  • music for the gays

  • 2:52 best part

  • I love the 12 string in this song. It's so lush and full. probably a Guild.

  • you did a great job blackerton

this is not THE music video made in 1975 though

the description 'music video' makes it seem like its the official one

would you please state that you made this

those who are looking for THE music video, the video to the side by atomearthman is it

  • this song is so f&%$ing intense

  • when I'm listening to welcome to the machine I simply lose myself in this music and travel, It's simply amazing how we can became a slave of money and don't notice that

  • Did anyone else notice the irony of a Mitt Romney ad underneath this song?

  • Google this: "HOW I SHORT-CIRCUITED PINK FLOYD'S MACHINE by FLYING CLOUD NINE"

  • What did you dream?

It's alright we told you what to dream.

  • This says it all...how sad...waking up to realise ten years have passed and all we can see is ruin.

  • This video has been chosen for January 16, 2012 post on Facebook Page: Random Daily Classic Rock Song

  • 5:10 better than sex

  • Someone know what that first missile is called?

  • It was stoopid!!!!

  • The most depressive song in the world? Well, Welcome to the Machine, folks...

  • 85 people dislike this song...

I don't think they understand the wisdom of pink floyd.

  • 85 pessoas gostam de funk

    85 people like funk

  • This is how I feel every Monday morning.

  • One of the greatest songs of all time

  • This song should be played into a new born baby's ears !

  • new age....new world....new enemy....new machine....

  • welcome my son..

  • Q3TopBuZz, Try Pink Floyd on a really fat bottom ended system with the highs lifted just a pinch. Pure musical goodness

  • @sdluam09 My best mate is an absolute Floyd nut.He simply cant understand my lack of interest in them.Maybe I'll take your advice and do just that.

  • I really try and like Floyd but I just dont get it.Must just be me.Be boring if we all liked the same stuff I suppose.

  • @Q3ToPBuZz .....Wait! Before you give up on the Floyd, YouTube this: "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict"

  • @RandomCriticsify haha! thanks for the heads up! I've got a couple of their albums and Ummagumma is one of them.

  • WE ARE NOT SHEEP!!!!!

  • i realy think he could care less about grammar. lol

  • This is better then trance music...

  • LOOK MUMMY...THERE"S AN AERO PLANE UP IN THE SKY.....

  • @SovereignTexan Goodbye Blue Sky. love it

  • Best band in the world. Thumbs up if you agree. And by the way I could careless if I get a top comment. Comment because Floyd is #1. Forget about me.

    Happy New year

  • @Celebrity729 You're supposed to say "I COULDN'T care less". Think about it. It makes much more sense like that. Comment because grammar is #1.

  • @DoctorMGinius I think they said they do not care.

  • @MrGrowsontrees Yup. That's why "I could not care less" should have been used. As in, he cares so little, he can't care any less.

  • @Celebrity729 They're not my ultimate favourite band, but I think they deserve that title. Their music is almost too good for this world. It's hard to believe that human life forms have made such music, especially Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. Whether you're a fan of rock or not (or even music in general), whether you like Beethoven or boyband bollocks, you absolutely HAVE to own a copy those two albums.

  • wub wub wub wub,wub wub wub wub,wub wub wub wub,

  • great vid!

  • this music gets me so high

  • this song reminds me how much i fucking hate techno and rap! I F****** LOVE METAL AND ROCK! REAL MUSIC!

  • @apoyamos We are chasing our forgotten tail, as in an Ouroboros...

  • @apoyamos Wisdom

  • The best Site to download pink floyd miusics

  • @apoyamos i totally took this comment and made it my facebook status =] lol

  • @apoyamos it's more like:

Syd's Birth/childhood (Shine On You Crazy Diamond part one)

Growing up (Welcome to the Machine)

    Show business/adulthood (Have a Cigar)

After leaving the band (Wish You Were Here)

Life goes on without Syd (Shine On You Crazy Diamond part two)

The exact meanings of the songs don't matter though, people make their own great interpretations from the music. That's why it's such a beautiful thing.

  • it's like roger waters had a crystal ball and saw exactly how we would end up in the 21s century.

  • Great video. Any chance you could re upload at 480?

  • Perfection.

  • Pink Floyd, about the only band that I can listen to all day long.

  • this song is awesome. keyboard <3

  • I got really into pink floyd when I was a little kid and my older sister (she would have been 20, I was like 10) showed me Ecco The Dolphin and played a pink floyd record and stated the similarities :)

  • Absolutely one of my most fav songs by them....machine...and back when pink floyd was beginning alot of people critizied their music ...the noises they add..the pyschological music...they thought it wouldnt seem right....sounds fuckin awsome to me...love these guys till the day i die \m/

  • @Godsholyhand666 dude fuckin metal!

  • before i watch this video, is it the official vid?

  • It's the progression from these old songs that really last. Music today rarely upholds that same level of progression in sound.

  • I hate my life :C how come I couldn't be born listening to good, real music, unlike music nowadays with theyre stupid editing and remixing and stuff

  • @jailenemjfan I know right! (No offense to those ppl out there who listen to today's music) Today's music is shit. First off, you can't understand what they're saying, the choreography blows, and I just don't get it!

But music like Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, it at least makes some sort of sense.

  • @Twime144 u jus said the two things that hold the universe together

  • @yungkidnf damn right i did

  • This song captures the disappointment of our world. You didn't like school, like everyone else. You thought you were nobody's fool, just like everyone else. What did you dream life would be like? We have removed your ability to dream, so have a dream imposed on you. Welcome to the machine of production and consumption. You are a tiny, insignificant nothing in The Great Machine. But you depend on it, even while you hate it. You are the machine, even as much as you and I would like to destroy it.

  • 0:01 to skip ad

  • Welcome my Son

  • 85 people are extreme DUMBASSES

  • I normally listen to rap, dubstep, and metal, and I normally dont like classic stuff like this. But pink floyd is fucking amazing. No question.

  • @tbix321 Im the same way bro, lol. I come from death metal, gore grind and shit.. xD Then come to this. Pink Floyd is phenomenal..

  • @tbix321 i never thought i'd get to see the words dubstep, rap and metal in a same sentence...

  • @fellerredseller why not, I have the same taste :D there's only two genres of music - good music and crap music

  • @tbix321 Same, except i listen to pop, techno and rock. long live Old Pink. I'll be sending a message to him at the funny farm.

  • @tbix321 You should feel bad for liking dubstep.

  • I'm sorry but I don't think the machine has anything to do with the mainstream. I think it has to do with growing up into an adult and seeing the world for yourself and participating in the seemingly non-intimacy of life. The machine is uncaring as a whole, the machine merely exists, but it is what everything must become. You can resent this fact, no one is stopping you or encouraging you to, just follow where it takes you, and someday maybe it will be more organic.

  • the day my son is born i want to play this just for him.

  • huh... the first time i see a non-uploader monopolise the two top comments [@SeraphimSword]

  • this song would be perfect if it were not for the dr. Seuss rhyme scheme.

  • i could listen to this all day:D

  • The Machine will exist as long as we need its support. One bright day, technological advances will make the Machine obsolete.

  • 5:05... wow!

  • are you fucking stupid @nintenkid91 ? of course they did acid and shrooms and the smoked bud dude you are a fucking retard how do you think they made all this psychodelic music? by doing psychodelic drugs dumbass

  • @MrCapofication Actually, a lot of their songs were written while sober. And please don't spread hate. It doesn't help anybody.

  • Anybody else who got sent here from AVGN :)

  • @kriilla sort of, i like this song before though

  • what the hell does the song mean will any one know?

  • @luissteger It's about the music industry. The entire song tells the story of a young man who spends his young life fighting for his belief in his own individuality so he drops out of school and runs away from home. His dream is to become a professional musician only to find the music industry is as rigid and controlling as his previous life. "The Machine" is an allegory to the music industry because once you are in it, you are forced to do whatever the record label tells you.

  • @Blitzberg86 The metaphor of The Machine can be viewed as a reflection of society. We are all subordinate to the machine, yet we create the machine. We are all controlled, whether we like it or not. Told what to do, what to wear, how to act, what to DREAM...We've been programmed to live a mechanical life; Work, Eat, Sleep, Work, Eat, Sleep... I hope one day we will destroy this facade we have created and leap forward as Mankind. One Love.

  • @luissteger

    Think about it.

  • Those Iraqistanies had it comin! GWBJr Stop the NWO

  • Richard was and is the Master of sound and the perfecter of Music,, God is Lucky to have him Lord over his Music Hall

  • psychedelic!

  • 84 people were not welcomed to the machine

  • this song is so haunting, but amazing

  • Δεν είναι δυνατόν να έχει αρνητική ψήφο αυτό το αριστούργημα

  • What is it that makes this band so original?

  • @SeraphimSword They just are so Original, They were making Songs over 40 years ago. Just they are that good! I have no clue what it is. They just are. Its nice to lissen when your stoned. Its good calm music, Its good to sleep to and just live like a normal human being.

  • @SeraphimSword In today's world were people take for granted sampling and digitized sounds, remind yourselves that this is from 1975. As for your question, if you really are interested in why Pink Floyd are an original band simply go read their entry in Wikipedia. It will explain it all in detail.

  • @SeraphimSword There was nobody like them before them.

  • @SeraphimSword roger waters, david gilmour, extreme talent ... take your pick

  • @SeraphimSword: Whenever you hear a song that you say "sounds like Pink Floyd"... you tend to realize what make them special and innovative... and they've been doing this since the mid-60's.

  • @Gluesponge I know right... Plus it makes you realize how many talentless copycats there are today.

  • @SeraphimSword realness

  • @SeraphimSword

Truth, I think. "Artists" today are more concerned with looking like a badass and mass market appeal than saying anything meaningful. And it's not because they have nothing to say, it's because they're scared of people seeing them for who, or what, they really are.

  • @SeraphimSword I think its the synth... (and all the weed they smoked while making there songs)

  • @sabor312

i think weed was the smaller part of what they smoked or consumed otherwise.. ;-) they rode a lot bycicles.. hehe

  • @sabor312 Yah yah Pink Floyd did great music because they were smoking weed (retard)

  • @sabor312 They hardly did drugs. Especially after what they saw happened to Syd from all of his drug use. People think they did all these drugs when they hardly did any. Except Syd, he was fucking crazy haha.

  • @SeraphimSword truth

  • @SeraphimSword They make good music. :P

  • "If you listen to this song, you might as well listen to the whole album"- Works with every Pink Floyd song

  • 84 people don't know what real music is.

  • Man has perfected death and yet to perfect life.

  • They have so many awesome songs !!!! What to listen to next ? Have a cigar !!!!

  • so is this talking about growing up or dying?

  • my dad flung all of my pink floyd, kate bush n simon n garfunkle albums away in a fit of stupidity,my 2 pink floyd 1994 concert tickets were in one of the floyd albums.still hurts to this day...but ya can't fling the memories.shabba n thank you Roger.

  • @TheBobski1972 wow that most be horrible for you! i've never visited a concert, hurts as well

  • @thefemaleunicorn you don't know what you're missing.just got back from watching the chili peppers last night at manchester.they've still got it.

  • @TheBobski1972 wow cool! to be honest i'm not adult so i'll save money for in the future! hope pink floyd is coming to europe

  • I think it supposed to simulate a voting booth, example would be every vote that is cast adds to the war machine simple enough, they government is responsible, and so is the populace, they just sit by as wars rage on doing noting about it. Honestly I don't know how I typed this out because I am super stoned. And the end, which I'm listening to right now, just further supports me. The leaders of all these countries laughing at the weaker people. Grab some weed sit back and enjot this great song.

  • @AllTheBouncingBalls Actually, it's much more likely that this song is about the music industry of the time. The 'machine' represents the record companies, they're attempting to control the musicians.

  • fuck mi mom

  • Welcome my son, welcome to the machine!

  • what album is this off

  • @OneQuest1 I think it's 'Wish you were here'.

  • @OneQuest1 Wish You Were Here

  • Gods greatest creation = Pink Floyd.

  • @Anubis737373 could you please save me 5 months, sir lol. it'd be much apreciated. i know it has something to do with war, right?

  • @HippieDude1414 I personally have interpreted it to be a metaphor for the time in your life when you're getting out of high school, having to go off and work at some mind numbing factory of office job. Clock in, clock out, day after day, the same thing Each day, wishing more than the previous that you would've tried to make something of a career for your life. But it's too late now, because you have bills, a family, too many things to do and not enough time. Something along that lines

  • @XIDoStuffX thankyou. i kinda wanna cry now lol.

  • I agree fuck the machine. Don't usually comment but fuck the machine. War is not justice. I can only hope that we do find justice here and abroad.

  • I think this video is good, but it doesn't completely capture the true essence of what Pink Floyd was trying to say, and may have even mislead some listeners...

I think the song is about the machine in all its forms. Not just the bombs they make, but who they are. The New World Order globalists. The bankers, politicians, the mainstream media, the video games, the 9-to-5 work hour, the taxes, the wars, the degradation of our culture and art. Everything. And it's all planned.

  • FUCK WHO THE FUCK DONT LIKE PINK FLOYD DAAAAAMNN!!!! 83 FUCKERS LIKES IN THE ASS WHILE LISTENING JUSTIN BIVERGAS

  • I love the whole song, it's so damn good. I really like the part where he sings 'welcome my son' at 3:57

  • 83 people aren't welcome to the machine
