@EngineeringFun G'day... Ah, well, that turns out to be about half right..! jim Maupin's Design IS INDEED a good aeroplane, & they fly well. Though not many people Foot-Launch them, as Jim intended...! But, the entire Tailboom is Carbon Fibre, as are the Control Bellcranks. To see one uncovered, search 'Aerotowing Rogallos', it's on my Playlists. The 1/4 inch Square Spruce is routed with a 1/8 " groove, & then filled with String & Resin. It's FULL of Carbon Fibre. !
@straighttailpilot If I recall correctly (haven't looked at the plans in years) it's a wood/carbon composite I-beam. The web is 45 degree plywood and the caps are based on spruce u-tube. The u-tubes are filled with carbon fiber and contain a spruce core to form the carbon into square-section tubes. The carbon is tapered towards the tips so the carbon tubes open into u-sections and finally flat sections.
I am wondering if the spoiler may induce turbulent airflow over the rudder and possibly the elevators and reduce control? Very nice aircraft all the same though.
@fledge2b Yew, something we a lacking in these days of modern technology. The more I have looked into these microlight gliders the more I am fascinated.

Thats a really nice aircraft well done, it floats so nicely.
Are you going to use a ballistic parachute when you do the high altitude testing?
