Probably the idea is while it is below 9000 degrees in any scale, that's just the failure point of the arwing. The ship can take lesser temperatures for a longer period of time, evident by being able to go through a five minute level with potentially little damage (provided you got shield rings and whatnot)

The boss of this level has a really rough attack if you let it stay in its de-clawed state. He twirls around and causes those fire things that spew out of his arms to swirl around. Its really hard to explain, but he basically makes a massive cyclone around his body by doing that.
Hmm, well, when I played this level, it did seem more like a planet than a sun.
One bit of dialog from slippy you can get if you take too much damage from the beginning is; The temperature is 6000 and climbing.
Anyway, my theory is, that having a bio weapon in that planet/star would be too dangerous, considering it could alter Solar into being a threat to nearby planets by altering solars temperature, or flinging huge rocks at katina or corneria.
I hate this level almost as much as you do. But, I have to admit, for an idiot like me for this game, I have trouble with Titania's boss. Although, it reminds me a lot of the Boss in Fortuna in the SNES.
Actually, they probably do have air conditioning, since heat buildup is a serious problem in space (no conduction from contact and poor convection since there's no currents). However, YOU'RE FLYING ON THE SURFACE OF THE SUN.

slar is just one of two star in the lylat system. the other being lylat is the primary star (even though not mapped) is where the star system's namesake comes from. it is considerably hotter than solar.you can see it from a planets atmosphere to see a bright yellow star instead of red.
I'm guessing there's more gas to burn in the atmosphere. Space isn't a perfect vacuum, there are many gasses. (some of which I guess react adversely to heat, or are flammable)
Also from the looks of it Solar is made up of lava, which would only be 1,000 to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, because superheated gas on the "surface" of a star wouldn't act like the surface of Solar does.

Yeah sorry about that, I try to pick a decent color but it just wasn't possible a lot of times. I was using windows movie maker at the time, and whatever team of idiots designed it never thought to include borders for subtitles.
The player's guide calls it a red dwarf, and the temperature they list matches that of a Class M star. Our sun is a Class G. Classifications range from O, B, A, F, G, K, to M, with O being the hottest and M being the coolest.
Stellar classification letters can be confusing since they are a leftover of an old classification system that is no longer used since it was based on a different theory or something (where the letters were actually in order).
Astronomy also still uses some old non-metric or non-standard measurements like arc seconds in combination with normal degrees (in the form of declination and right ascention). It can be confusing to say the least.
I've never heard our sun called a yellow dwarf, and I took several college astronomy classes. The sun is actually larger than most stars (vast majority are red dwarfs I believe) but no where near the largest stars can get.

In Sonic, the rings are literally your life and you can grab them again after damage.
In Star Fox, the rings just fill your life bar. Your life bar isn't a total of rings, They are closer to Mario's coins in Mario 64 then Sonic rings.

Stellar classification letters can be confusing since they are a leftover of an old classification system that is no longer used since it was based on a different theory or something (where the letters were actually in order).
Astronomy does that a lot.

Astronomy also still uses some old non-metric or non-standard measurements like arc seconds in combination with normal degrees (in the form of declination and right ascention). It can be confusing to say the least.

Well actually our sun is a Yellow Dwarf. It's very small, for a star, but still pretty hot compared to Red Dwarfs.
I don't think arwings would survive on our sun either.

I've never heard our sun called a yellow dwarf, and I took several college astronomy classes. The sun is actually larger than most stars (vast majority are red dwarfs I believe) but no where near the largest stars can get.
