One doesn't win olympic gold to be a true champion. One must win numerous titles, have a record score, and must be determined to be the best. The one that deserved not to be the best is Tonya Harding. Nancy Kerrigan is certainly not the best skater in her class, but she is no worse than the others. Michelle Kwan is better than the multitude of skaters currently out there.
Omg this really hit the spot. She is so real and honest to her sport, and what a great character. Wow...michelle makes me proud to be a chinese girl raised by immigrant parents.
@winkiiV she and i have so much in common. I figure skated, we have the same middle chinese character in our name, we are both the youngest of three children, we both are born in HK and grew up in North America, and we both have hearts on ice!
@saveangel What do you expect her to plan to lose? She was the favorite and had also skated to that song before. Not to mention how many times she won the gold medal at the World Championships, U.S. Championships, etc.

She flopped up for the SECOND time and made off with Sasha's bronze with an easy, safe program that she still managed to messed up. Oh and that 98 program that I liked that she re-skated to in 02, that sucked and did NOT deserve 1st.
And Christine Brennan says it all.."You say to people on the street name a figure skater, and I think very often they will tell you 'Michelle Kwan'. Even without Olympic gold medals."
Expectations? Oh pullllease....the only expectation she had was to be given as in given the Gold medal. She didn't bother to up the ante and she is so phony.sooooooooo phony. That was/is Sasha Cohen's bronze medal and her short program puke up from 1998 sucked...the judges gifted her with first. ONE mistake??? People pity Kwan and she needs it..she is so pathetic. Loved? Pitied is more like it.
the feeling that winning the gold medal isn't the only thing is her biggest win! I adore Michelle! Her realization and moving on with life is so great and inspiring!

The narrator was wrong. She skated to Fields of Gold several times before the Olympics. She did not choose that music b/c she thought she would win.

The narrator in the video said "Fields of Gold" was a number she had planned in advance. Doesn't this show how full of herself she is?

She didn't make exactly ONE mistake in her 4 Olympic perfomances...
In 1998 her LP had a shakey 3 flip
In 2002 she two-footed a 3 toe-loop...you could also say her 3-flip in the SP was less than perfect...
