Great explaination! My question is can I clock at any sample rate even if 1 or more devices can only clock at 44.1 or 48? For example my mixer can only clock at 44.1 or 48 and my interface can clock up to 96. If i set my mixer as the slave, can i clock at 96k from the interface?
Yes, but they can't share the same soundcard/interface. You'd take a digital output from logic and run it in to a digital input on your Pro Tools interface. Then take a MIDI cable, connect the two and enable MMC (midi machine control) on both PT and Logic. Make PT the master and Logic the slave. When you roll PT, Logic will receive the MMC "play" message and roll. You might have to enable MTC on both machines as well... I've seen it work, but haven't set it up myself so good luck!!
now if you stared reading this dont stop its really scarey!ok send this to five other videos in 143 minutes. When you are done press F6 and your crushes name will apear on the screen in big letters this is weird because it does work.If you break this chance you wont have a crush in the next five years
missed the SRC for re-clocking machines that Not have a WordClock In, like digital oberheim synth, waldorf q, Roland Varios, Kenton Plugstation, Yamaha Aieb2, sollutions like tc konnect x32, drawmer m-clock, z-sys z3src, lynxstudio, lavry, mytek, etc...
also forgot about wordclock jitter even with small cable runs, coax vs. optical, also clock distortion with bad 75ohm RG-59 cable, also diferent master clocks brands, also digital audio L&R travels in serial, but your drawing looks parallel
Thank you very much! This is a first time I've ever actually understood what clocking is all about!
