IMO she's much more reminiscent of Carole King. at any rate, she's amazing and by far one of the most talented new songwriters right now. my fiance and i love her.

That's the first person that came to mind when I heard this voice.... Carly Simon. But Diane's holding her own.

@lyricalminded3 I saw Diane at a small venue in London a few days ago. Quite an all-round talent;sings even better live than on record, plays very well and has a bunch of really good self-wrtten songs. As for Duffy, no stage presence, annoying vocal tone, not a notable writer in Diane's class, can't play anything, but, if you like her, well, there you go........

@candelise ah come on, thats not fair. duffy's a critically acclaimed singer with good writing skills. comparing her to diane, who writes not just the song, but the music, is not a fair comparison. duffy's a great singer, diane is a great musician.

@lyricalminded3 I always get a little suspicious when you see the co-writing and producing credits. No different from many British pop female performers. Plus, I suspect a little backlash on 'Duffy' from the comments I hear from those in England. As you said, Diane writes the song PERIOD, plus she comes on like an all-round talent which will serve her well in the future. 'Duffy'does not have such a sturdy back-up of talent. We shall see who lasts out, I guess.
