Saw a mouse doing this yesterday at Petco just running around in circles under its water bottle. Owning rats I know a similar thing occurs when they have inner ear infections, they cannot walk straight and tend to lean towards the side which is infected. Unfortunately as cute as it is watching them run around in circles it also means they are suffering from an inner ear infection and without treatment this can eventually kill them :[

Hes got something called waltzing mouse syndrome. It causes their back legs to form abnormaly thus causing them to only be able to run in circles.

I had my lazy cat in my lap while i was watching this video. All she did was perk up, but she payed attention to it the whole time. When the video ended, she rested her head and then jumped out of my lap. Then she tried to sleep on the floor.

Wow. I searched "mouse running circles" because I, too, just filmed one doing this exact thing. Mine was going WAY faster though. I think I'm more inclined to believe the inner ear imbalance/infection than the "waltzing mouse" story. I will post video soon. My mouse was in a cornfield miles from people, so I don't think he was poisoned. Wait til you see my vid!

Zombie mice? I don't know about the rabies theory. Coffee beans, maybe? I mean it did it for as long as I was watching it, about 10 minuets. people we still watching it when I looked back a ways down the trail. Maybe it's head got whacked or something? my girlfriend and i saw a mouse do that just the other day, did some research and found both interesting and absurd reasons for it. We could have caught it and kept it as a pet cause we thought it was sick but it could have had rabies :(

Just tonight I saw a mouse on Edinburghs Calder Road doing this but it was also acting really weird and kind of spasming occasionally when it stopped to look up at me. It had also managed to eat its own tail off and it was still chasing the stump. I mean even when I got down and lightly tapped the mouse it was still not in fear of me. Weird! Is this rabies?
