  • I would SO buy from you , Dave .

    - From another Dave .

  • What about waterproofing this design?

  • @mantaz111 That's not quite as easy.

  • Dave; do you have any advice for calculating the required CLC filter network between a micro and an SMD antenna? I'm running at 2.4GHz and I've found the correct trace width to yield a 50 ohm transmission line.

  • Is the watch FCC approved? xD

  • I'm an electronics guy and the mechanical world is a bit here and there for me. However a while back I downloaded a copy of Autocad 2010 and I was amazed how intuitive it was to use! Everything is laid out well and hovering over different buttons and options brings up a tutorial on how to use it. I also have a small cnc machine (Clone I made of a Lumenlab MicRo-CNC) their kit is cheap now. And I use it to make all sorts of stuff for my electronics projects. Machined aluminium block cavity cases!

  • is the pcb custom made at home? or did you have someone do that, and how much did it cost? :)

  • piece of cake ... LOL i dont think so!

  • I added "The Art of Electronics" to my Amazon wish list!

Loved watching this video, you seem to have a real passion for what you do :-D Do you teach? You should do.

LOVE that watch, it's truly amazing! Will you be producing any more kits? I seriously want one!

BTW I'm with you on the no-case-equals-more-geekiness! A lot of my projects have no cases, choosing instead to build up a the project in physical layers so you can see all the parts inside :-D

  • How about the processing side? Did you write your own code?

  • Yes, the first release of code was all mine. But then I released it as open source and others have taken over. It now even plays chess!

  • Excellent stuff. I stumbled on your vblogs by accident. Very ingenious format. I think many are put off from doing electronics vlogs as its easy to get bogged down in high theory and end up with a full blown lecture. I have programmed PICs (in ASM, I know...) and I would love to see one playing chess! Recently I have been trying to resurrect a TI Galaxy 67 calculator; I need to invent a way to reconnect the LCDs 96 conductive glass tracks to the PCB. The missing film is not off-the-shelf...

  • *The missing film is called a heat seal connector (HSC). A temperature of 120C with a pressure of >=20kg/cm^2 is required to attach the film ...yet the thing peels off eventually at room temperature!

  • @EEVblog

    where's the code then? bye!

  • @MalaTemporaCurrunt On the uWatch web site.

  • I love PCB-as-control-panel. That's a nice hack.

Can you reccomend a place for an Aussie (Melb) to get affordable short runs of PCBs?

  • hey dude, You've got a good thing going on. I hope you keep it up, and hopefully some gear manufacturers get onboard and send some gear to review. You've got to love pulling things apart as soon as you get them.

I'm enjoying your series, and look forward to the next installment

  • Goodwork I am very impressed with your methedology and your long 2 part series on explianing how you past the hurdels. Keep up the good video's I've noticed thier getting a lot more intresting and better editing 2.
