I think Matthew Perry is actually doing a great job here. He has obviously some great thoughts about comedy, and is clearly a bit of a student of comedy. At least more than a lot of comedy actors these days.

Genius it is no doubt but I wonder about the 'comedy' - it is in the end very bleak. My money would be on Alan Partridge for unadulterated comedy genius..

Isn't it funny that all, without exception, masterful tv comedy is not British per se but ENGLISH, from Fawlty Towers through to early Alexei Sayle, Chris Morris, Phoenix Nights, Strutter, The Office, Alan P. (and not forgetting Coogan's Saxondale),The English have a knack for comedy genius which is unique and second to none.

@Guedingen Still Game, Only an Excuse, Chewin' the fat, Limmys Show, Gary Tank Commander and a few more are all brillant Scottish comedies. Although, I am glad you mentioned Saxondale, it's horribly under rated. Wrangler Pro rodeo.

David Baddiel has spoilt all these clips. He's always the unfunny one in double acts and his attempt at a (Friends rip-off) sitcom was beyond tragic.
