@Oliver2860 The seizures used to be only once or twice a year, but last for 20 minutes or more, with a long post-ictal stage that lasted all night. One day he just quit having long seizures, but now they are more frequent. He has a 5 minute episode about every other day now, without even seeming post-ictal afterwards. Not sure why.
thank you for posting this my 4 month old poodle mini started doing this earlier tonight and we never did see her have a seizure but at least now we know to take her to the vet in the am.....she wasnt drooling she never has drooled and ive spent 2 hours trying desperately to find a video to show another dog going through the head shaking thing..... im sorry i hope your pooch is doing better but i do thank you for posting this video
He is normal on the meds. It took him a week to get used to the pills when we started him on them, and then a week again when we upped his dosage. Its hard to watch the dog get used to a new dosage - he was slipping and tripping all over the place.
It looks like a seizure to me.. ._. poor thing.. My dog's never had a seizure before, but a friend of my grandmother's has. The entire left side of his face stopped working afterwards. Hope nothing happens to him.. D:
@dolphin123678 you should see your vet about this. Seizures are dangerous because they raise dog's body temperatures to dangerous levels, among other risks. The dog in this video is now on daily medicine, and it sounds like maybe yours should be too.
Update: Months ago, he had a long series of seizures that prompted me to take him to the Animal ER. He had a couple more seizures there, and he now takes 60mg of phenobarbital every day. He has only had one seizure since starting the meds.
We keep a record of every seizure and they are monthly. He skipped a month here and there. They used to last 24 hours but now, only a couple of hours and he can usually sleep it off. It sounds crazy but the energy YOU put out towards him really affects the seizure. When you see them happening, start a routine. Keep house quiet, put him in a fave chair and go about your business. Check on him but the more "status quo" you are the better he reacts. Anxiety plays a big part...
My dog has these seizures monthly. He is on potassium bromide which has helped. The thing with these I am finding is all in the way you handle it. If you keep him calm, house quiet, he will eventually sleep it off. We used to get all crazy and panicky and he would sense it which in turn raised his anxiety and the seizures would worsen. Vets says it is not epilepsy but are treating it as such. Do not use Phenylbarbitol...changes dogs personality. Lately he is skipping a month.
yeah, i am pretty sure that your dog has grand mal or petite mal siezures. I have seen worse siezures in my own dog, it's so sad cuz all the vet tells you to do is watch the dog and make sure it doesn't hurt itself. Sorry that you had to endure this. You must really love your dog. I could never sit and watch the whole thing, i'd bawl my eyes out.,
Help ur poor dog!!!!!

most definitely had a seizure. Exact same as my dog when she comes out of it.
How is Donner on the meds? Looked like the dog might have been having a cluster seizure at the end.
