've preferred to've heard a few other of my favourite songs by them in the time it took them to wank off for this long. although having said that, it WAS a fucking amazing gig, and i will love my bloody valentine till i die - i just can't be arsed with this nonsense.
I was at this show sat on the balcony in the center. It actually felt like the whole building was going to colapse. It was vibrating the chair, floor and walls around us and making my hair blow! Beyond amazing!!!
this is like amazing. like some have said here, its not actually "music" but more of an expiereince. the feeling was aamzing. and i agree with pete completely, thats how i felt when i saw them in chicago.
In answer to your first question the thousands of people who came to saw them I guess.
I enjoyed it. Yes, its not 'music' but there was musical activity and progression and it was an incredible thing to experience - physically overwhelming and capable of inducing a sort of trance state where you lost sense of time and place in a way that no other noise act I've seen have managed.
sorry pete, i really am sorry, i was horribly drunk earlier and have now sobered and have no idea why im still awake. once again, sorry. it was a great show, nothing much to loose was best song of the night in my opinion, the noise was very insane.
what a show. they had to stop halfway through because some guy called pete manning 1975 or summet did a massive shit on the floor so the bouncers and i kicked him out kicked im in his stinky unwashed teeth for 6 and a half minutes then spat on him till he cried then went to his house, realised it stank and swiftly returned to the show.
was a really amazing show. the english use to torture the irish using immense white sound techniques like that for hours, it can send a person insane very quickly. alot of people were covering thier ears
and now the irish torture the english with it. revenge.
I didn't see anyone covering their ears at the Manchester show but heard it was louder than the London shows where they did cover their ears. what does that say? (other than e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e- for the rest of your life?)
I was there and I swear that was the most unbelievable thing I have ever heard. No one can agree on an actual figure, but it was at least 25 minutes (probably even longer!).
The noise didn't fade out either - it phased between different sounds but the volume stayed relentlessly high. More than anything it's the power of the sound that causes it to be such an amazing experience...

This must obliterate your ears.
I MUST SEE THEM.
Also, I noticed you said "the first five minutes" of the noise holocaust.... how long did this go on for?

earplugs don't even lessen the sound one iota. they're worthless against this sonic onslaught of awesome and overwhelming noise. best. show. ever.

At the L.A. show, an ambulance showed. Not exactly sure why, but it mighta had something to do with the Holocaust. I loved it though!!

I was there. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure my ears actually started bleeding by the end of the show. It was amazing.
