@TheIceman567 Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Overinterpretation all over the place! I mean to say that only a serious survey gives significant results, and that a survey where only a very few persons are questionned is certainly not serious.
f they went and asked random Americans in the streets the same questions but about french politicians....I am 100% sure most of people wouldn't know much about it. Especially 2 random U.S girls.... they would be like "Sarkozy...who is that?"
I have lived in States for a while and I am not trying to say that all americans are ignorant but let's face it - most Americans know little or even nothing about foreign political life. Yet they manage to have strong opinions on every subject.
@Smiley0091 It's true, but it's not the American's fault, no one in America reports on French politics or builds up an interest in foreign lands. Even here in Quebec I think we get alot more information about American domestic politics than politics in France. They're so powerful they pretty much eclipse all of the other countries' influence.
Don't forget we're the county that invented fashion! Well, if I had the slightest interest in fashion, I would propably manage to take pride in that, but...
@88Sabrine88 I am truely sick of the Anti American steryotypes some of you Europeans just tend to make up. You judge 300 million people based on what you see on TV. Stop being so ignorant.
@smokndarasta I think you should be careful who you're calling ignorant. OK, maybe I was wrong to judge the whole of your population but I'm merely stating a fact, what is the case with MOST people, not all people. Sorry if I've offended you, but I've realised through experience that the Americans out of all races of the world (generally) are the ones who tend to think the world consists of the United States only. But, anyway, you guys are cool, I mean you invented burgers. Gotta love that. ;)
@88Sabrine88 Ya, because Im sure all citizens of the world besides Americans wake up every morning just dying to find out how the Mongolian economy is doing , or how acid rain is destroying forests in Poland.
@smokndarasta So you're admitting American people tend to be a bit self-centered, right ? Well, the responsibilities are not entirely yours, the media also play a great part in that, seeing they are even less free and more government-controlled than in France, which says something.
1 euro is 1.34 dollars, and maybe it wasn't clear in the translation but she was talking specifically about healthcare (i.e. there are many American people left without healthcare cos they it's unafordable), not about the cost of life in general. Life in France actually is a good deal more expensive than in the US, meaning we here have less purchasing power seeing that we have the same GDP per capita.
But then inequality of wealth is less extreme in France than in the USA so French working class people may not automatically have that much less PPP GDP/capita than American working class people, - maybe it's mainly our rich people who are less rich lol- besides money being less important here seeing we have many free or quasi-free public services (healthcare etc), and also the French simply work less
What do the Americans need a health insurance for? They have the most powerful army in the world, and evil enemies are, of course, far more life-threatening than a lack of medical care!
- USA is largest , con sceam on earth ,, THEY speak one thing and do another ,, Impaerialsit war for OIL and world domination continues ,, under OBAMA BUSH or whoever ,.,, OBAMA is justa puppet put in to be president , by bigg BUSSINESS to ease , killings of USA troops in IRAQ to please muslim world ,,
The "socialist" question was funny. The USA is shifted so far to the right, compared to France, our democrats are more like their UMP and the Republican party is closer to their National Front. Sarkozy would be like a democrat here.
"The "socialist" question was funny. The USA is shifted so far to the right, compared to France, our democrats are more like their UMP and the Republican party is closer to their National Front. Sarkozy would be like a democrat here."
That's very true! But the National Front is quite different from the GOP though (the GOP doesn't have the kind of ethno-nationalism of the NF and it's fanatically pro-free market when the NF stands for protectionism and a strong public sector)
Mind you, the Republican Party also stands for protectionism and a strong public sector (the Pentagon, the NASA etc which play a very important role in the US economy), they just pretend to be pro-market for propaganda purposes. It also stands for a big welfare state.... for the rich. lol
But "socialist" being a a dirty word is an amusing American-only thing.. Remnants of McCarthyism...
I think the American Democrats are a far further on the right wing than UMP or other European right wing parties. The Democrats barely managed to come together to put forward some tiny public health care for people in USA. Where ever there are right wing parties in Europe they are still commited to the health care and social system plus governments hold vast stakes in many companies, television, energy, transport etc etc, totally unheard of in USA I believe.
@dalebsorry I'm pretty sure, the U.S. is much farther left than it was fifty years ago. Every Presidential hero was a democrat, except for Reagan. And people still hated him.
@rodney346 Abraham Lincoln was a Republican...your saying he wasen't a hero president? And your comment about Reagan is inaccurate. There have been many surveys taken over the last 10 years about former presidents and Ronald's popularity has either stayed the same, or risen higher in the past decade. Plus, I grew up in the 80's, I remember the 1984 election. He won 49 of the 50 states. You don't achieve that by NOT being popular :)
@boborappa I don't dissagree with that. But the person who I was responding to said that "Every Presidential hero was a democrat, except for Reagan. And people still hated him." Every president has its critics, just informing him that when surveys are taken even today, he is still widely popular. Im not agreeing or dissagreeing with is politics, just saying he is still generally regarded as popular president to this day.
France elected a Jewish President, technically when you look History it's more revolutionary then a Black President. The only problem is that Sarko is Zionist and pro New World Order. He will destroy France to create Europe, like Obama will destroy the USA to create the North American Union and who knows maybe they will destroy the world togheter to create the New World Order, lol!
New World Order plusieurs fois.
