I've been playing DnD PnP since the age of 8 (I was born in 78) - actually my first paid review job were the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale pc rpgs. this was another off the cuff' spur of the moment incident. Yes, that is why I gave Vin those options. He stumped me (under pressure) the first time I did it with him, this time I got him. The globe of light was the right solution to blind the drow and hopefully flee!

As nerdy as this sounds, I'd honestly prefer to see a "real" gaming session where Vin rolls some actual dice and slays the monsters in these "scenarios". Preferably governed by a qualified DM.

Also as far as I know there is no good "book" version of 40k.

So the main difference (game wise) is that D&D is mainly played as an "imaginated" RPG while in 40k you collect and use figures.

Sadly no book version of 40k ever "worked" simply because the universe is set far more precise than the D&D one and players were VERY limited in their actions.

bards are one of the most versatile classes. decent healing, decent melee, decent spells, decent buffing/debuffing, decent range, decent skills- jacks of all trades *shrugs*. shouldnt be bashed on.

Back in 1st ed AD&D, bards were overpowered badasses with a full BAB, thief skills, as well as druidic magic. You needed to be a level 10 or so fighter/thief to become one.

drow are seriously badass even in level one.. plus, a warrior/mage technically starts out with two levels already, so it would have been an adversary right away. it fights better, and has magic resistance, the only trouble being the lack of hitpoints
