  • This is wonderful. I recently refused to take out any further loans for my education and still have two years left on my degree. Now I'm cutting costs everywhere just to make my payments, which are around $1,400 a month.

I hope this does bring attention to the rising cost of school, and great job for making school go right, no matter what. Non-college attendees may not have student loans or debt to pay but they also don't get the amazing life experience that is college education.

  • I don't want to go to college. I do and I don't. I love to learn, but I hate the pressure. I would love to make an investment in myself, but it's not an investment; biochemistry, biology, psychology, and humanities majors have a hard time finding jobs. The only way to be guaranteed a job anymore is to go into some kind of engineering program, with tons of math and physics.

I'm really starting to question whether university is worth the stress, time, and money.

    So is college even

  • r u peeved about tuition? Go to MY YouTube channel & see my latest video -- and the video notes about my petition -- MY petition will become permanently lodged in the Whitehouse website if I get only 97 more signatures before December 21, 2011. -- See either my channel or my personal, namesake websites, which are listed in my channel and also the same as my name with dot com on the end of it. -- If you want chance, look at AND SIGN my petition & ask your friends to sign too. -- Just do it!

  • It's funny that this video is about not having enough money or struggling to pay for college and at the same time the bad they used to carry the money is Gucci which probably costed $1,000.

  • $14,000?? That's puny. Why is he complaining when he's paying so little, even for a public school? Does he realize that most high-tier private schools make you pay triple that amount? I mean Carnegie Mellon tuition is $50,000!!!

Yes, the tuitions ARE expensive, but they, in turn, help build the school's reputation through improved education and research, which help you earn more money throughout your career! That's why state colleges can't match the rigor of private schools!

  • @icaako This student is not attending a private university. He's attending a public school. People who attend private universities expect to spend a lot of money. For those who want a quality public education, the cost is prohibitive for a quite a few.

  • why so many thumbs downs? this is brilliant.

  • The thing is... $14,300 isn't very high when it comes to university tuition. It's true that CU Bolder is a public university, but as they said, $65 per hour of class, when you take into consideration the professor's salary, the salaries of faculty such as cleaning staff and library staff, facilities maintenance, etc., it doesn't seem too bad. I attend a private university, which costs upwards of $46,000 per semester. I should try getting that in singles.

  • the solution to CU and other university tuition hikes is here!! Just watch...

    watch?v=dsQV0mnXTTo

It's time for Universities and Colleges to step up and Take the Lead!

  • Awesome stunt! If they want to mess with us students with their outrageous tuition bills, then why dont we turn it around, and mess with them in return? It's only fair. Students bust their ass for tuition money so it's legit that you only waste their time for such a debt!

  • News flash - University of Boulder doesn't care that they were paid in $1 bills as long as they are paid. If you really wanted to "show them," you should have taken your business elsewhere. All you did was bully the already low-paid and under-appreciated people working in your school's finance office. You don't have any control of the school's tuition, so you controlled whether or not the clerks had a shitty day. Loser.

  • You te best dude!! hehe

  • Pay the tuition in pennies.

  • imagine if he got robbed right there Xb

  • while it's a good thing for the student to realize really how much money he was throwing around, i agree that the stunt probably will make no difference at the school. there are many things that need to be payed with that tuition money besides the immediate ones you think of.

not only that, i'm highly unimpressed by the quality of this video. it seems to be a very low-key production with noise in the background, you don't get to hear the questions asked, and the cuts were not very well done.

  • for ONCE i agree with the top comment. I am sure the president of the college neither cared nor was even concerned with your childish stunt. You will go to school and eventually you will make enough money to pay off your bills like every other college student has to do unless they have oprah for parents.

You made a lot of work for people and your point was useless. Perhaps you need to stay in economics to get more of an education only I will also add you are a moron

  • Boy, you sure showed them....

Next time pay with pennies, then get back to us.

  • It would be cool to pay it in gold or silver, but that would be illegal.

$14,000 = nearly 10 oz in gold, or 500 oz in silver.

  • Thank you Nic Ramos...

  • 14k in pennies, nickels and dimes.... and a fork-lift.

  • A bunch of privileged faggots and a meaningless gesture. Fuck them and their grandstanding. The university should have refused (they can, legally).

  • I like this... but agree that paying with silver dollars would be another great angle. I guess though that the sheer bulk of cash does prove the point though. Excellent job illustrating the point.

  • @themassiveink what point? theres no point.

  • Comment removed

  • If he were a true economics student, he would have paid with 632 pre-1964 silver dollars (silver spot $29.26) and explained WHY tuition is rising as a result of FED inflation and cheap student loans.

  • where is their reaction? Where is the rest of the video?

  • This has NO profound message on the tuition hike. Instead you just made the day of some innocent worker (who had no effect on tuition price) a lot worse. For what? So you can selfishly learn the value of your education? Nic Ramos is an asshole.

  • Let me get this straight. You do all you can to get good enough grades to get into a college. you searching around for the best college for the amount of money you can afford. And then you insult that college by doing something stupid that sends no message about anything other than what a douche bag you are ? I think the only clear message here is clearly you deserve a refund because your education level is no more than that of a fifth grader !

  • Who in the world made you go out of state? Why should the people of Colorado pay for you to come study in their state?

  • If you think something is too expensive no one is forcing you to buy it.

  • So he can't protest if he can well afford the tuition? That means white people can't join the cause against racism against black people... straight people can't fight for gay rights... you and I can't fight against hunger. Anybody can pay their tuition via a check. At least he has the balls to make a statement.

  • its about 45,000 a year to attend private boarding schools. not to mention universities that are pushing 60,000.14,000 isnt much in comparison

  • You are a turd burglin, pole smokin, silver spoon fed scum bag.

  • Wow, lame. youtube.com/watch?v=J3TkKNR--Eg

  • this isn't funny, my video is funny

  • wah wah wah, everything cost more now, get over it

  • Its too damn expensive to get an education these days. Its great you trying to put a perspective on what its costs to get an education. These big colleges and even the coumnity ones are RAPING people.

From someone who spent $70,000 for 2 years for a degree he didn't even get to finish, I SUPPORT YOU!!!!

  • Damn his angled eyebrows scare the fuck out of me....thumbs up if you agree.

  • Nick, keep it up. Effective marketing.

  • To bad illegal immigrants have to pay double or even triple for tuition to get a good education

  • You wasted you money on tuition. You should have acquired heavy metals, silver and lead. Good luck finding a job when you graduate, unless you plan to be a nurse, a cop or prison guard, or move to China and assemble crap for Walmart.

  • Epic tool! Not only is his idea f'd up, his eyebrows are all f'd up too! $65/hour is only around 15 credits, take a full load like 18 credits and save your parents some cash - each hour would only cost you $53/hour! When you figure in all of the costs, your tuition is still highly subsidized!

  • This guy completely kicks ass! I love this idea!

  • Comment removed

  • EPIC WIN! YOU ARE MY HERO

  • The real outrage should be the illegal immigrants getting in state tuition and public assistance while American born and raised citizens paying the higher rate. Now that would be a video!

  • What an entitled little shithead. And I'm sure the work-study students working in the bursar's office really got the "message" he was trying to get across as they were paid overtime (out of the school's budget, naturally) to process his payment. Go cry to your mom and dad you spoiled little cunt.

  • Too bad the only people you affected by this whole stunt was hard working tellers at your bank and innocent people working in your school's business office. You made their job 100x harder so you can get your 2 minutes of attention. You prove nothing by this except you are a big clown. Try writing a letter next time to your school's president and stop wasting people's time.....or is that too boring and won't land you on CNN?

  • @sectiona If I was that teller I would be happy to count it. It is an awesome idea. I would not only have been happy to count it, but it would have made my day!

  • @sectiona and the award for the dumbest youtube comment goes to you my friend.... you have won a slap in the face to wake you up from the stupidity that rules your everyday decision making... CONGRATS!!!

  • @sectiona They do have machines that count dollar bills. You're way too rash at calling him a "clown" or an idiot, but that's the typical response when someone disagrees on Youtube. He clearly has more imagination than you.

  • @sectiona Yeah cause its such painstaking work to count. Give me a break. They're counting money not building a skyscraper. You get paid to do a job.

  • @sectiona you dumb ass...they have machines that count the money...IDIOT!

  • What would be even more interesting is how many of those 14,000 $1 bills were consumed in Feds 40 year inflationary involvement in higher ed. Figure 10,000 bud!

  • What an example of a huge waste. In about six seconds after he 'graduates' he will discover his entire education is truly worthless. All he will have proven is he can complete a commitment. The 'job' world that colleges feed is dead.

  • Soooo.... that's nothing compared to our national debt...

  • they talk too fucking much.

  • Regardless of who's paying for it, Him or his Parents... the fact still remains RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH!!! err... tuition.

  • Comment removed

  • DOOOOOOPPEEE!!!!!

  • While you weren't paying attention predatory corporations took over your universities and they are running them like banks now. The corporation kicked out the "deadbeat" liberals and now are populated by ex-Big Business types who are scamming whats left of the middle class for all they are worth. They will empty your bank accounts to give you whats left of the American dream while they go to China with their jobs. Wake up kids, trust your common sense. something is wrong here.

  • @jackmcdaid53 Please name one university taken over by a "predatory" corporation. Universities are money losers, for the most part.

  • @TheLastBrainLeft And why should universities be driven by a profit motive? Try Dartmouth if you are looking for an example of predatory capitalism. "Vice president for alumni relations at Dartmouth, said there is an organized effort to bring politically conservative leadership to Dartmouth. In recent years, conservative media voices -- including the National Review and the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal -- have lent their support to the Big Green's outsider trustee candidates.

  • You're a fucking spoiled brat you dip shit. Fuck you! There are kids who don't have their fucking parents fucking shit for school and you are allowed to go to an out of state school? Give me a break. Go fuck yourself. You wasted a lot of other peoples time. You should be going to an instate school and save your parents some fucking money you spoiled fuck. And your body guard is a pussy anyone could take him down.

  • I like this guy. He has gumption.

  • He wasted a lot of people's time. How'd you like to be standing behind this guy at a bank or at the bursar's office waiting for them to count it out, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...

  • very cool.. now whos going to pay with just pennies?

  • what a tard

  • well wtf...it doesent show him do it?

  • I think he probably has never had to work a day in his life. If he had he would know that dumping this huge mess on someones desk is not a good way of protesting. I feel horrible for the people in the office. This is what happens when you have never had a real injustice happen to you in your life. Please grow up and shut up. Writing a letter to your congressman would have been more effective. Or do the world a favor and dont go to a for profit college.

  • I'd be a little more impressed if he was paying for it himself instead of blowing his parent's money.

What can you do with an "Economics Major" these days? Mommy and Daddy are essentially paying $14K a year for a five year reprieve from their son who will undoubtedly move back in with them after graduation and continue to mooch off them.

  • I hate the kids of the future, that is all.

  • Good job guys. Ignore these good little sheeple naysayers. If the government confiscated all their wealth in a midnight raid and killed their parents in the process, they'd still kiss the State's a**.

  • Welcome to the "new" America. Losers abounding.

  • Did he get all the singles working at the gay bar dancing?

  • There's a ton of ways to pay for college: scholarships, grants, payment plans, subsidized loans, the military. This guys chose none of those routes because he's too stupid for a full ride, too rich for a grant, too lazy to work, and too egotistical to get a loan or join the military. He deserves to pay $14,000.

  • @WoshJills you're smarter, ha? I finished my university in my country in Europe free, I came here and took the job of your kids as a software engineer. Oh, I forgot, they don't like real science, then gool luck to them. But still my friends legas immigrants took some of the economics jobs too. And they have no loans either. It is good to be clever.

The sad case is when temporary immigrants from india came here, get their PhD and they are still paid by Univ then they return in their country.

  • @bia4tm

One could look at it the other way,

Your home nation paid for you education hoping that will become a fruitful European citizen,

instead you take your skills to America.

    Smart Europeans.

  • @bia4tm I went to school here in America for free, it's called grants and scholar ships. Sad case is you hating on Americans because your an ignorant fuck who watches too much t.v.

  • @bia4tm What?

  • A.) It's not his money he's using.

    C.) He's a Sophomore - meaning he's lived in-state for two years!

You know why he is still paying out-of-state tuition? Because his parents claimed him as a dependent on their taxes that they pay in a different state.

They don't pay taxes in Colorado, so they should fuck off.

It wouldn't be so damn expensive if he would be a man and support himself instead of living off of mommy and daddy.

  • @WoshJills You might want to learn your alphabet before criticising people for going to uni!

You've no right to say every person that has had their parents work hard enough for them to go to college won't have been raised up to be independent and to make their own money. I'm in the UK and fees when i apply are going to be £9000/year. That's a crazy amount of money to pay - I'm going into debt, leave him alone if his parents want to pay for him. instead of letting him get into $14,000 of debt

  • What a pair of idiots. Looks like Mommy and Daddy are flushing their hard-earned money down the drain. I am sure they are so proud of their moron kid.

  • @msm318 Why's he such a moron? He clearly understands the value of money.

If I loved my kids I'd do all I could do give them a good headstart to their future - if i could pay for my kids' education i would and save them the $14,000 of debt...

  • Which one's the girl ?

  • He should have gone straight to the closest strip club! They never run out of ones!

  • The message would've been funnier had you gotten robbed you dumb bastard.

  • Just gonna throw this out there guys, he never said this was a protest. He said this is a message. Rather than seeing numbers on a screen he is showing the powers that be, This is what you are asking of many of your students. Do you really think this makes sense? Might there be a way to be a bit more feasible? He is affecting change in a less tried manner, and believe it or not, he is doing it calmly, rationally, and with minimum disruption. How dare he, eh?

  • @trapjohnson

None of the powers to be will see this douche's ineffectual gesture he'll just inconvenience everyone processing his payment and anyone with any control over tuition will just see that he has paid his 14K. Nothing will get he'll just ruin a few peoples day.

  • I hate everything about this

  • You complain about $14k tuition that you're probably not even paying for but you carry around a Gucci duffel bag. Nice job, douchebag.

I pay $110k a year for pharmacy school, you whiney little bitch.

  • In state tuition at UC in your home town is only $2,220 per semester. They also offer Economics as a major. So, what exactly is your point?

  • @Alanna74 His point is to send a message to the University of Colorado, where the in-state tuition is about $7,000 per semester... not all of us have a $2,220/semester in-state option, so I for one am happy he did it.

  • your eyebrows are weird.

  • YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

  • You're really hurting to pay that $14K held by your Gucci duffel bag, right?

    You are a huge douchebag.

  • @GangstahGumbo Yeah, let's just eliminate the blood-sucking Kulaks as a class. They're wealthy, so they're obviously class-enemies. Oh wait, then Stalin just turned around and murdered 30 million lower-class citizens... But I guess your version of class-jealousy is MUCH more rational than Stalin's, right?

  • @GangstahGumbo excellent point. excellent. haha :)

  • @GangstahGumbo it was ralph lauren

  • Comment removed

  • @GangstahGumbo You don't even know this kid. I've known him for a couple years now and he's not even close to a douchebag. Ever think with a name like Gangstah Gumbo that you might be the douche? He's going to school so he can afford those bags himself. Don't be envious because you didn't think about paying your University of Phoenix tuition this way.

  • @GangstahGumbo Do you know this man personally? Why such anger?

  • @GangstahGumbo I don't seea amonogram so how can u be so sure this is a Gucci?

  • @GangstahGumbo I don't see a amonogram so how can u be so sure this is a Gucci?

  • @GangstahGumbo I don't see a monogram so how can u be so sure this is a Gucci?

  • Is there a part two? I fell asleep through part one. Sorry.

  • should be titled, "2 Guys Talking About Paying Tuition in $1 Bills (and $100s and $20s)"

    what a non-video.

Also-- asking for change from a bank doesn't normally require "answering a lot of questions."

  • @sjaffe Actually, yes, getting change at a back does require by federal law a lot of questions when you want $14k in small bills. That's why they got $1k bills at the banks. The banks can't give out more than a certain amount per person per day.

That's why they have to go to many other banks and do this over and over until they get all singles.

  • @bsabruzzo ...so just get $1000 from each bank, stfu and stop trying to get everyone to pay attention to your entitled ass.

  • @sjaffe Yes, that would be good, but there aren't 14 banks in most areas, there may be 14 branches or 4 or 5 banks, but $1000 in singles triggers a watch at say Ban of America. So you go to 3 BoA and you are questioned.

So let's see: BoA, Chase, PNC, BB&T, CitiBank, SunTrust... after these, you are on the Fed watch for seeking singles (you happen to be profiled as a drug dealer or some nefarious type). Most banks have a $50 to $100 limit unless you have a business account. 140 banks, not poss

  • @bsabruzzo dude, i really don't care. i just hate these kids.

  • @sjaffe On a second note: I elieve he is doing a good thing. I know most colleges and universities have endowments that, even with this down economy, could pay for 50% of their students tuitions and still make enough in their endowment to continue this every year. Yet they continue to hike their tuition and they expect the government to give them handouts and tax breaks.

This is a voyer world. The guy does a thing and videos it. You don't have to watch.
