  • Fantastic song from a great era. Saw Kids in the Kitchen at the Melbourne Show Grounds with Bryan Adams when the Police did their last official concert. What a memory!

  • Awesome 80's bands, one of Australia's best in this era, though they didn't produce albums, their songs did well in the charts...l have all their albums, rare to get..

  • I loved this band in the 80's. I heard this song again last Saturday night at a party and still sounds as fresh as it did 30 years ago.

  • Yes this song came up a lot when I used to station surf on my double cassette deck ghetto blaster at night when I could pick station after stations hundreds of kilometres away fading in and out going from one brilliant song to the next. Sublime.

  • 80's rule, another briliant song hardly heard these days. Thanks NZOZ.

  • I love this piece of art, it is a shame we have to let some filty bunch of twisted crims lead us away from this in order to exploit human kind with sex and toilet based simulacra to evolve in a world full of disposable music.

    This was, missed still is.

Celebrity Industry FUCK OFF back to what ever syphilis strain your created by.

Let REAL MUSOS have some credit and give them the space they rightfully own.

OOh that feels better but now it feels crazy.........OK better now!

  • Very young when this great song was released, one of the best songs ever! Go the 80's! Great Australian band!

  • love this song..love the speed of the music..brings back so many memmories..

  • I just want to return to the simple life of the 80s. I have had enough of this world of excruciating pressure, high task management, technological nonsense and social decay. I just want to live like I did when I was a child in the 80s. Having fun, walking, going to the beach, going bushwalking, having vegemite on toast, watching degrassi junior high, secret valley and playing with transformers and He-Man.

  • @Stealthkeys77

Your comment nearly made me cry and I absolutely agree with you and I WISH it was the 80s every single day and I HATE it NOW :-(

  • goose bump stuff i love my music era

now my eyes r open wide

  • 80s were the best. most of the modern music should be flushed down the toilet

  • @taipan185 I was born 1971 in Melbourne. I totally agree with you. The 80's were awesome. I loved this song.

  • a gem from when i was younger..as good as any European song at the time

  • can you find my hidden comments?

    tip:........press see all.

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • ross horne's books have been taken out of the australian libraries and off the bookshop shelves.

  • in honour of all the poor bile bears and the abuse and suffering inflicted upon them by the barbaric chinese and vietnamese governments. and they wont stop it.

and the whales that are going to be hunted down by the japanese whalers this year. the japanese have killed all their whales.....now they go around the world and hunt down other countrys' whales. they are always raping other countrys' seas to fill their TOJO guts.

to the chinese, vietnamese and jap governments

    F U C K YOU!!!

  • Oh God we were so lucky to have this music as kids especially growing up in Australia - what a brilliant time. And who will the poor schmucks who are growing up today have to look back on and feel all nostalgic about when they're in their 30s/40s? Gaga...score!

  • How good was Aussie music in the 80's, I loved it then and still love it now, cheers:)

  • Top song, top band top leading man and still possess's a great voice.

  • Oh, I LOVED this band! Thanks for posting the video! They got too little airplay in the US--such a shame. And far as I know only one album (titled "Kids in the Kitchen") got a US release, and that was hard to find. I remember how excited and happy I was walking out of the shop with that album.

  • @flyingcasablancasons good to hear from an original US fan... it's amazing how fickle the music market is...

  • This is sadly one song that for some reason is easily forgotten and shoudn't be. It's one of the best songs of the 80's by an aussie group. It's actually timeless. Sounds just as good now as it did back then.

  • im 44 and to hear this just brings back memorys to my brain unlike the stuff today nothing will be better than the sweet tunes of the 80,s fantastic tune :)

  • @TheAussieSlayer Totally agree with ya mate.

  • almost forgot about this gem! great song....would that it were this innocent again

  • he is in his 40's and he is the uncle of my god daughter he is a lovely man to this day my name is William and i am 20!!

  • What a Great Song.......

  • Im only one whot thinks that singer has greatly resembles sylvester stallone? :D Awesome song by the way!

  • Just 14 years old, when this song hit the charts.

    Time go by so fast.

  • Where was this clip filmed? I know they were Melbournites, but I don't recognise any of the locations.

  • @tashearlgrey The bit at the pool is the Melbourne City Baths from memory.

  • I'm having a 80s flashback evening thanks so much for this clip -great memories :)

  • memories....love it !!!!!

  • I knew the guitarist, Greg Dorman. he jammed with my band one night, before he was in Kids in the Kitchen. back then he had heaps of talent, but a huge ego to match.

  • Ive always thought the girl in this was top notch fitty mcvittie ....... i wonder what she looks like now .... probably all middle aged and dumpy! LOL.

  • Kids in the Kitchen are still around doing mainly clubs with Boom Crash Opera, Uncanny X-men and Wa Wa Nee, well worth going to see, it's agreat reminder of great times for Aussie music. Ah the early 80's.

  • I remember this piece being used on a network promo for GWN (Golden West Network) over here in W.A. around '85 lol

  • great early 80s tune reminds me of the group ''sparks''

  • Now I know where The Edge stole his music from...

  • Not a bad tune.... Im an 80's child graduating from HS in '86. I'd never heard of this band until today. 4/13/11 I listened to an Interview with Brian Canham of Pseudo Echo and he mentioned them so I googled them and here I am.

  • i can't believe that this song doesn't that many viewers..I just found out about this good song. ThanK you nzoz1983 for posting this...

  • @GaleasAg1 no worries... i used to ask the same question about the majority of Aussie material from this period.

  • @nzoz1983 me too..... Nothing today that comes even close.

  • This is a truly great song, its a shame its not better known.

  • I dont care if people believe me or not, my dad is Greg Woodhead (keyboards). i hate him now, he fucked up my life, (i wasnt alive when this was made)

  • @driftboy916 thats either Jake or Jesse and whoever it is its right, Greg is their dad and Greg is my uncle and jesse and jake are my cousins

  • I loved this b4 i knew even wot love was and i loved the sound b4 i knew wot my eyse were

  • @kourosh825 no you knew what this was before you had cock, you mean.

  • I loved this b4 i knew even wot love was

  • I loved this song so much

I was 18 and in last year of high school in Sydney in 1983

    just the best

  • awsome...awsome...awsome... Thank you, I have the album and this song is my fave....and I love the change in beat through-out this song

  • this is such a brilliant song.. it's a great tune but for me the lyrics are the highlight.

  • zomg! the memories ^^ good times the 80's xD Thanks for uploading!!! :)

  • Scary to think that the sweet baby faced kids in this video would all be in their 40's now. I miss being a kid in the 80's, what a great time to be growing up. It was such a ridiculous decade but I wouldn't change one single thing about it.

  • @taipan185

I miss the 80's and being a teenager! the old saying 'youth is wasted on the young' is so true..

  • @taipan185 Totally agree, loved growing up in the 80's!!!! Still my favourite music.

  • @taipan185 Totally agree, loved growing up in the 80's!!!! Still my favourite music.

Brian Mannix is 50 this year!!!!!!

  • Love it, love , love it! Bring back the 80s!

  • fucken oath this was so hot

  • Looks like the Melbourne Shot Tower (Melbourne Central) in this clip

  • Can someone do a tab of this btw

  • I love this song, but it looks like his neck is gonna explode haha

  • This song for me is pure cool. I clearly remembering hooting along in my Datsun 1600, slightly modified however, and fairly gunning that car when these guys hammer!!!

Now my eyes are opened wide!! :)

  • one of the bestest aussie songs ever!!!!

  • Some classic footage of the Melbourne Shot Tower here(now the focal point of Melbourne Central)

  • Man what a frigging kick ass year 1983 was, the amount of top notch music that came out that year is pretty mind boggling. It was an awesome sound track for my first year in high school thats for sure.

  • The girl is fucking hot

  • Love this song, I was only 12 when it was released. I loved their song "Current Stand".

  • This is just to emotional song, my character will burst into ectoplasm!

  • o wow !!! the memories of australian childhood...what an era we had !!!!

    turn it up !!!

  • "Kids in the kitchen 2010 - instead of talking, they would be text-ing each other; even though they are actually sitting next to one another ! Sad!

  • God, do I miss the days when everyone wasn't pretending to be gangster or an emo. This was when you could be 'edgy' but completely normal at the same time...and lead singers we permitted to actually sing. Gives me greater appreciation for the handful of newer acts paying homage to this great music.

  • @p717 I know I'm getting on now as I say the same thing about how drum and bass used to be 'pure' back in the day and all music is shit now :D. Same with any music tho I guess it gets rinsed then most ppl move onto something else.

  • Love this song. Also pure 80s. Great clip too.

  • Kids in the Kitchen 2010 version: Prakesh, Sunil, Yong, Chang and Vinod.

  • wow, I really love this, both the video and the song.

BTW, there is amazing music coming out these days.

check out Marsheaux, Freezepop, and Muchuu.

iamamiwhoami, the list goes on and on ^_^

I love new romantics and new wave as well as the new music coming out.

  • @LLLeeeeeeeee hey , i checked out freezepop , marsheaux and muchuu . They're good . If you have any more suggested listening material , lemme know . Thanx

  • @salemthemerciless Oh I'm so glad you liked them ^_^

Some other amazing artists that have really phenomenal albums this year are The Golden Filter, Pacific-Narcissus, Anoraak, Cut Copy.

Hmmm what else, Penguin Prison, Blackbird Blackbird, Aeroplane and Parralox.

    =]

    have a lovely week

    <3

  • @LLLeeeeeeeee hey you , i particularly liked Golden Filter, Pacific, Penguin Prison ( these names eh) , Blackbird & Aeroplane's "SuperStar" . Thanks for your suggestions and feel free to send me any more that you might have . These days i'm listening to a lotta 70's stuff and i only just checked out those groups above. Thanx again .

  • @salemthemerciless That's awesome, what are some of your favourites from the 70s? I really like Jean Michael Jarre, but I'm not very familiar with that time period. Hmmm, some other wonderful artists are Cloetta Paris, Friday Bridge, Yelle(of course) and Swimming With Dolphins~ <3 Bitte Baby

  • every time I come scouting for a fix of back when, I light on this song. Looove it! syncopated and slidey music to go with those slidey syncopated moves. cheers to the legendary Lil from Bom-bloody-bala who introduced me to the glory of scott carne!

  • this song brings back memories of miss spent youth ,lol

  • Looks as if the band had a gay time making this clip.

  • Good selection nzoz, do you have any videos by Models? "I Hear Motion", perhaps?

  • @nothugsinourhouse

There's no need to be rude! You don't even know me nor I do you! But since you have taken the initiative to insult me, I believe one "shite" turn deserves another. You, sir, are the smegma stuck between your mother's balls.

  • @nothugsinourhouse

I do not even know you and I did you no wrong before you insulted me for no reason! So, what is your problem, gobshite?!!!

  • @nothugsinourhouse

There's no need to be rude! I didn't do anything to you and you don't even know me nor I do you! But since you have taken the initiative to insult me, I believe one "shite" turn deserves another. You, sir, are the smegma stuck between your mother's balls.

  • G'day NZOZ1983, do you know the name of the girl in the video???

  • @ozphil not a clue... i could ask chris lofven, the video maker....

  • @nzoz1983 Oh I was just curious, .... you certainly know your stuff, it amazes me your network of contacts and the diverse music you upload for us all. Mate all the best

  • @ozphil I reckon that chick is pretty hot too. But she's proabably 50 by now and weight 94 kilos :(

  • Comment removed

  • @flando70 Silly I know, but do you know what she did after this, I was totally infatuated with her in 1983 and had never seen or heard of her, nor since then for that matter. Thankyou for your reply.

  • @ozphil not the actress - the wife of jamie dunn, radio brisbane. She was in Saturday jukebox as a dancer for visual image I think.

  • @flando70 Thankyou. All the best from the USA. Seem I have missed a lot from home in the last 22 years.

  • @flando70 I just looked up Kym Wilson, I dont think its the same girl, the Kym Wilson, Australian actress, if that is the girl your refering to, was only ten years old ain 1983. Again thankyou for your response, if there is another Kym, then she is still the mystery girl I was trying to find back then.

  • U2 spliced with Duran Duran.

  • @hotdogitty i don't think he'd agree... lol

Poor guy, I'm sure he's a nice bloke and had a lot of fun in the 80's, but really... if it can work for Chris Bailey, I'm sure it'd work for Scotty boy... *diet*

  • This song will definately be getting a start a my 40th Birthdat party next year. BTW my birthday today. Horray for ME.

  • @boydys11 thank you

  • Classic Australian music from the '80's. One day archaelogists will dig this stuff up and agree that Australian music from the '80's was indeed excellent.

  • what was sad about these guys was they went quicker than they came,i wasnt' one who like to dance at discos' but on hearing this song, i would get a girl up and do my own thing, and this song would later lead to bigger and better things later......i think you all know what i mean......................

  • Scott Carne... what a mover!

  • Ultravox meets Simple Minds......I remember this being a big hit at the time. Good looking guys with a good sound....they could've done more.

  • what a fucking good song!!!!!!!!!

  • its just a good song

  • was dry ice ever uncool???? bring back dry ice!

  • good ol one hit wonders! lol.

  • YAY Scott Carne!

  • this from a era , one of so many unreal songs from the 80s' to dance to,unlike most of the crapp they are listening to today, please some one come with a time machine, rewind on the video machine is just not the same.

  • fuck facebook in the face

  • Fuck you

  • fuck yr mum

  • Songs like this and other songs from great Aussie bands like Real Lifes' Catch me I'm Falling take me right back to when I was a kid - great memories, thanks for posting

  • Can anybody tell me if there is a kids song "Revolution Love" on you tube? Its my favourite song by them but i cant find it, thanks.

  • mmm now that I remember this sound just like midge ure lead singer of ultravox....gosh....its the same voice!, but dont worry..im not saying that kitk are bad...its the opposite its such a good band!

  • Temper Trap's Sweet Disposition has 4 million hit's, the guitar work sounds just like KITK

  • well if you put it in that way...of course you are right, there are many bands with the same sound, but there is no denial that u2 knew how to establish their sound in a special way, anyway this KITK is a great band.

  • *sigh*

KITK are okay... they had their moments.

  • @alanwildergore

U2 started off as a cover band in High school but they themselves admit couldnt paly very well thats how their sound came about.

  • Joy Division said the same thing... except they weren't at school.

  • u2 ripped this song off???? hahaha...you dont know a thing about music do you?.....u2 is an irish band from year 78, so its impossible they ripped guitar riffs from this band!, get yourself more info....you are lack of it!

  • And if you knew a little more about music, you would notice that many New Wave groups opted for the sound that U2 made famous and conseqently, take credit for. Siouxsie & The Banshees, Wah!, Magazine and many others dubbled with the sound that U2 did. No, U2 did not copy KITK, but they weren't the only ones standing with that sort of sound.

  • U2 "formed" before this song yes - BUT the first time their guitarist ever played guitar sounding like this was on Joshua Tree in 1987!!!! On every U2 album PRE-1987, The edge's guitar sounded n-o-t-h-i-n-g like this!

Now as a renowned douche once said: "get yourself more info....you are lack of it!"

  • fabulous music from a time far far better than now.

  • Is it just me or is this song better than Aha's "take on me" ?? I certainly think it is. The melody, the beat .... the whole "aura" of this song is absolutely AMAZING. TOP SONG .... unbelievable that this was made in Melbourne. Its the most innovative, most beautiful and interesting 80s song I have ever heard.

  • 80s are slipping away from us:(

Im only 20 and have a spot for 80s music.

    nice song:)

  • well this is the best song in history!!! Have loved the band for 20 or more freaken years..

  • is that bono singing????

    OMG....this is just like u2!

good song anyway....but the influences is right away...even the guitar sound....

  • Scott was having a lash when Bono's mullettt was still a small fish

  • U2 ripped this song off - Edge is a thief.

  • as much as I would like to think this was true, we do have to remember that U2 predate KITK.

  • I see.... And have "we" ever actually listened to classic U2, or are "we" completely uninformed & spurting shit out of our arse? The first time "The Edge" ever played guitar like this was on Joshua Tree in 1987!! On every U2 album pre-1987, edge's guitar sounded n-o-t-h-i-n-g like this!

  • I cried last night to realize that it was the end of the "naughties" and that classic hits like this were made three (3) decades ago. SO SO SAD.

Life is slipping away. So sad.

  • @phileustace SO right. Means we are getting old!! I know exactly how you feel. Makes you want to go back in time and do it all over again.

  • @phileustace Take yourself out to Retro night club ASAP and enjoy the 70's and 80's classics. They still live on. Youy just have to find them.

  • @phileustace I hear you, me too. Here are some words to live by: Carpe diem. Dont get to the other end regretting not doing something. Best of luck and kind regards.

  • @phileustace

Life isn't slipping away, if you own a car get a loud stereo and let everyone hear all these great 80's hits, tell people about these songs, you never know you might get someone interested in 80's music, don't feel sad, let this music live on through people like you and me and all the other fans, it's what I do everyday!

  • The drummer was a year ahead of me at school - remember him doing a mono on his bike all the way down Glen Eira road.

  • Just died a little!

  • wanker
