I have a $500 budget and was thinking about getting either an sg, strat, or a ephiphone les paul. I thin I should get the strat or les paul the reason I say strat is because it is only 120$ and I have alot of money for the amp and case, etc. but the sound of a squire just can't compare to a sg or les paul even if it is a ephiphone and the amp I was thinking of a spyder by line 6 or a marshall amp any suggestions?

@timothyga01 i think that you would do well getting a les paul if you play progressive or classic rock, and maybe even a little bit of hard rock, but i definately wouldnt get a squire, mabe a real fender strat if your a jazz or blues player but other than that id scratch that idea too, my suggestion would be a jackson if your into heavy music or metal. they have 2 single coil pickups and one jackson humbucker, as well as a tremolo bar, 24 frets, and shark fin inlays for only $200.

@timothyga01 id go with the epi les paul, but another suggestion would be to get a jackson js23 dinky for $200, and get a fender mustang 1 for $150, and get like a pedal or something. the fender mustang comes with fender fuse software and has a usb port where you can use fender fuse to make your own presets online and save them to your amp. also it has a built in chromatic tuner.

It was in standard tuning, as opposed to being tuned down a tone, but yeah, in places i do sound bad. I hadn't quite got the hang of bending the strings or anything here. I've come along a lot since then! lol
