Hey serenities!!! i'm french and i want to play all the doors songs on keyboard but i can't find the real score so can you tell me where you buy the scores please :) you will be so nice :D
you are a brilliant pianist. it's one thing to be a mimic, it's one thing to be talented, but you are something special. you are doing what most people who cover the Doors cant do - play it faithfully & inject your own personality into it. very impressive.
Hey this isn't my youtube profile but when I get one setup I going to send you a friend request, you have to show me more of your video's. Because my bro is learning the Piano and this could help him get some inspiration/influences.
Dude that sounds so badass. If I knew how to play something like that I feel like a King. Man I'm glad to see someone nowadays learning that style of music. The Doors is an awesome band.
lol yea, manzareck was probably by far a better "musician" then say.. morrison. Morrison was more of an abstract poet. Still, Jim never never sang in his childhood or teenage years, he only practiced it for a few months before they started playing together... that's pretty neat, i think
Yeah, I wonder if the doors still play the weirder tracks from the Jim years? I think he added some really interesting things to their music. Big part of the band, the centerpiece.
In my opinion they're the perfect example of a complete band in all ways.
A friend of mine just saw ray and robbie in concert in AZ. He said they play pretty much everything except for the real "jim" songs like : The end and When the Music's over.
yea for the most part, although he did say they did .... horse latitudes and waiting for the sun (which ive never heard them do live on any thing that I know of that has been released) and yes they did Not to touch the earth too, he said it was awesome. if you search "tkacik doors" in youtube he posted a bunch of videos from the show im talking about.
Yeah I think there's a live version of Horse Latitudes on Youtube. It's just audio. They're usually mixed in with other parts of songs. Sometimes you'll hear it in the middle of a song. But as far as Waiting For The Sun, i don't know.
Haha they aren't THAT Expensive, Rhodes are only like 500 bucks, and a Vox is about 1.5 grand (Seen em go for 1 grand) A rhodes is bout 800 dollars, you do have to do some saving though
True, but you'd be hard pressed finding an early silvertop Fender Rhodes PB for anywhere under $1000 these days. Even the later version sivertops command a pretty price.
Ray refers in his book indeed to Bach when he write about take it as it comes and the solo. I tried to search the piece of Bach what he mentioned, but couldn't find. Do you know the original piece?
@serenities Wonderful playing. Probably it's JS Bach's Fuga BWV 542 that gave the inspiration to Ray for Take it as it Comes' solo. Is it Domenico Scarlatti the one on the poster at your left, on the west side column of your room? There is a portrait of Scarlatti that looks just like that.
@epiphone112689 Ya if he didn't practice his Bach inventions as a kid, he might not have had the technical skills to play or even come up with that. YAY Bach!
serenities, that performance took me back to when I was 9 or 10 years old, when I used to hear it on the radio (am). You are very good, and I wish you well in whatever you wish to do in life. I Just want you to know you made me happy for a time, thank you for that!
I currently wonder about your interpretations. You have a really great feeling, when I listen to these songs, I want to play on a vox ! I actually have a bad keyboard, (yamaha mm6), and I'll get a Nord Stage 88' tomorrow. I will try the Vox Continental in 1st !
much better than that other guy on yt ...i dont mean ray of course..perhaps you should team up with other musicians on youtube and get a virtual band going im sure it would take off...jus look at jun626 he does zepp with other folks online...the doors kick zepps arse...boot yer butt...they wernt kidding...hehe
You're so incredibly inspirational. I love the Doors and one day wish to play as well as Ray too. Looks like someone beat me to it :) You're awesome!!!
That's so elegant and beautiful. You nailed it! I love it! That's a very under appreciated song of the Doors. It's got a great bass line. OK, it's great on bass and piano keyboard..I'm glad someone has the intelligence to preserve such a great instruments and tone for the enjoyment of everyone.
WOW...you nailed it Dude...that was out of the park! A home run!!! YEAH!!

i don't get how you think when you're playing two things at the same time like a bass line and a solo wtf!! haha
i gotta hard time playing and singing at same time
the keyboard guy from the doors could play bass, organ AND sing at the same time, crazy dude.
samuelmichaud 2 years ago
playing the bass line and the solo are alot easier then trying to play an instrument and sing lol. But yea, this guy is pretty good
andrew18651 2 years ago 2
well, I don't believe playing the bass would have made much difference than playing a vox with two hands, in classic keyboard playing style.
but come to think of it, assuming the keys on the bass are heavier, and way up there above the continental, maybe it was more challenging than looks.
AdyPole 2 years ago
Yeah I get what you're saying. But these are very hard to play weather you play them on piano or this stuff here. Singing on top of that is mental.
samuelmichaud 2 years ago
lol yea, manzareck was probably by far a better "musician" then say.. morrison. Morrison was more of an abstract poet. Still, Jim never never sang in his childhood or teenage years, he only practiced it for a few months before they started playing together... that's pretty neat, i think
