I don't know why it's fashionable for so many people to hate evolutionary psychology, it's probably the LEAST harmful of all the fields within psychology when you actually look into it and arn't claiming falsities like "It justifies rape" etc. I think if all theories at least acknowledge evolution and it's consequences (our minds obviously evolve too, not our bodies) then they could improve, though I don't know about evolutionary psychology actually helping people with mental disorders etc...

Evolutionary Psychology does explain altruistic and loving behaviors. Being Altruistic can lead to the fitness of your kin, thus passing on similar genes. It can also promote altruism directed towards you in the future.
