  • And mainly a cooler filled with ice would be so much more efficient, but since he replied to my last comment on the other vid with so much confidence I'm gonna be the asshole that proves his cooling idea is a bust.

  • Ha! He could remove the a/c condenser and fan and I'd be willing to bet the temp of the water at the bottom of the barrel being sucked up by the pump would be the exact same as it is with all that mess. As a matter of fact if he gives me the details of his set up. ( gallons of water, length and diameter of the water supply line, length of pipe being heated, and gallons per hr being pumped) I'll post a vid with and without that garbage and prove it's a waste of space and electricity.

  • great idea about cooling , but i think you have to hook up the bottom (lowest pipe) of your condenser (not the coiled pipe in the actual head) to the bottom of the radiator and the top of the radiator as your outlet back to the drum and the pump outlet to the top part of the condenser (witch is the actual strait copper pipe),think the logic way .Just trying to correct your cooling setup, keep up the good work and let me know what you think, cheers mate

  • @danssv8

As with ANY reflux still, when the vapors arrive at the top of the column they are cooled by cold water passing through in order to create the reflux action of a reflux still. This is not a pot still but indeed a reflux still, So Danssv8 "think the logic way" before you try to make people you don't even know look stupid. do some research!

  • Don't exactly form an idea of the secondery coil inside the actual head, can't figure out the soul purpose of it as the coil does'nt touch the actual head it self , but don' seem to get it , it wil only heat the water very rapedly not doing condensing at all, think about the logic of it.The other one is the actual condence pipe that is hooked up on the radiator thats a cool idea.good tip for cooling

  • When I first saw your Vid...I knew how this setup worked. Fuck the idiots who don't understand...they don't need to be distilling anyway. Keep up the good work!!!

  • Chur cuz wead u find the cooling head?

  • Salvage cooler..i luv it..whats your tower packed with?

  • @GreenOuthouse

Cheers mate, The tower is packed with glass marbles and stainless steel wool in 3 inch each all the way from top to bottom, makes for a really good reflux action.

  • can u buy this set up or did u make it your self

  • hey can u explain how to make the alcohol and perhaps your setup too, in detail

  • IF YOU HAVE A RAD THEN YOUR SYSTEM SHOULD BE A CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM.... LIKE A CAR... U STILL HAVE A BUCKET OF WATER JUST LIKE ANY OTHER STILL WOULD HAVE... I AM GONNA TAKE THIS IDEA AND MAKE IT A CLOSED LOOP.... THANKS FOR THE IDEA...

  • @AT4AFT20

I dont think your plan will work mate, the water in th 250lt barrel gets hotter even with the radiator, and hot water wont cool the still. nit sure how you intend to do this....

  • @AT4AFT20 caps make you tough

  • yoor accents weird like half weegie half new zelander

  • @TamTheToff

came tae NZ when a was just 16, so been here 12 year And I tried tae make it clear and easy for toff's tae understand ye ken? Am a Clydebank bhoy maself.

  • @scottsbutcher glad ti hear it mate, glad ti see yi carryin oan the nativ trades world wide, n its so typical yanks wid hink yi actualy passed yur gear thru the radiator lol

  • @TamTheToff Oi, most of us here across the pond have been spoon fed Bullshit "Make you go Blind" stories Since we had prohibition in the 20's ...Sadly most American Don't even Know how the spirits they drink are made ..All they know is if you try to make it yourself you'll go blind..... typical propaganda :(

  • I understand the cooling but I haven't figured where your boiler (brew boiler) is. Is it that 4 inch pipe I saw below the copper doam?

  • @SidneyBou

the boiler is in the 25 litre barrel under the reflux tower. the pipe is the part where the reflux action takes place and the copper head is for cooling and condencing. The boiler barrel has a kettle like element inside it.

    Hope this helps.

  • good man, im going to imitate this, question: does the water cool right down using this setup or does it stedily get warmer? and what is your flow rate roughly?

  • @jpurkiss11 It does work very very well. Now being a reflux still there are two seperate condencers to cool, but your one may be a looped setup. I only cool the water from the "head or reflux condenser" and the water from the secondary condenced just gets pumped back around into the barrel and the other goes through the cooler. As the water does come out the still really hot before it enters the cooler there is a very small increase of around 2 c or so. Hope this helps.

  • thanks, 2deg c isnt bad aye, i suppose i would just compensate by increasing flow rate towards the end (once again im impressed, it seems a waste all that fresh water just going down the sink). also, when it comes to your wash, have you tried both dextrose and castor sugar? and is there a significant difference in yeild between the two? its hard to find decent info on this matter

  • @jpurkiss11 Don't increase the rate of water or this will slow your still to a drip, you always want to adjust the water in the off direction until the temp is just maintained and there is a really nice flow of grog. As for suger I just use 8kg of standard white sugar from the foodtown, the homebrand stuff. And 1 pack of alcotec 48 turbo yeast for 1 week then clear using turbo clear. I'm on my sceond still of the day at the moment :-) That gets me 5.5lt @ 94 on my express still in 3 hours. K

  • Sweat setup

  • nice setup and thanks for posting. Does NZ require permits and so forth like here in the US?

  • @jwalk1014 You don't need permits here in the US. Only if you sell/distribute it.

  • ahhhhhhhhhh. I WAS WONDERING WTF!

  • Respekt from a German/Irish brewer & maltster....sláinte!
