  • The phrase "used to" is in the past tense.

    However, if you use the phrase "used to" in a question with the word "did", then drop the "d" and use the phrase "use to" because "did" is in the past. Whenever you use "did" in a question, the verb is in the base (present tense) form. For example, Did you buy the dress? NOT, Did you bought the dress? So, we wouldn't ask....Did you used to....

    However, when you say "used to" or "use to", they sound the same anyway.
