It is simply not possible for anybody who is not spiritual to cast out a spirit even a muslim using a Koran. By restraining the person you have only made the jinn smarter. If I were the jinn or spirit and some muslim person tried to cast me out, I will simply assume the identity of the person whose body I am in and tell the person who tried to cast me out calmly using not my voice ,that the jinn or the evil spirit had left. I have not read the book but am familiar with th concepts. There are a lot of "techniques" which are not magic but mental conditioning, so there is a difference.

However anytime you try to get or receive a benefit or power from something or someone other than Allah, God, the Al Mighty, then you have committed shirk in some form. Meaning getting something from other than God which should only be asked of God.

Entry into the human body is a side track from the real issue. Even tiny bacteria can enter the body. The point is that the shayateen amongst the djinn can wreak havoc in a person's life if certain things are combined (lack of cleanliness and prayer, haraam/negative behaviour and environment, etc, etc), therefore in order to combat their influence, one has to take necessary precautions for protection (wudhu, salah, wird, wazifah, etc )including helping others with the same.
