My 2 cents: I've tried everything on this earth before i finally quit. IMO if you have not already quit but will do so, there is zero reason not to take nicotine replacement. There really is zero reason to go cold turkey it will just make you put it off for ages. E-cigarettes (like totally wicked tornado or other BIG ones) are fantastic- first tthey replasced 50, then 75 then 85 % of the cigarettes I smoked over 5 months. And one day I just gave up both and it was 5x easier than cold turkey
@forestskog Worst. Advice. Ever. In fact, everything you wrote is 100% opposite of the truth:
1) "there is zero reason not to take nicotine replacement". Wrong- nicotine replacements aren't quitting, they're just changing how you get the nicotine. All they do is prolong the (sometimes) difficult withdrawal stage.
2) "There really is zero reason to go cold turkey it will just make you put it off for ages". Wrong. Anyone who goes cold turkey will be completely free of nicotine in 72 hours.
@forestskog 3) So, it took you 5 months to quit nicotine, and you don't think that's putting off quitting??? When I quit cold turkey, I QUIT that day, not 5 miserable months and all that patch money later. And guess what, it was easy. I had a few cravings for the first few days and they only lasted 60 seconds. As long as you remember that the cravings don't last long and stop altogether in 2 weeks you can quit cold turkey.
If you'd made it 72 hrs cold T you wouldn't have needed the patch.
I was so addicted to cigarettes from 16 to 35. No way to count the number of times I tried and failed. I quit sev. times for about 6 months and was GREAT and what would always get me is when I would be at a party and a little drunk and took 'just one puff.' But this time I beat it forever since 1 year. What helped me is during the 6 month non smoking stints I actually gained memories and references to compare life smoking or not. And not smoking (+ workouts) is TEN times better.
In reference to habits, sometimes applying a substitute response is good, but of course, as just with the original habit you don't want to be dependent upon whatever substitution you apply. In any case, congratulations (Quitting)
wow!!!I just wrote about 40 days and 40 nights on one of your other videos...I think you ate those junk foods coz you were sub-conciously celebrating that you quit smoking...Like you just had a party day....Yipppeee!!!
It's actually good to tell other people that u want to quit smoking because they gonna help u in any ways to keep u from smoking and somewhat u feel good when u see somebody caring for your health....it's a big help trust me thats why i told my colegues and they help me a lot!Keep up the good work...i'm happy for u that u quit!!
woohh randomly watching your video, good luck :) im a smoker and have been for umm 6 months i think ?:S i just get mad when people are like grr!! stop smokeing.. blaaahhhh!! its anoying anyways ya
Today is the two-month mark, so you need to make a new video so that we'll know that you haven't slipped - which will inspire others to follow your example.
I was thinking the exact same thing today, but I've been soooooo busy and my cam is on the fritz. Haven't had time today to trouble shoot. I will though hopefully on the week-end! Thanks for the reminder!
Day 48 and going strong! Feeling proud and victorious! Had only one twinge of wishing for a smoke today which lasted about 5 minutes as I tried to think it away. It really can be done.
And for the record, I don't get angry, just wanted to "clarify". If I seemed "bigger" in this video than something earlier you've watched of mine, it's just angles, lighting, whatever. Hey, I'm a chick! We're sensitive about stuff like that! LOL! Peace man!
i can see you are a little bit bigger than before you quit smoking. I tried quit smoking but i get to big. Then i started again and i must say i simple love it. good luck quitting
What exactly are you talking about? There are no videos of me before I quit and I'll have you know that I've actually lost 5 pounds since I quit smoking. In fact over time, in the last 4 years I've now lost a total of 35 pounds. So ouch! Sorry if I seem defensive.
It's all mind over matter, so if you quit "loving" it and take control of yourself, you can have it all.
Please don't give in. Have you considered jogging or some type of aerobic exercise. Quite a few years ago what helped me quit and stay that way was jogging. The more I jogged the easier it became to quit and stay away.
Good advice. I've been intending to get moving soon. It's turning to winter where I live so I'll have to jump around indoors I'm afraid. LOL! Although I do enjoy ice skating very much. When I've gone the last couple of winters I was always out of breath so quickly. I can hardly wait to feel the difference!
The same thing happened to me this time! The first couple of months were pretty easy. Then out of no where, strong cravings came. It was odd to say the least...
I still have the occasional 'Ciggy Thought', but they're not anything scary.
So how 'bout that fat kitty video? You dont need me to mix anything for you. Just parody the lryics and screen shots on the video. I think it'd hilarious! I'm going to find the vid and sent it to you now!
I suggested you made some changes to your channel...
You said no. You are strong, you rejected my suggestion. An addiction also gives us suggestions which we must turn down.
But the desire and life behind the craving must not be blocked; it should be calmed down and channelled into activities which are more beneficial for us. I too, like everyone, have to exercise this art...
Oh Happy, I understand what you meant now. You're a very interesting person and have unusual ways of getting your ideas across. Maybe I'm not smart enough to grasp the meaning behind your words on the 1st try! LOL! I'm kind of a face value girl, and reading you is sometimes like the shell game. Are you a professor or teacher? And what negative cravings make you have to exercise the art of channeling, if you don't mind sharing?
I am bit of a teacher; sometimes give talks on philosophy and spirituality. My cravings are the same as the next person - sadly I, too, am only human.
Hooray Niki! You're doing great, I'm so proud of you.
I know it's not the same, but when I lost weight what helped with my cravings for 'junk' was sticking a piece of gum in my mouth - the stronger the mint the better!
If quitting smoking was easy, we could smoke a few and then quit again. I have done that many times. I would buy a pack just for the weekend. That turned into buying another and another. Even now when I am out with friends that smoke, I have to fight to stay quit. I know you can stay quit. It is better to eat what you don't want to do than have to go through the hell of quitting smoking again. Please ;keep me informed if I can help you.
I can give you an adivce that helped my uncle to quit smoking:
Drink a shot of lemon juice, i mean just the lemon juice (no water, no sugar. SOUR.) or any other sour fruit. It makes that "dAMN desire" go away, as my uncle told.
In the meantime.. ♥♥THe Best of THE LUCKS and BE STRONG!♥♥
I've never been a smoker, so I don't know what it's like to have withdrawals, but I still offer all the support that I can possibly give and more. Be strong, and keep yourself accountable for your non-smoking -- it will definitely pay off in the end...Day 42 and counting.
I gave you 5*'s, and just between you and me...junk food is needed every now and then (for our sanity).
Thank you Jules! You rule! Maybe I tell myself, 1 day a week is okay to eat junk. My belly tire will just have to suffer! LOL! Those BBQ'd peanuts were REALLY good though!
Satisfying those food cravings once in a while is not a bad thing. It's not going to happen every day. Don't beat yourself up over 500 Dorito calories!
Try drinking a glass of water when you get an urge to smoke a cigarette. Within 20 minutes you'll forget about wanting a cigarette. It worked beautifully for me.
Hang in there! Forty days will soon turn into 50, and then 75, 100....
yup, that's what happened to me, too... it's because you're hitting that dangerous stage... the point when you say, "I need to stay strong". I'm here for you. I've slipped backward (smoking cigarettes here and there). But, I'm not a regular smoker yet, so I can still jump back.
That's showing a hint of expecting to BECOME a "regular" smoker. Don't let it happen. Don't be a "casual" or a "social" smoker. That leads to addiction. Be good to yourself. Your body will thank you!
Thanks! :)
