Hey dont wanna sound like a jerk but just had to say this cause I love cats. lets just say if the gorilla did not kill the kitty and its just super safe to keep kittens with this ape why wasn't she given another after one of the kitties died? huh? F idiots please stop giving this APE kittens PLEASE!!!!!
@mack11223 im not sure i understand what you are trying to say..she had a kitten that was hit by a car and it was hard to deal with but to replace it would be the logical thing to do. koko is very gentle with the kittens and treats them as her own baby. so whats the problem?
@mack11223 Go fuck yourself, idiot. Seriously, just kill yourself. Everyone in the comment section that read your comment just got brain cancer. Thanks for reading, fuck yourself with a rake.
Wait, is this the young hippie girl from Koko: A Talking Gorilla which I've just done watching? And dang, Koko got huge. Is Michael still alive? Do they have talking monkey children? Is Koko now a master at using keyboard words in English. How many words/signs does it know? Where can I learn more about what's been happening with Koko from the time of the documentary to the present day.
@PushMyCarr Yes its now Dr. Penny Patterson and Michael's is dead. Koko new mate is Ndume. No monkey children yet. Koko can read and understand verbal English but only can sign responses. Koko understands and uses over 1000 words of sign.--
The way Koko interacts with the kittens is adorable. I like how all her random shifting is actually her oiving to stop the kitten from getting away from her.
I look forward to finding out what happens with the kitten. It would be wonderful if Koko could adopt. I know she pretended to nurse her stuffed-Gorilla babies. Perhaps she would produce milk for an adopted baby after a short while. I feel like that is part of the "whole" dream. But I would love to see her have the dream of a baby come true.
@superspiffz In the special on PBS some years back, Penny explained that there is usually one male and several females in a Gorilla family. They thought at that time that Koko probably didn't feel "right" with the situation. It may tell about it on their web site (koko.org). You can purchase the PBS documentary named "Conversations with Koko" on the website. Hope this helps. Ann
@sixaremycharms yeah, I noticed...especially when I try to post more than two comments on one page...it's like pulling teeth to get something to post! LOL
I never subscribed to a channel until now, and the video seems to be taking an awful long time to load. Has anyone else noticed this? I love watching these videos, but they seemed to load a lot faster before I subscribed. :(
@ChineseCow709 but if they upload faster the other way, it is. I LIKE watching these, just not waiting forever. Could be my computer, who knows. It's only a year old, though.
@hollybee43 It's akin to when we humans go to a pet store or visit the humane society, and there's always that "one" particular puppy or kitten we are drawn to. Why should it be any different for Koko? They are our closest relatives, after all.
lol it's almost like she picks them out by smell there at the end :P *Sniff Sniff* Na not this one. I hope she gets her own gorillia baby! ... Is she too old to have her own? or would it be to dangerous for her to be with a male gorillia? Then again there's alway artificial insemination
This is extremely interesting, I love watching Koko actually thinking and communicating with these people, these folks are the best and have devoted nearly their entire lives to Koko, most of us would say that Koko has had a good life, yet part of me feels very sad for her...
@dale3858 I'm thinking Koko has had a much better life than most gorillas. Granted, she's not in the wild where she belongs, but neither have gorillas in their natural habitats been given the opportunity to actually own and love a kitten, much less show us that they have the capability to do so. Koko obviously enjoys the ability to communicate her feelings to humans as well, and when you think of all we've learned about these magnificent creatures, it's hard to imagine a world without her.
@dale3858 Well, me too....perhaps someday there will be a way to communicate to Koko the world's appreciation for all we've learned from her and her alone. Now that is kind of sad, not knowing if she realizes what a contribution she's made to the world and our much greater understanding of her species. If that's not an amazing thing to learn, I don't know what is. I only wish more people could appreciate what these people have accomplished and shared with us.
You obviously have not been following her story. She wants a baby, in captivity so far that has not been possible. In nature she probably would have experienced a baby. We need to protect these animals in their own environment, so they can live normal lives without worry of being killed for their meat or fur. A circus may be safer too, but we know that it's not better.
The reason why she had no baby is because she spent most of her time learning to communicate with humans, and yes. I have been following her story, i know its too late for her to have a baby now. There are over 700 wild gorillas, and that population is declining. So no matter how you put it, she had a much better life then she would've had if she just stayed in the wilds. Also, one gorilla not giving birth is completely out-weighed by the researched done by koko and her carers.
@TheDarklord0211 No, there are times when she wasn't spending her time to communicate with humans and try to reproduce but couldn't. And was it Koko's fault that the gorilla's population is declining? No. It's humans' fault. And if it wasn't for humans, Koko's life would have been much better in the wild. But noo, humans have to sit on their big asses and show all the reasons why it's okay to keep them captivity and poach them when there's all the reason to not to do that.
@dale3858 I get that feeling too. Maybe it's because of Koko, that I realize how intelligent our cousins in the primate tree are? How much we, and they, could learn from eachother.
thats very interesting, she smells the kitten and immediately knows that kittens not for her. but instead of harming the kitten she gently puts it down.
