chinese are lying about Nanking massacre, china had no exact population statistic system on that time, how they know how many killed in Nnaking? plus, japanese was killed the chinese soldiers who hide in refuge camps with arms and attacked japanese army secretly. Japan didn't kill that much civilians. viva free tibet !!
Photographs purported to be evidence of a massacre in Nanking are on display at the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall, at other exhibitions, and in printed publications. However, recent scientific research has revealed that there are no photographs attesting to a massacre in Nanking. At least 143 pictures are distorted, are fabricated, or are used for the Nanking Massacre pictures which were from different areas and different times by Chinese government.
1) Don’t buy Japan’s cancer causing radiation polluted products, especially food. The Japanese government lied about the safety of their exported food products.
@undertakerRach 2) Don’t marry a Japanese person; if you do, try not to have any children because they are carrying a radiation mutated gene, resulting from the two well deserved American A-bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to force a quick surrender of Japan ending WWII, and the recent earthquake-tsunami triggered nuclear accident at Fukushima.
@undertakerRach 3) Choose another tour destination because the radiation level is still high around Japan and the Japanese government is not forthright about the severity of the nuclear accident. If you must go for business or work, don’t forget to bring your daily dose of iodine pills, good luck.
@undertakerRach 4) Furthermore, because of the intrinsic geological condition of Japan, not to let appearances fool you, another earthquake-tsunami is imminent, not a question of “if” it happens but “when”. Keep this in mind.
Japanese brutality in China can be traced back to two things - The Japanese were taught they were a "superior" race to others; and the brutalisation of Japan's own military rank-and-file through an extremely harsh disciplinary regime during the massive build-up of Japan's forces after the 1st World War. This led to Chinese natives being viewed as "stones" to be trod on or kicked aside, and psychotic levels of random violence on occasion to punish and intimidate the populace.
I agree with what director Lu Chuan says. His film was very successful. I just saw it in the Toronto Film festival, and saw audience touched by this film.
It really got me thinking what life really means? Just sleeping and eating or live with a strong conviction?
Also, while Germans apologized to the victims, why the Japanese government has no courage to do the same? Japan must recognize their war crimes in order to regain respect from the World.
I see. Nobody else is allowed to have any opinion about Japanese war crimes? We lost a lot of people when we were stopping the war crazed brainwashed Japanese nation. We gave Japan their constitution. But americans are not allowed to have an opinion regarding Japanese war crimes. Everybody else in the world already knows what happened. Trying to hide history is a wasted effort. We are waiting to see Japan atone to their crimes and make things right with China and the rest of asia.
This was a great movie. It is time for the story to be told. Not just Nanking, but the entire Japanese holocaust of the chinese. Outside of asia, most people have no idea. Even in Japan, they have no idea what happened. My father in law was in Nanking in 1937, He saw everything, and he was captured and tortured by the japs. He was one of the few that survived.
Japan has been looking for ersures for the past 50 years. If it wasnt for us, you would all be working on a collective farm right now. I am 100 percent certain you have not even seen this movie. You just came to linger, looking for your lost erasure. Thank god for the atom bomb!! It stopped a ruthless people.
I have a lot of chinese friends. We collaborate on projects at work, I have many friends who went back to china to run their own companies. I have never experienced any unfriendliness in China. When I walk down the street, people come up to me to talk to me. They look me straight in the eye, and I can see they really like to talk to me. Why in Japan, nobody talks. When I pass, people look down. Its is very different.
I think it is worthy to watch a movie made by someone who made so much research.
He has a well balanced opinion, it could help people (I hope) from the chinese and japanese side to change their opinion, and reduce mutual prejudices.
But one thing is important to keep in mind, this is what happenned about 70 years ago, now Japan is an (overly) peace-loving country. Current japanese people are absolutely not to blame.
I wonder how they're gonna deal with the Yasukuni shrine at the end tho.....
I remain curious why anyone would deny this happening(the nanking event). It happened many years ago, discover the facts and events to unearth the truth and accept it as History.
Germans aren't nazis but they can admit their government was at one time. Americans aren't lynching blacks outside and burning crosses like KKK members but they can admit their countrymen have at one time and so forth. So I remain confused.
You need a very calm and steady mind to make an unsensational film about the Hell that was Nanking in 1937/38. Lu Chuan seems to be a director who can pull this off.
unsensational? how about just down right STUPID? this is a stupidest film about Nanjiang ever made. as a film maker, you wanna talk about history TALK ABOUT HISTORY, and history of Nanjiang in 12/37 ain't what this stupid film portraited. the idea that japs were somehow remorseful as depicted in the film is PURE BULLSHIT, no more, no less!
@1greatdude And actually it's historically inaccurate. Just an example: the scene in the church where tje Japanese "ask" for 100 confort women, and John Rabe explains it, and then the women step forward... NEVER happen like that. It was a school,@1greatdude And actually it's historically inaccurate. @ChenzaiNam [continuation] It was a school, not a church; the Japanese didn't ask, but entered it by force -it was outside the Safety Zone, if im not wrong-; the women refused to go and would give their lifes b4 submitting to the Japanese army; John Rabe didn't speak out, it was a Chinese guy from the Swastika Society; and those women who stepped forward were prostitute refugees, not the girls of the school. John Rabe describes this scene in his diary.

this is China and a Japanese problem. As for this, the American does not matter.
It is not only this movie. Chinese state televisions continue forming several hundred and an anti-Japan propaganda program every year.
This is almost state of war.

okay so he wants to show how regular ppl can turn into devils on the batterfield.
having watched the movie, i can not see that.
he is faking an internal conflict of a japanese solider and using this unrealistic character as a main story line to show how devils have hearts, too.
I do not deny the existence of this point and struggles of the "bad side" in history.
What I suggest is not to use 30,0000 innocent lives to express a topic that is mainly humanitarian and anti-war in general.
