M5E34's have 2 engines, S38B36 and S38B38... A 3.6 litre model and a 3.8 litre model.

The 3.6 had 314bhp, the 3.8 had 340bhp.

The Nürburgring Edition 3.8 had 355bhp and more competetive suspension and overall torgue and performance.

Seriously! It had an amazing sound. It was blowing slightly but it used to turn heads & not because it was loud. It was a sweet sound.

I know an M5 sounds great but it's probably down to the limits of the mic or just avergae sound quality.

you're not proving anything except the fact you think you can compare an inline 4 to a hand built m5 inline 6.

For future reference, An E34 520i has a straight 6 engine (M50B20) or in-line as you like to call it.

It sounds fantastic & is very distinctive.

I know how good an E34 M5 (S38B36 & S38B38) engine sounds. My comment expressed my dissapointment at how the sound in the video came out.

Anybody else who fails to recognize that is an idiot. Read & think!

You´re right. I dont know where i got this information but i really thought E34 m5 has a 3,8L V8 stock. But now it really turned out to be a L6. No need to wonder why it sounded so much like the stock E34 m5 engine :D Someone did bullshit me telling that it was V8:D Seems that there was no V8s in M5s before the E39. Anyways sounds and power output is kickass.

In E36 M3's were mounted S50B30 and S50B32 engines. That S38B38 is original E34 M5 engine [Displacement 3.8 litre, Power 344.7 PS (340.0 bhp) (253.5 kW) @ 6900 rpm, Rev limiter @ 7250rpm]. Best regards :D
