Incense And Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock [Santa Barbara, California] - No.01 on 10/14/1967. 14 weeks Top 40 - "CLASSIC Rocker for the flower children." - Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era (Disc 2)-1998. NOTE: The first LP released by the band and the only LP of their career to make an impact on the album charts, it reached #1 nationally.
Just before Christmas, 1967, my grade-school classmates and I went to a party at a local roller-skating rink.
Instead of organ music, the rink played rock 'n roll records.
I tried to roller-skate, but had to give up (because I couldn't get the hang of it) just as they started playing the Strawberry Alarm Clock's "Incense and Peppermints".
I took off my roler-skates, and started dancing in the corner!
