OMG

  • My grandma induced me to the ventures and i love there sound great surf music

  • i like this music n group music my life thanks

  • great bassist

  • Brilliant - I love the garage/punk rock sound of the Ventures from this period.

  • Hey does anyone know where i can find pandora's box it's an old song by the ventures can't find it anywhere.... ty in advance

  • グヤトーンのクリップしたスピーカーでよく演奏を続行した。これも時代なんでしょうか?

    次の年からフェンダー・ショウマンに換えました

  • This is Nookie Edwards at the lead. I like the original Bob Bogle version better, the timing, ryththm and the way Bob vibrated the guitar sound is awesome.

  • I like them both. I think Nokie's sound in the 1980s is even better.

  • DO IT

  • Gives me chills-Cowabunga!

  • oh my good .。

    i love bob

  • Out of this world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What album is this from? It's sure not Live in Japan 65 / All About the Ventures.

  • Did they have any other albums from 65? I have the Live in Japan 65 and this isn't that version, the announcer says something different and some of these applauses in it aren't there.

  • Sweet, thanks for posting.

  • Wow Lulluby of the Leaves was awesome. Can't seem to find any video of it being playing. One of my favs they do second only to Walk Don't Run

  • Beauty!

  • Al Bundy has to be my all-time favourite instrumentalist!

  • It's interesting to listen to Nokie's gritty sound way back in 1965. Most "instrumental" bands back then played guitars with a clean sound. He has chosen just the right amount of bite and distortion for the music that they are playing here.

  • The Mosrites sound a bit too shrill. I liked the sound better in the earlier Jazzmaster days.

  • It's interesting that you make this comment. I felt exactly the same way when I first heard the "Walk Don't RUn II" album back in 1965, wishing that they had used Jazzmasters. I've grown to like the sound of the Mosrites though.

  • I'll bet they mostly used Fenders in the studio for most of their records.

  • Perhaps, but I read somewhere that they had a fall out with Mosrite in 1969.

  • I have read that they got very little shared profits they were promised even though the agreement lasted 5 or 6 years. Mosrite also got huge plugs from the Ventures album covers. Note that Gerry McGee is seen holding Mosrites on the albums in 68-69.

  • I use a Ventures model with 13,000 ohm pickups and it sounds just like this. If you cut back the treble and boost the bass it sounds better. Mine is very sensitive but a joy to play. thevelcrows (dot) com

I think a lot of this is in the recording and reproduction. Maybe this was taken off of vinyl using a cheap mic.

  • @706jim - I'm guessing the distortion is not a sound he actually went for, but was actually the result of an amp of insufficient power to cover the venue. It sounds great, though; adds another dimension to their sound.

  • @706jim That is because the pickups in the mosrite guitars they were playing destorted easily when cranked in their amps. Nice sound

  • Excellent!
