I think Paige's original hostility to Em (trying to drowned her/ being a royal bitch, etc) is the perfect example of this. She hated herself and in turn hated Em for reminding her of what she is. In my opinion it had nothing to do with Em and everything to do with Paige.

Sure, Paige has had her crazy moments in the beginning, but how many of us didn't that early in the coming out/discovering ourselves process (especially with nutty parents)?
