  • Fucking legend.

  • just plain badass from a true and real music genious

  • Boom Boom is my dads cousin

  • Du Ku Kim I remember that fight.

  • Comment removed

  • paul kickin out some nice piano there around 3:10 or so

  • He was the great one...It is a pity that all of the Foster the Retarded People, do not get the auto-tune Muzak out of their brainpans and find real music in their lives....Warren was big in Monroe La. with all of us cool kids who are now in different states of decomposition...

  • Awesome, Awesome, and Awesome... Thumbs Up from Brian G... -y

  • My mom knew boom boom when she was younger.. His cousin steve lived next door to my great grandma and boom boom would visit their a lot... My mom said she would hang out wit him and his cousin and always saw his limo parked next door to my great grandma... that was pretty cool to find out!! It was in wooster, ohio that his cousin steve and my mom and great grandma lived,

  • Boom Boom Pow (BlackEyedPeas) gets 102.5 mil views. This gets 146 thou. We need to educate others on what is good music. So many are lost.

  • The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long

  • read his biography surprised he lived as long as he did

  • Shove your Beyonces, Jayzees, Cheryl Coles and and the rest up where the sun don't shine.

    THIS is music!

  • a grey guitar! must have been "good luck" lol..

  • Warren,a fucking legend.

  • i love the comments on zevon tunes. "greatest there ever was" "RIP warren." "bob dylan wishes he was warren zevon." hell yes.

  • Bombbom would last five minutes in the cold of the vikings....

  • Just got into this guy..............far too late.Genius.

  • One of the best! RIP Warren.

  • I love this epic tracks of his.

  • Paul Shaffer is rockin' his ass off to this.

    I love it!!

  • And such a nice guy, too. Always autographed whatever I had for him to sign & always had the time to talk about the latest tour or album. R.I.P., Mr. Z.

  • How could anyone possibly dislike this??!

  • if Chuck Norris all of a sudden went ape shit, Warren Zevon would come back from the dead and save us all

  • @ricenbeans82 damn fucking straight

  • too much light in a very dark home womb, er world.

    A Master.

He did not die too soon. The world is a slow moving current with tidepools of brilliance that seep into the greater consciousness.

His body took him home. He never gave up.

    He died rock steady.

  • Now our shit is fucked up, RIP Warren

  • Zevon was 40 kinds of awesome with badass sauce on the side.

  • Hell yeah Big Warren. Awesome tune baby.

  • @zimmy2000 great man,, great song indeed

  • More talent in his little finger than in the entire ROck n Roll Hall of Lame.

  • Awesome song about an awesome boxer! Boom Boom was a heck of a fighter... Miss the good old days of boxing.

  • " If You can't take the Punches, It don't mean a Thing"... My favorite Zevon Song, 2nd only to "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner".. Talkin' about the Man.. God Bless You, Warren Zevon.

  • Our problem getting Warren in the RRHOF is that scumbag Jan Wenner ! we need to start a blog on getting him to be removed from the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame !

  • And the scum bags at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame keep passing him up for rap bullshit and Slutana !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Warrensdeciple so true and I miss the dude. fuck the rock n roll whatever

  • @bathetcnow Me too, the Rock and Roll Hall of fame has fallen to a bunch of talentless rap worshiping jerk off's, the next thing they will be doing is inducting some other rap or non Rock and Roll act because some Asshole's on their Board have no clue what kind of talent he is and dont have a clue of what Rock and Roll is ! We need folk's like Bruce, Neil and Patti and many others like Warren to stand up to them to get him inducted. And even if he never gets in We know he belongs in.

  • Man, I miss Warren!!

  • He played all of the piano on Neil Youngs harvest album when he was a teen what a talent! See you on the otherside Warren... If there is a heaven!

  • @gwengoad I think you mean Nils Lofgren, right? But I could be wrong. Maybe Nils only played the piano for Neil on the "After the Gold Rush" album.

  • @Entertainer114 yep Nils was After the Gold Rush, and also some of Tonight's the Night...if the piano sounded ragged, it was Neil lol

The great Spooner Oldham was keyboards on Harvest

  • Thanks for the song. You can check out a write up on the music blog Nightly Song.

  • Excellent, as always.....

  • I love those tasty simple guitar solos. this song is smooth

  • "But the name of the game is be hit and hit back..."

  • A tribute to them all!!!! An Anthem!!

  • Great song and tribute to Boom Boom!!

    Rest in peace Warren.

  • Warrens staccatto guitar is great-what a killer tune.

  • Way heavy...

  • great fu*kin tune Warren Zevon lives on!!

  • Great!

  • R.I.P Warren, Alexis Arguello, and Duk Koo Kim

  • Never could say to much about you Warren !i

  • Why do they have to leave!!! Here a short time but here for ever in these songs . RIP Warren

  • R.I.P. Warren. I had to read about Boom Boom Mancini a few times before I discovered that this song was essentially Mancini's biography. The whole song is an accurate representation of Mancini's career, though the part about the death of Duk Koo Kim is not exactly what Boom Boom said at the time.

Hypocrite judgements after the fact is certainly true, though.

  • awesome song writer,awesome boxer

  • i aint in to comentin.....TY.. TY TY

..post more pls....prhaps detox mansion??...or not ty ty ty

  • A great song by one of the greatest artists who ever walked this Earth. RIP Warren.

  • absolutely

  • Or more accurately, a powerful voice without screaming

  • wow, songs that mean something and also rock, u don't see this much anymore

  • Had to come and listen to this song today after I heard of Alexis Arguello's suicide today. This was the first WZ album I ever bought, great stuff!!! Take me back to '87 when life was simple!!!

  • I thought the same thing. RIP Alexis.

  • I missed that news. Leaves one speechless.

  • i love warren zevon andIm form youngstown and met boom boom several times-woot

    BOOMBOOMWAREN

    NAMZEHTTHEZMAN

  • period

  • Dude belted out some of the greatest songs ever written man, Bob Dylan wishes he was Warren Zevon

  • when dude named his last album, 'genius,' it kind of pissed me off.

then, i revisited his songs. and i realized he was a genius.

an absolutely brilliant writer. yes, you are right. zevon was dylan's daddy.

  • His last ablum was the wind "genius" was after he died it was named by a record company. he was however a genius.

  • @0and18 I think Warren Zevon is/was a brilliant and unusual songwriter, musician and performer. It is not necessary to compare him to anyone. All Bob Dylan wishes is that he was young again. You should have been there in 1965 when I first heard Bringing it all back home.

  • @0and18 ah no.

  • @0and18

I have once used Bob Dylan and Van Morrison writing a half a poetry collection.

I have used John Lee Hooker writing a full novella.

I have been using Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix and others while writing stories.

I have used the seat of Paddy Kavanagh finishing a long fought for novelle in Phoenix Bar in Dundalk, Ireland.

I will use Warren Zevon when I finish the last 10 pages of the fucking book I have been fucking struggling with for two fucking years.

  • '... from youngstown, ohio...'!

    'like father like son...'

the late great zevon. we all miss him.

let us all petition to have him in the rnr hall of fame!

  • 'Hypocrite judgments after the fact,

But the name of the game is be hit and hit back'

  • We miss ya WZ. Everyone else, check out his son Jordan Zevon, Cool stuff. His latest record has a cover of a WZ song that was never released. Very Cool!

  • someone ask dave where this rates on his top ten list. the boys really ripped thru this one and dave threw down the pencil at the end about as stoked as I have ever seen him.

  • the 'grey visitation,' was wz's gift to dave. he gave dave that guitar

  • thank u bud man. is thier any posting of the entire wz appearence on the show that u know.?

  • warren gave dave the 'grey visitation' after his last apperance as a gift of friendship and thanking him for everything he did for him. dave was broken into pieces.

  • @oweigold very cool...what is it, a custom Fender Strat?

  • The best

  • You are deeply missed, Warren.

  • About as bad ass as it gets.

R.I.P.Warren and thanks for the music

  • Absolutely bad ass.

    Are you kiddin me?

Who belts shit out like this these days?

  • Is that Paul Shaffer on piano?

  • yes it is

  • Zevon was a great live show saw him ten + times he is one of the best

  • youre a stupid shit and i hope you get hit by a car.

  • That's badass.

  • HARR!

  • warren's songs have more of that bear down groove than anybody elses

  • This song is great. I knew Boom Boom and when he accidently killed that guy he went into a state of shock. I don't think that he ever boxed again. Sad but true. He had a great career ahead of him, but being a good Catholic kid, he couldn't go on any longer. ZEVON ROCKS!

  • He did box again.

He fogut Bobby Chacon for one of his last fights.

    Thats what this is about.

  • You obviously don't know Boom Boom. Everything in your statement is false except that he is Catholic... which has nothing to do with him quitting boxing.

  • You don't know shit about Boom Boom. He fought 6 more times after the Duk Koo Kim fight. He quit boxing because after 34 fights, he wanted to pursue acting. He ran into a guy called Livingstone Bramble that may have sped up his decision.

  • bramble rubbed his hair in rays face continuosly dreads hurt rays story is legend so sad about kim rip a truewarrior

  • And his hair was perfect ... LOL

  • There wasn't many people who did great music in the 80's. Zevon was the greatest and always will be.

  • classic Zevon!!

  • Boom Boom Mancini's fighting Bobby Chacon....! One of the great lines , Thanks Warren Zevon ..

  • damn good

  • this song is so fuckin catchy and I love his voice

  • I just plain loved the guys music, this is just a small example of his true talent. RIP

  • Is that Paul Shaffer putting a beat down on the ivories at 2:20? The band gives off a rockn Beach Boys vibe but they do rock. Good post of a good song!

  • ray mancini was the arturo gatti of his time, you see what happened to gatti when he stepped up against top guys,, de la hoya and mayweather same thing with mancini, exciting fighter but he is not in the same universe with duran when talking lightweights.warren zevon is an alltime great though, and a unique a musician as there has ever been. rest in peace my man.

  • Warren Zevon was right up there in that very small band of elite, modern day troubadors, along with Neil Young and Richard Thompson.

    God bless you Warren.

  • Warren smoked that fucking guitar. Cooler than the av-er-age piano player. Everybody talks about Niel Young as the "Father" of grunge. Warren was pretty fucking grungy whenever he wanted to be too. A true to the death artist who knew no boundaries. His son Jordan is supposed to be releasing an album. I have heard a few of his songs and they are good. I mean real good. Dad raised the bar pretty high though.

  • you got that soooooooo right

  • Neil played guitar for Warren on the title track for "Sentimental Hygiene". Can't imagine the song without his guitar. Warren and Neil are both great. Sentimental Hygiene was the lp that hooked me into Warren. "Detox Mansion" is my favorite song from it.

  • check out nils lofgren's no mercy! similar feeling, warren is the only zevon

  • I'm 20 years old and Warren Zevon is one of my favorite musicians...along with Tom Petty and Neil Young

  • Great Song!!!!!!

By the way Boom Boom Mancini was one of the best fighter ever. That's because he was Italian like me!!!!!!

  • Spare me, Mancini was very good, but I'd watch the video of the butt-smoking Alexis Arguello gave Boom Boom before I called him an all-time great. By the way, Sentimental Hygiene has to be one of the most under-rated sessions of all time!!

  • Mancini is an all-time great. He fought Arguello (which was at his peak) when he was only 20 years old with 18 professional fights. Don't talk about boxing with me my friend. You don't know what you're saying.

Arguello, Duran, Mancini, Chavez they are all all-time great in lighweight division

  • no way he is up there with chavez and duran. he was tough as nails though.

  • I'm 49 and I loved that excitable boy, and still do.

  • i'm 22 and i been a zevon fan since i was about 6 this was always one of my favs....he is such a great songwriter and i love him so much even if he was an egomaniac

  • 42 years old I am (so not quite 60). In all fairness, most of Warren's fans are probably no older than their mid 50's. :)

Awesome video of an awesome song....thanks for posting.

  • Well, chronologically in their mid-fifties, emotionally, well that's another story!

  • @jessebaremore

Nope, Warren Zevon is my fav and I'm in my 20's, so your not alone man!

  • just wondering, how old ARE yAll. im 15 and i just wish im not the last warren zevon fan under, like 60

best songwriter ever, my favorite singer

  • One of the greats, no doubt about it. Like his friend, Hunter S Thompson, Warren Zevon will be missed for a long, long while.

  • I respect David letterman, cause he reached and showed love to someone he admired and was a fan of, because of that , the man knew his music meant something before he was gone.....I never knew his music until his exs wife book....Dayum, shit I missed it!

  • great song!

  • i never knew this exsisted . i heard youngstown ohio how cool is that: home

  • Warren loved playing guitar more than the piano, great post

  • Sentimental Hygiene has to be one of the most under appreciated albums of all time. There were at least 5 tracks on that album that are classics; with Boom Boom Mancini leading the way. Who else could have written such a kick ass songf with such feeling and rockability. Thanks for posting this video...

Zevon was on Letterman quite a bit as I remember...

  • Yeah agreed mate considering the guests on it as well ,ie Neil Young,Bob Dylan guys from REM,David Lindley etc bought the vinyl when it came out years ago still luv it.

  • Letterman loved this guy.And you are right,SH album ROCKS!!!

  • Yes, I agree Sentimental Hygiene is one of the most underappreciated, and guess who was the backup band...REM (without Stipe) and they did such a good job that Zevon and REM did a blues covers album : "Hindu Love Gods", a brilliant post post modern blues album.

  • Hell Yes!!! Great song by one of the musical geniuses of our time.

  • Fuckin awesome.

  • yeah!! cool! a good singer! my mother always hear his music and me too

  • Great song of two REAL fighters,Ray Mancini and Bobby Chacon.I hear that Chacon is braindamaged and it's very sad but fightfans will always remember the both of you as good fighters and real men who always gave it your all.

  • I think Chacon's wife committed suicide as well tough life for some of these fighters.

  • YES. More zevon. WZ songs are still the best. Thank the gods for anyone who posts WZ

  • zevon owns

  • yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa

  • My sentiments exactly. <33

  • big fan?

  • this is one of my fav. zevon songs. its just great, the guitar is killer. zevon was the god damn man and its a shame songwriters like this guy got no recognition because he did his own thing and rocked at it.
