For westerners whom are supporting Free Tibet, you should go to Xizang and see for yourself. Talk to the Tibetan cab drivers, talk to the service related people in hotels. You will understand how happy they are. And YES, the Tibetan language is alive and spoken everywhere! Let's be honest, the people whom want Tibet back are the "outsiders" and the monks in Xizang. They lost their serfdom but most young Tibetans will NEVER want to go back to being serfs anymore like what their parents did.

@Ngatseful How can we prove Tibet is China?? Tibet was part of China since the Yuan dynasty. At the end of Qing dynasty, the 13th Dalai Lama broke away and declared independence. China left it as that because of warlords, the civil war and then, WWII. When communists took over, it was incorporated into PRC. During your almost 40 years of break away, did anyone recognise Tibet as a country??? At the UN General Assembly in 1950, the US, UK and USSR recognised Tibet as part of China.

Today, the Tibetans in Xizang have highways, railway links, job opportunities, some are great folk singers, and better standards of living. Lhasa is a better place than when under feudal serfdom. Why do you think only the monks are fighting the Chinese Govt? The Tibetans in Xizang are not interested. For those who are descendants of the exodus to Dharamsala, Good Luck and be happy in India!

Tibet has been part of China since thousand years ago. See, when Mongol conquered China, they drew the map of China included Tibet. And in Mongol history, they never had conquered Tibet, only China alone, and TIBET WAS ALREADY PART OF IT.

Freedom as in independence or as in freedom to choose for yourself, like basic human rights. And these small territories definitely have the latter, and have no complaints whatsoever being under US. US is providing them all that. However, in Tibet's case, we do not have either. Neither freedom nor independence.

His Holliness the dalai lama has repeatedly mentioned in open press that tibetan people are seeking autonomy UNDER china. The very reason behind it is because tibetans can have their human rights restored and culture preserved by governing tibet internally like hongkong. And i think we deserve at least that. Besides, chinese are also suffering human rights violation under the communist rule.

Yuan actually was heavily sinicized, even you should know that. They also didn't even last a hundred years.

Kublai Khan did not conquer the Song Dynasty in South China until 1279, so Tibet was a component of the early Mongol Empire before it was combined into one of its descendant empires known as the Yuan Dynasty (1271 – 1368) with the whole of China. so tibet was a part of the yuan dynasty 8 years before china, which clearly shows how separate they where

almost every non chinese historian disagree, and state that Ming title granted to Tibetans were not only nominal, but were not a continuation of the Mongol Yuan policy! because, before the Ming existed, the Phagmodru myriarchy overthrew the Sakya regime in the 1350s, the latter of which was established by Kublai Khan as a sort of viceroy government over Tibet, with his most trusted lama Drogön Chögyal Phagpa at the head!

Many titles were given to leading Tibetans by the Ming emperors, but not to confer authority as with the Mongols.
