  • I am guessing that the 'Intercity' services here in this video were used for the London Waterloo-Exeter St Davids route. Is this correct?

  • @uhegbu If you're referring to the 47/8s and the Mk2s I'm guessing they're Cross Country NW/SE route. I used to take it from Coventry to Southampton

  • Oh how i wish to celbrate the 25th Anniversay of NSE for 1 week they would return to that traction! (sadly not enough slamdoor trains left (and the fact they are not allowed on the mainline anymore) Kinda puts a raincloud over the idea! :(

  • Is that Skyline Plaza? 0.o

Looks the same as it does now!

  • I don't know who removed badstyle84's comment but it wasn't me. I was just about to though. I apologise to anyone who saw this idiots comments. There's always one it seems.

  • Stereo camcorder? In 1991? I'm impressed!

  • station doesnt change much in 18 years

  • the 47 really was king, some great clag. nice video definately 5*

  • 2 months later im watching it again!

  • Abosloutley fantastic! I was definatley born too late!

  • 3:13 lol what i dont get is that like last year near the end the fast trains started not to stop at basingstoke and go through yet there used to be every train stopping

  • SWT's Weymouth line services seem to alternate: stopping either at Winchester and Woking; missing out Basingstoke entirely, or running from Basingstoke non-stop through to Waterloo. It's probably done to try to encourage passengers onto the underused stopping trains to Waterloo. In reality, stoppers still run fast from Woking; stopping only at Surbiton, Wimbledon and Clapham. I'm afraid that's the trouble with living so close to London but, still, all the Exeter line trains stop there.

  • In an age where "real" trains have almost disappeared it's great to see such excellent archive footage. Thanks for posting this

  • Legendary, I cant stop watching it!

  • wow how good did the Wessies look in NSE livery :D the new GatEx livery looks pretty gud aswell

  • very good quality footage, unbelievable it's 17 years old

  • Wow Basingstoke actually had long passenger trains unbelievable

  • Mint :)

  • Excellent... High 5

  • Another top video, everything in it is history (except Basingstoke) even the 442s are stored now!
