In the end, momentum is mass times velocity. The pickup weighs between 150% and 200% what the Civic weighs That matters a lot more than the height that they strike each other at.
look at all these people like fords so much better...ramming an f150 into a civic is like ramming an elephant into a pixie stick....put a ridgeline in there at least before u talk shit lol
This is a big issue as it shows the truck is getting the impact direcly at tis front suspecntion and the engine, not the body to absorb the impact, and same goes for the civic as it rides under the fords imapct zone and smacks straight in tis hard parts, now if only car endgneers did acomedate the design to make the trucks adopt to impact with a lower car.
Shure the ford loosk unscaved but imagine the neck injuries you resive as it dosent propperly absorb the force.
all the idiots around here take engineering brilliance, the work of thousands of man hours- and ruin it with damn lift kits and bumpers that weigh 400 extra pounds.
@CadillacDeadman24 actually theres so much technology in cars today, the truck probably wouldn't start until Ford reset the ECU because it detected an airbag deployment
@CadillacDeadman24 but if you think about it, trucks they build rigid for towing and well.. crashes, sedan cars, reguardless of country, are built to crumple so it absorbs the impact rather than send all that shocking energy to the passengers, thats why most euro cars have ridges in the inner structure, so it crumples at that area to send all the energy under the people, and to the back
What happened to trucks with solid metal bumpers... everything is cheap plastic now... I want a truck with a solid ass front and rear bumper, you used to be able to get in a fender bender with no damage... now every little ding just rips right through the bumper.
@MadMarcusProductionz I'm saying. That's why my 2012 ram 1500 has a front bumper replacement(the diamond plate ones) and it's getting a diamond plate rear bumper replacement
@296jayce its just the fact that it seems like every compact car vs large vehicle crash tests always involve a civic and something that owns the shit out of it. But yea i agree they are good cars, handles well and good mpg.
@flight2k5 I said that the truck won, meaning that it looks like the truck took less damage than the civic. I didn't say anything about driving them or being totaled. dumbass...
@flight2k5 the truck beat the car because it is still salvageable... and it didnt crunch in as much as the civic(and yes i know its supposed to do that)

@ar15freak jesus what a homo faget, i bet u shop at fresh n easy too and paint your finger nails. i drive around in a 2000lb car with no airbags or bumper support and the only things im trully afraid of are pigs
@ar15freak I drive a 1994 GMC and I know it's a death trap, have you seen the crash test for your truck? It's appalling, big doesn't mean crash worthy. If you crash into a newer, smaller car, you (and I) would take the brunt of it because the smaller cars are stiffer and punch right through the big old trucks. I'm surprised you can even get 11 MPG, I get 14 and I have a V6 2wd with a 5-speed manual, the most efficient combination offered.
I hit a Civic like that with my old Ram 3500 van. (road was sheet ice and he was speeding in my lane~ I hit the brakes so hard that the rear brake cylinders blew out)
The van had a small dent in the front bumper.
The Civic was totaled. Hood crushed, engine started to roll under the body, airbags went off.. etc.
If everyone drives just trucks or just cars then road deaths will be lower. I would say ban the gas guzzling 4 wheel drive trucks - just save them for farmers who obviously need them. Europeans prove that they're not necessary or popular vehicles if you are ordinary people with ordinary lives.
@00kirbyd Europe has a much different climate that we do. Are you saying we should just all move south where no 4x4 is needed? What about the men who built the house you live in? Do you think that a nice little 2 wheel drive s10 can move the tools alone needed for that house your in?
@perpetualmotion192 Europe is horizontal to the US, we get similar climates north and south like you, true 4x4's are needed for cold conditions, but most of the time vans do the job fine. I dont mean to offend americans about how I disagree with the use of pick up trucks, they are a symbol of your culture, unless they make all the trucks lower and cars taller, crashes are still gonna be advantage truck, which is what I meant originally, but it probably wasn't clear enough.
@00kirbyd Hate to break it to you, but the northern part of the US (and conversely the southern part of Canada) receive much more yearly snowfall than most places in Europe. Even cities like Stockholm and Oslo get barely get half as much snow as cities like Boston, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago etc, and cities like Buffalo, Syracuse and Montreal receive 4 or even 5 times the amount of snow Stockholm sees every year. Many Americans still don't actually need a truck, but there is more of a reason.
@AchromaticRefractor Stockholm never gets lots of snow, but if you check out northen sweden we have 1.5-2.5m of snow and just yesterday we had almost -40 celsius and it will be colder!. We dont need any trucks or even 4wd, most of the cars are old diesel mercs or volvo 240, 740 or 940.
@Jimpank90 That's cold! Like I said, more Americans own trucks than actually need them, but when compared to Europe in totality, they are at least slightly more warranted. I think a big problem in the US is peoples' general aversion to using proper winter tires, relying on the all-weather variety instead.
@AchromaticRefractor my thoughts exactly, and there's a reason we have a law that sais that you need 4 winter tyres on your car during winter i sweden. And when you take your licence you have to experience slippery conditions just to be prepared for winter driving.
@rhauf1 And increases our safety. Really, people that have trucks usually never use them as a truck.. so might as well get a crossover or small SUV. Think of it this way.. if the government didn't have the FDA we'd never be able to tell if the drugs we use are safe.
Tonkas should be banned for being "raised", as they are a hazard to most other vehicles driven by people. Their bumpers no longer are close to the bumper heights of what they were designed with. They are just WMD's to other drivers. Ever notice how those rednecks love to tailgate u and try to intimidate you with their headlights totally filling your mirrors even though u r going over the speed limit. Cops don't care in the US because they usually drive trucks as their personal cars as well.
After this, the F150 faced of with a Freightliner.....guess what that story proved? It proved that your family should be trucking around in a Freightliner to soccer practice.
F150 weighs 5,000lbs, a Civic 3000 lbs.....an unloaded Freightliner about 20,000 lbs.......i suspect that
in the unlikely event you survive crashing head on into a Freightliner driving an F150 you will be draining your bladder into a plastic bag and eating Cap"n Crunch each morning processed through a blender. Its not the mass of your vehicle but the weight that matters...2,000lbs advantage is not going to keep you alive when going face to face hence why I dont understand this video.
People the video is trying to show how much safer a shorter vehicle can be in case of an accident with a higher vehicle.
