What I find kind of confusing about this video and that makes it kind of hard to understand (for me) is that the girl is going backwards but the guy is going forwards.

Some people mentioned played the video backwards to get the meaning but that really doesn't help.

I've always kind of interpreted it as, she's going backwards because she's withdrawing from him (emotionally, physically, whatever), and he's going forward because he's so deeply in love with her and is continuing to pursue her. But, hey, that's just me. I hope you get some other opinions!

They're not that popular in Canada, and MTV don't play Canadian stuff unless its a really huge hit. Many bands here don't market overseas. And this vid only peaked at 18 on MuchMusic's Top 30 Countdown so it didn't get played much. Its my 2nd fave song from them, after "Out Of My Head". It's one of my favourite videos, I think its beautiful.

hm i think in the vid the girl wearing blk is dead and thats y he says "i look from far above as u sleep n dream" and when they r going backwards i think he is trying to erase the memories of her same with the paint its white as if trying to white out all the memories of her.. and thats why he says "y r we born to fade away"cause she died and in the end "as i stood outside all alone i thought i heard you".. very touching song anyways thats my interpretation of it :) hope it helped

Mobile is such an amazing band. They are incredibly talented Canadian Band. I agree that this song is about the distance between a couple hence the, we fall apart, chorus in the background. The wedding dress signifies the falling apart because it symbolizes a wedding or commitment which these two have just broken up or grown apart. The only thing i don't quite understand is the part were she dips her arms and hands into the suitcase of white paint that they guy has.

The video is supposed to be depicted backwards, so in other words, the video should be played backwards. If you play it backwards, you see the white dress (wedding dress), and the guy puts the dress into a suitcase, and it becomes WHITE PAINT, and SHE PUTS HER ARMS IN IT (her putting on the dress), showing that she was marrying him. But then she takes her arms out of the paint and walks away from him, showing the broken bond. Try imagining the video going BACKWARDS and you'll understand.

Know what, after listening to this song once more, I'm thinking that this song is not meant to be viewed backwards. Rather, it is meant to be viewed forwards. She is wearing a black dress throughout the entire video. There is also use of pathetic fallacy in the rain that falls immediately after she takes her hands out of the paint. The removal of the paint symbolizes them "Falling apart" like the lyrics. The dress is lying on the ground haphazardly, in a manner befitting of a bride's dress.

Love this song, but weird video. But as long as you have a beatiful girl in it, it doesn't matter how weird it is. Just my thought, I think the song is about disconnection in a relationship and that's where you see the guy walking forward while the girl is walking backwards or vise versa if you were to rewind this video. And the white wedding dress in the end, I'm not exactly sure what role that plays.
