Not all sound effects in this version are improvements; the sound of the door opening/closing in the labyrinth is gaudy to me. I like them both though and I grew up on the USA version. I'll never forget when I first played it on the day before my 8th birthday. It was a new experience.
@lordbemylight I agree. I got both versions and I like most of the sound effect better on the NES. But the musics are better on the FDS especially the intro.
I remember hearing about how you could choose between the boomerang and wooden sword at the start of this version once. Was that just in a beta/mockup screen shot? And I remember something about the boomerang being able to do actual damage as well. Do you know anything about this? And any other differences between the famicom and nes versions other than the text/sound?
@Luigifan1091 Yeah I just really enjoy learning about this stuff too. And I appreciate all your work on this stuff too. Another small fact about Zelda too. On the action set bundle box there's a screen shot of Zelda. Look closer at the font for the number of rupees and such. They used a screen shot from the famicom version there on a usa bundle. But I'll take a guess that you probably already knew that.
@TerraBemani I think it's a beta mockup. But there is a version of the beta which is now on the web which has been released recently, maybe it's in the beta but I doubt it because there was only minor changes from the commercial release.
There isn't much text at all in either version, and the NES version was not translated very well, so you were pretty much on your own/with a walkthrough either way, I mean "Let's play money-making game" was so awful yet awesome.
Also, Kill mode. xD The title screen really does sound better than the NES version, by the way.
So many secrets I never discovered in this video alone. :O
I made it to the second dungeon without the blue suit.

Was that an actual player who played that game?! I noticed that when Link played gambling game and he nailed it. I hope the player is not cheating.

@lordbemylight But for example, Metroid is way better on the FDS for its sounds than it was on the NES.
