The football conference CP is in is the Great West, until 2012, they will be in the Big Sky Conference then...and the full name is California Polytechnic State University. The fight song is pretty cool though...its one of my favorites...but I might be a bit biased

California Polytechnical of San Luis Obispo is pretty popular. Maybe the most famous FCS California school, not to mention one of much fewer California football schools (others like UC-Davis, Sacromento State, and San Diego). Cool fight song from a popular school.

Also when Cal Poly played Wisconsin I honestly thought Cal Poly was the better team that day and would have won (and probably not even gone into overtime) had the kicker made those XPs. Pretty good to outplay a bowl bound FBS team. Only other team to do that recently is Appalachian State in 2007, who beat what turned out to be a good Michigan team.

Cal Poly put more yards on Wisconsin than any FBS team did.. does anyone else realize how crazy that stat is?

That's kind of surprising, shocking actually. I keep thinking back to Penn State's 48-7 win, but I think Penn State kept getting the ball with superb field position all game.

@MVillani1985 It is one of the more amazing football stats out there.. too bad about those missed PATs or a lot more people would know, but what can you do.

It was two missed PATs away from being another Appalachian State-Michigan. And Wisconsin was not a cellar dweller, either, change a few plays and they beat Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State. The Cal Poly-Wisconsin game was certainly a really fun shootout to watch, it's apparent just how much the FCS is improving. I think maybe we should recombine the FCS and FBS into Division I just like in the past whenever college football decides to switch to a proper playoff format.
