  • where did you get that blue/purple blur at 4:50?

  • i almost went into a siezure when he pulled out the damascus

  • haha its a true knife vid when youve got a cut on your finger

  • I almost want this knife.

  • This USED to be my favorite compact/crazy sharp self-defense knife. A couple of days ago I put a thumbstud size tear in my thumb when I deployed it in an urgent manner. The thumbstud sticks initially and then the blade flys out super fast. I think there is a small ball bearing that keeps the blade in the closed position, that it hangs up on. The thumbstud ridges are SHARP. It is still a great EDC(Cabellas Bargain Cave-$25). TEST YOUR KNIVES before you trust them for emergency use.

  • Oh btw, food prep with oil on it?.. Yuck, better off having a good rust resistant steel.

  • @dahgutone cooking oil is usually used on food prep knives, don't wanna have weird taste in your food.

  • I like how the review really is over by the 20 minute mark and the last 5 minutes revolves more around getting into a frenzy and marvelling at blades. haha. always entertaining and useful reviews!

  • great knife! if the bradley is the poor mans sebenza, then the salvo is the poor mans bradley alias! thanks for the info nutn...

  • @CutleryNovice how would I do that?

  • may 2011 local wallmart has old stock feb ''09 Barrage for $25. also feb' 09 zing and od1 nice find

  • @01:04 "i wanna see how fast i can do this" then the vid turns out to be more than 25 minutes long. LOL :D

    i love TNP tho.

  • @TedOfNod Hahaha! I know..its whack..he can't help it! Thanks for the funny comment. =) -- Veri

  • I wish spring assisted knives werent banned in PA, because I really want the OSO Sweet. :(

  • @Cman524 Get one and take the torsion bar out

  • @Cman524 Spring Assisted blades are legal in PA.

  • @Cman524

If they're illegal in PA, then I'm a criminal! Haha, they definitely are not illegal. Multiple cops have seen my leek and I've had no problems.

  • wat happened to the love of the blur

  • barrage or skyline

  • @bender43718 Barrage aka salvo

  • Every time I hear you say "Benchmade" I think you say "bitch-made" hahaha.

  • sweet vid man!!

  • pussy

  • @daHoodbrotha Cat :D

  • I don;t understand why people worry about blade centering. The blade will shift to the left or the right depending on how tight you have that pivot screw, or how loose you have it. Cool blade though, i have also seen them at Wal-mart. This is my first time seeing it in action though :)

    Dan.

  • Man is it just me or does anyone else freaking LOVE teh pattern of a damascus steel blade? I would never use the few I own but I want one of these in that steel lol

  • would you recommend this or the spyderco tenacious for an edc knife.

  • turners outdoorsmen has the knife on sale for $19.98 right now

  • Alabama Damascus preforms identical to A2

  • @CutleryNovice Correction it's nearly identical to O1

  • i just got the walmart version 25$, i'm pretty impressed

  • look at the bsa centennial shallot in Damascus steel. from Rob Thomas. its made in my town. Vegas baby!

  • Kind of a side note, but why is the Kershaw Skyline review you did set as private?

  • Comment removed

  • Note that all of the torx screws become loose after a while and the knife rubs on the frame when closing. Lock Tight fixed that problem though. As a debate to the thumb stud issue he brings up, it is bothersome for about a week then calluses build up on your thumb and you get the technique down for opening the knife. I am quick enough with it now I don't need assisted open with this knife. Like he said, the blur design thumb stud would have been a better choice though.

  • This is a nice knife. I've owned mine for a year or so now and it shows signs of heavy everyday use but it still works flawlessly. Had to build up calluses for the thumb stud though. It's pretty small and rough. I personally don't see a need for assisted openers as I can open this one very quickly and there are not as many parts to break or malfunction. I think I'll stick with quality frame locks for life as they are very strong. Used in a warehouse setting everyday.

  • bought one of these on base for all of 15 dollars on clearance. I LOVE IT!

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 at a Px or Bx??? I want to get one but I don't know the area off post very well

  • wal-mart clearance for 25$

original price i believe was 34.97$

  • @TheWuusterGSY Nice!!! -- Veri

  • @TheWuusterGSY

thats where i got it at that price couple weeks after this reveiw

  • @TheWuusterGSY

Yeah I'm getting a deal at Amazon for $25 too.

    Can't wait to receive it.

  • Not sure if it's nation wide, or even more than one location, but FYI in case anyone's in the market, I recently nabbed a Skyline and a Barrage on clearance at Wal-Mart for $25. They also had a Buck Omni-Hunter I believe, a Leatherman Skeletool I'm debating getting, and a couple Gerber models. Geber Profile for $15...might have to get one as a beater.

  • so your a user and dont care about chemistry? ha first thought nutns a stoner?

  • I just got mine for 25.00 on sale at walmart

  • Nutn you should get a Kershaw Storm. i wanna know what you think of that.

  • Very much like the Damascus version you highlighted.... Ive been so blown away with my Kershaw purchases that i have a really hard time forking over the additional moolah for Benchmades anymore....Bronze washers, assisted opening, excellent steels, MADE IN USA, and every one has had excellent lockup... Cyclone, Junkyard II, leek, Packrat, Spec bump, and a tanto blur..,, Just great knives..

  • Are walmart now has the knives in packages not in boxes

  • As far as the "Salvo" ...Barrage question goes. They are the same knife. The only diff is the black DLC coating/Damascus option(s) for the Barrage. The Walmart Barrage has the serrations, and comes in clampack. But as far as size and weight go,they are identical.Great knife whatever version you get.

  • @exsigint I'm not certain but I think it's just a renaming of the barrage for the 2010 catalog. They apparently took off the barrage last year as I couldn't find the barrage on their late 2009 catalog. I think they are relaunching the barrage as salvo from here on forward.

  • I bought one and it slipped from my packet while running so I bought another one. I like the knife, I just wish it had a longer clip.

  • Too bad this didn't have a flipper and a low profile clip. Nonetheless, a very good knife for its price range and blade material!

  • why does this knife remind me of the kershaw NRG 1740

  • i really love the value for your money that Kershaw gives you. Nice review, nutn

  • Kershaw makes outstanding knives for such a cheap price. ZT makes beast knives but for a higher price.

  • great knife. great value...thanks

  • sweet jesus siri hope youtube helps you afford all these knives especially since you buy more than one of a kind!! By the way your reviews change the way I EDC man i'm rollin smart now... as soon as i get my concealed carry!

  • Kershaw used the same clip and frame lock design as their Zero Tolerance knives. This knife reminds me of a good ol ZT. That's why I'm going to buy it.

  • cool knife I just got a kershaw tanto blur and im really happy with it was about 20 more than this knife but its assisted which was part of the reason I wanted it.

  • Carry a Kershaw Leek during the week and a Blur on the weekends. Great knives.

  • consumer report has nothing on NUTNFANCY lol

    Great video as usual

  • Google don't bite, learn to use it.

  • Right On!!

  • You know, buddy I'm not happy with my comment, I sounded like a real douche.

What I meant so say is:

    - to answer your question we must check where you are from (not everyone's American) and then perform a google-search for you.

    - since Google tries to give you geographically-relevant results, when YOU do the search you are likely to get better results.

Tip: any capable browser will activate the search bar when you press ctrl+e. Just type your question, hit enter... done!

  • Hahaha! The jakenator's at it again. Love it. -- Veri

  • So how much is it? haha

  • Haha indeed ^^

40$ ( surely you can find is somewhere on Earth for exactly $40 )

  • Watched your video.

    Ordered one.

    Got it in.

    Ordered another.

    Thanks Nutnfancy.

  • :The Constitution does not "give" us any rights. The right to carry a baton, large knife, or gun to defend ourselves is a god given right. The Constitution is supposed to be there to keep the government from tampering with those rights.

    There's food for thought.

  • What you wrote is so freaking true... here in Europe we failed to take this precaution and look where it got us...

After WWII, when Soviet commies occupied my country they knew they were less than welcome so the first thing they did was banning all weapons.

We eventually got rid of the communists but not before people believed the propaganda that "Guns are bad".

Now, many are scared of guns in general.

Protect your right to carry, friends, and once in a while think about the less fortunate.

  • I could not agree more. The US Constitution puts more limits on government than it gives powers. The only rights we have are the ones God has given us.

  • @IndianaCamper There are only 3 rights that are ever present even if not vested by any Constitution. These are called inherent rights meaning despite not being in the Constitution, the rights are still present. These rights are: eminent domain, police power and taxation. Other rights are present to keep only the government in check, thus they are not applicable against private individuals.

  • I just bought the black barrage, hopefully it will be here within a week or so :D. Just a quick question, on the kershaw site, it says that it is "limited to 421 pieces". What exactly does that mean? I know it's a limited edition knife, but that can't mean there are only 421 made, can it? It just seems like too low of a number.

  • Bah, i just found out that I got scammed on ebay, so it looks like I won't be getting my barrage any time soon. Hopefully I won't have any problems getting my money back... :(

  • You should find a website supplier; such as YourCornerStore or newgraham knives(google em', I cant link in youtube comments) ; Ebay is full of scams; and I found that when buying brand-new, other websites have much better prices.

Sure you can get an AWESOME Deal on a used knife, but when it comes to a new knife, most sellers on ebay charge more just because they think YOU Think you can get it for cheap on ebay.

  • I've had nothing but good transactions until now, and it was my own fault because I didn't check his feedback (well technically it's his fault for scamming me lol). I tend to use ebay because most website suppliers don't ship to my location as they are all located in the states. I'll yourcornerstore again, but I thought I checked it before and I don't think they ship to Canada. I'll double check though, thanks for the tip.

  • does this blade come in combo blade too with the serations farther back on the blade

  • yes. walmart holds this combo blade

  • great vid again,

  • Nutnfancy understated the importance of the frame lock design. It's better because your hand holds the lock so it won't accidentally disengage. Good to see it on a cheap knife.

  • Hey man, another great vid, thanks!

  • Do you use any special type of oil for your blades?, I know you said rim oil but I could not find it on the net.

  • I think you mean "Rem oil."

  • O8Server is correct, its "Rem Oil". And Nutn also likes Hoppes #9 gun solvent. He pretty much sticks with those two. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • thats a nice looking knife

  • Loved the vid Nuttn! And thanks for expressing to me the importance of MT's. I picked up my first Leatherman Fuse because of TNP and love it, so thank you Nuttn!

  • are those considered a CCW?

  • no theyre not only guns are ccw

  • In some states asp batons are CCW. Remember to put that *** disclaimer in =)

  • Not in Michigan! Anything considered a weapon that is carried concealed is CCW and you can and will be arrested for it.

  • Michigan Penal Code:

Carrying firearm or dangerous weapon with unlawful intent—Any person who, with intent to use the same unlawfully against the person of another, goes armed with a pistol or other firearm or dagger, dirk, razor, stiletto, or knife having a blade over 3 inches in length, or any other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument, shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than 5 years or by a fine of not more than 2,500 dollars.

  • Comment removed

  • I know what the penal code states guys trust me I go to legal update yearly becuase it's mandated to keep my certification! Ive arrested people for other then gun/knife and it's heald up in court.

  • Not something you should be proud of. There's nothing wrong with law abiding civilians carrying self-defense tools on their person at all times. We the people will fight against any attempts by the state to infringe upon our God given and Constitutional right to defend ourselves and our loved ones from the low life monsters of the world.

  • Never said I Was proud of doing it. I have a job to do, with the laws in place I have no choice according to my policies and procedures set forth by my Chief. Failing to act upon the written laws for weapons means I lose my job. I'm part time so no union to protect me. With the economy I'll have a hell of a time finding another P.O. near me. Unfortunately this isn't Alaska so here you need a CPL to carry concealed. I am less then proud to do it but took a oath. I'm fair as a person!!

  • Fair when policy says I can use judgement and my own discreation. However most of the weapons Ive taken are from non lawabiding citizens with records or ones who flat out lie to me. I don't lie to people so lying to me is a clear ticket that what I find is what your going to be charged with plain and simple. If I say I'll work with you I will, and I have and will stand up in court for those people. How ever the Constitution doesn't give right to conceal a sword, baton, club or big knife!

  • Thats just some food for thought. With the current administration they don't care about your rights but the rights of the person coming for/after you. Trust me it hasn't happened yet but it will.

  • i agree with you the purpose of haveing and carrying a tactical blade where i live the limit is 6" but thats pushing it legally if a cop sees it but other than that every person has the right to carry a knife or hand gun if they have a concealed carry permit to defend them selves and there fellow citizen

  • lol... monsters.

    I agree though.

  • thankyou nutn for the great vids, and thankyou veri for responding to our comments =D

  • tnp love it, love it!!!

    once again nice vid

much love to the tnp crew

  • Much love right back at ya! - Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • pivotal...pun intended? :)

  • at least now we know why you wear gloves.... woah...

  • hey nutnfancy! have you ever thought of designing your own knives and making them?

  • I have this knife. I carry it everyday and I dont have an issue w/the thumbstud..Mine doesnt lock closed so I can snap it open if need be. I cut myself on the serrated edge 3 times on my first day with it..razor sharp.

  • Regard the low profile version of blur's slanted thumb studs, kershaw storm has it and it's the most awful thumb stud I've ever used. It's too low, slippery, and the ridges actually cut up my thumb pad pretty good attempting to deploy the blade. I had to ground down the ball detent so the blade comes out easier to fix it.

  • "I'm gonna do this as fast as possible!" 25 minutes later, I love it, keep up the long reviews, don't shorten em its great!

  • I love Kershaw blades, my first knife i ever bought legally was a Kershaw Storm II and that was 3 years ago and it's still one of my favorite EDC blades and i would love to see more Video's reviewing Kershaw if you could.

  • Thoughts on the Kershaw OD-1? Looks like a similar blade to the barrage, but deploys by a 'blade protusion' that recesses into the frame (also uses a frame lock). The kershaw site says it is a flipper, but enough pressure from the index finger brings the blade out medium fast, imho. I bought the orange G-10 limited edition for my collection, so not much experience with edc on the od-1...

  • Beautiful knife! I like everything other than the fact that Kershaw seems to ignore us left handed users. Until I find a Kershaw that I like and will function equally for me as for a right hander, I will keep my 40 dollars for another option. Thanks for the review, Nutn.

  • like the knife but it aint worth 40$ they should bring it down to 30-35$

  • Great review. I like each of these knives. I've also found that Kerahaw's OD-1 is an excellent EDC knife for a relatively low price.

  • Another great review. Thanks!

  • Hey TNPers, what is a hollow grind vs a flat grind? Thanks.

  • Google does not bite...

    n/p :)

Seriously, it'd take either a picture or a 1k words to explain this

  • hollow grind means the blade profile was made with a wheel that creates a very fine agressive edge. Flat grind means the proflie was made with a belt sander or belt grinder. it creates a less aggressive edge that has more longevity.

Its personal preference, think of a straight razor when thinking about hollow ground.

  • hollow is a concave curve if u look at the side of the blade. Flat is just a straight side of a blade

  • What metal has a better "cool factor" than damascus?

  • haha.....nooob MW2 FTW!!!

  • Looks like you took a little top off your finger there Nutn'

  • nut n fancy rules and so does the kershaw blurr

  • Do you think the satin finish one might have beter jimping?-Joshua

  • Great blade. An EDC fav for me now that I have one. Btw Nutn, did you crack your voice at 8:32?! HAHA! A good laugh brotha, a good laugh. Excellent review as always.

  • In response to nutn's comment at 14:08, the only 2 advantages of damascus steel that I can think of is the edge and the strength from the layering. Because of the layering of the steel, when the layers meet when met by the edge, it creates serrations on the microscopic level that, when sharpened, cuts really smoothly. The layers from the welding/forging process create 400-500 layers from cutting the metal, folding it over, hammering it down, welding and repeat til it comes to 500 layers.

  • It's nearly the same process used for making katanas in Japan. I'm definitely not an expert on knives/steels, butI learned all that from watching John Fitzen's Damascus videos.

I think that having a damascus folder is pretty cool, but I think I'd rather go with a damascus fixed blade if the blade materials would rust like that in a bigger knife that has more material than have that same steel in a folder with considerably less material.

  • i have that knife but in a later modal good knife

  • Wow, it's so beautiful xD really cool look (:

  • Trying to draw some heat upon Nutn, are we? ^^

  • No im just sick of the govt's infringement of my liberties

  • @jake262144

no i love nutn why is everyone giving me hate?

  • @ andpingerbecause drugs are gay and stupid so you go ahead and do marajuana and ruin your life

  • wow ur informed... the last three presidents have done cannabis... True some drugs ruin people , but couldn't you say that about guns. NO. Its how the individual uses a THING. That thing is no more dangerous than the user. Also may i remind you, marijuana has caused no deaths from consumption of the product. You probobly drink and think nothings wrong w/ that, but alcohol has a much higher chance of messing your body and mind up than cannabis

  • 1) He did not make personal attacks. Why did you feel it was necessary?

    2) What is wrong with being gay? How did you come to this conclusion from his comment?

    3) What did he say that was so stupid?

    4) Marijuana is physically harmless. andpinger has already noted that the last several presidents have admitted to smoking cannabis. Alcoholism destroys lives yet alcohol is legal.

    5) I take the same "Dangerous Things" stance with drugs that nutnfancy takes with guns. Personal responsibility.

  • @andpinger they might be unhappy about the cannabis question, dunno. Or maybe they were upset with the Morton's Fork you posted. Perhaps they act like sharks cruising around Nutn's posts searching for RED ^^

Don't think we'll be able to dig you up bro...

  • @andpinger -thats a stretch my man. care to elaborate?

  • I won't speak for andpinger, but my point of view is that the government has no right to tell me what I can and cannot put into my body (as long as it doesn't harm other people).

Additionally, cannabis is relatively harmless. Enforcing cannabis laws uses resources that could be put towards better uses. In general, the War on Drugs is a failure. Alcohol prohibition didn't work either.

  • Basically yeah. If you read why it was made illegal in the first place, youll prob be pretty enraged. And people still beleive some of the hysteria from back in the 30s. For example i saw on some website that cannabis use caused breasts in men. A total lie based on nothing.

  • well yea it technically it could but its more a side effect of munchies

  • @MADLOVEPRODUCTIONS

    haha funny

but unfortunately people seriously believe propoganda that said men develop actual (not just fat) breasts [as found on the female species]

  • lol yea reefer madness the musical or movie is a perfect example of how people believe in propoganda and the orginal reason wasnt even over the fact the plant is a drug or gets you high it was over hemp rope compared to nylon rope

  • Agreed.

  • Cannabis prohibition, patriot act, assault weapons ban (to name a few)

  • at andpinger you are retarted

  • No one likes the grammar police, but the least you could do when accusing someone of being "retarted" is spelling and punctuating correctly.

Thus far, it appears to me that andpinger has made the more reasonable responses thus far. So far, you have put forward that:

    1) Drugs are gay.

    2) Drugs are stupid

    3) Drugs ruin lives

    5) andpinger is "retarted".

What is there to respond to when you make such juvenile generalizations. And even if all your points were true, why make drugs illegal?

  • @airsoftlover

Dunno what retarTed is but watch out 'cuz when andpinger retOrts, wou might find yourself CONtOrted kid :D

  • what who are you are you a druge to

  • main.c:7: error: `druge' undeclared (first use in this function)

Just having fun at your JUVENILE COMMENT, not making fun of you personally so stay frosty, lil' buddy.

FYI I'm clean and I'm staying clean.

BTW You might consider deleting the whole comment tree Veri - drug talk does not add much to TNP and the post starts looking like it came from /b/

  • It's a trap!

    Stay away nutnfancy!

  • I have a vapor too, razor sharp out of the box real quick, nice knife but needs better steel, AUS6 is too soft.

    Thanks Nutn You Rock Man!

  • Kershaw does make a high value knife i have had a few and lost a few ( which is upsetting) but they are a decent utility blade. And a good edc blade also.

  • how about a video some of nutnfancy's favorit websites for good quality knives for good price and etc. even though several web sites are metioned in multiple vids a

    :)

  • i have a kershaw vapor, the older model,i think they made some changes on it since i got it. anyways, that knife has the same type of thumb stud with the angle to it too. check it out maybe

  • Glad to see u poppin out a lot of knife reviews again!

  • @CrialCrial I know right!

  • that damascus barrage is very nice!

  • Awesome review Nutn, 5/5. I've bought some Kershaw knifes in the last few days for gifts and even picked up one for myself (Skyline) after watching your reviews. Thanks as always.

  • Kershaw warehouse sale is this weekend and thanks to all the good Kershaw reviews Nutn has been dropping,I think I know where my paycheck is going lol.

  • Is the sale taking place off the kershaw website?

  • No, it takes place twice a year at their factory in Tualatin, OR(Portland area). I picked up a D2 Outcast for $39, two Blackouts for $20 a piece, and an Oso Sweet for $14. I also bought a couple kitchen knives and some sheaths. Next one will probably be in June.

  • I didn't realize this a frame lock one. I may have to pick this one up. Good review.

  • I'm a fellow TNP'er ! Nice vid nutn!

  • Much appreciated Christmas gift idea!! Rock On TNP!!!

  • Love the video! Thanks V for the heads up on this one coming out.

I've been very happy with my Barrage over the past month or so. I purchased mine from Walmart (for $38 after tax) and as packaged it's advertised as being "shaving sharp." They're not kidding too. I've used this knife for dressing small game and fish to great effect. It does have a less than perfect thumbstud, but having played with it some it almost feels like it's supposed to be deployed using both hands.

    Great vid, 5*'s.

  • I have this exact blade... bought it at wal mart on a whim and I LOVE this thing. It is my current EDC blade and I don't expect to change that any time soon. Very fine knife that I would recommend to anyone for the EDC needs. Thanks for yet another great vid. Keep on rockin', Nutn!

  • Through! Keep them coming, wonderful information.

  • you rock Nutn, great review as always

  • Darn it, Nutn, I thought I was done with knives for this year... now I realize I need another toy ^^ And I need it BAD - not sure what it is but there's something incredibly sexy about this blade...

    You're straining my budget :D

Volunti non fit iniuria so keep the reviews coming bro.

I really appreciate your (and Veri's) hard work.

  • I just ordered a black Barrage. With your reviews around I doubt I'll ever have enough stuff ^^

    You rock bigtime, man.

  • Ooooh, that Damascus steel is freaking beautifull!

  • I love my Kershaw blackout and scallion. great brand with quality products and great customer service for any issues you may have (at least in my 1 experience with a quality issue)

  • Kershaws are great and well worth the money

  • awesome reviews like always ...i am looking for a good edc/ tac knife any suggestions/
