Correct, get a friend to play your Martin and you sit about 10-15 feet in front of him and listen to how sweet that guitar is. The bass is fantastic compared to playing the guitar and trying to listen to it from above, no comparison. Have a Blessed day and take care & love that Martin of yours. LOL
Do you also flat pick that Martin? I'm looking at getting one next month but I mostly flat pick. (Bluegrass and fiddle tunes). I have other dreadnaughts but would like to own a smaller body 12 fret like this one.
UPDATE! Got the HD-28 from Jon at MFG and this baby sounds so sweet. I had a friend play it so I could listen to the great sound of this guitar as you really can't hear the tonal qualities while playing it compared to being out in front of it. This is one guitar that will not ever be traded or sold, just passed down to one of my children.
You know, that's a good point. Just bought the same guitar, and I'm curious if my discontent without is because I'm really no appreciating it from out front, like you said, as the bass is much more prominent sitting right over the top of the guitar, etc.
