I have the same thing, except the hard drive is close to dead. Scandisk almost killed the drive. No CD drive, either. I got it for free at a yard sale with the dock and everything. Now I just need a new HDD. Do you know where I can find a hard drive for this thing for a cheap price?

@degru5091 It's typical IDE hard disk. I'm sure disk of size up to 40GB will run fine, I don't know how about bigger disks. You may also try some PATA-SSD disk (I have one 8GB with ide 2.5'' -> ZIF-IDE adapter) or CF card with IDE-CD adapter, beware some of CF cards are somehow incompatible with Toshiba (like 4GB Kingston I have, runs in usual PC but doesn't boot on any of my toshbias while old 128mb CF boots fine)

@GameOverNoVideo dunno prices. 120gb is the actual bios limit. for my unit (20gb hdd,combo,256 ram) I'd get max 200zl in Poland (circa 70$ at current exchange) so you got it overpriced probably.

@GameOverNoVideo obviosly ram is SDR (66/100 works, ppl say 133 is not working but I dunno) and hard disk is (P)ATA. max ram is 256 (obvoiusly 2x128) though.

@GameOverNoVideo The HDD is IDE. An IBM TravelStar 6GT DADA-26480, to be exact. That's the 6.4 GB one. I am looking for a replacement drive, because I got mine with a nearly dead HDD inside (at a yard sale) and MS Scandisk nearly killed it. Now it just barely works. Hope I can salvage something off of it...

i was wondering if you could point me in the direction of upgrades for this laptop? for some odd reason i just love the feel of it but its nearly obsolite for me, i was looking to find ram not sure which to buy for it and if its possible to upgrade to a pent 3? im not very savvy with old laptop anatomy :/ drop me a line in my inbox if your willing to help, thanks in advance!

if you have p2 then you cannot have p3. however your can overclock the cpu up to 25% by enforcing 80MHz FSB instead of 66, Mine is rock solid @ 440Mhz. Currelntly I have 256MB RAM- it's max (2x128mb). it is said 133mhz ram doesn't work - haven't chcked that, but you should have 100MHZ RAM if you want to overcclock. P3 T8000 has got different mobo and was sold only with 500MHZ chip but I've read ppl sucessfully insterted 650MHZ, but these mobos are very rare nowadays.

sure, with an external USB or CARDBUS adapter it's possible (i'm using usb with mine)

@jessicaH5140 With an adapter, you can. I advise a PCMCIA adapter that goes into the slot on the side. Then your USB port is free.

well actually I haven't finished the frame but tosh is ready to do that (gutted and working), I have also another notebook gutted for this reason - it's satellite 430cdt (p120 16mb ram, 11'' 800x600) but t8000 is better because it boots quick w/o hd (satellite tries to detect the hard drive for few minutes I think - then boots from FDD only + it lacks USB) and t8000 can boot off CD too. tecra 8k seems reasonable choice, though I'd delaying coz I want to substitute HD somehow.

yesterday I bought another one (missing hdd/cd,dead battery, for making a digital frame out of it ;) ) well I didn't encouter any srious technical problems with these machines. my oldie was p2-233 128mb ram 4gb hdd (Which died, then I used it several days as internet kiosk running BARTPE from cd w/o hdd and it finally got sold), little 12'' 800x600 and 24x cd. this older one worked fine with win98 besides worn hard disk. This faster presented in movie runs a little stripped down xp fine

about hour ago I finished disassembling that non complete 8k I plan to use as digital frame - they have very small motherboard making it ideal for this purpose... if only this machine could boot from usb directly ;)
