Schubert´s serenade and ave maria, Dvorak's largo from the new world symphony, Haendel´s largo from Xerxes and la paix from the royal fireworks, Chopin's tristesse,Brahm's lullaby, christmas carols such as adeste fideles, silent night, the herald angels sing, mexican song la golondrina and this second movement from are certainly the most beautiful melodies that has ever been written, and all of them bring tears to my eyes, specially this heavenly celestial piece of music.
His use of so many different speeds of vibrato was a key ingredient in the French school of violin playing. So different from most of today's virtuosos. One speed=no color in one's tone.
ahhh sheer equistness

I am moved to tears. This movement is a very sad one , and Menuhin's playing made me feel all the sadness and depth of this concerto.

Sounds a bit dim, I heard better transfers of 78RPM records.
