no, he was in first when the shell got close enough to him to lock on. I've had many times where the first place person wasn't hit because they were no longer in first.
Is it just me, or were you moving exceptionally fast, even without the mushrooms? I mean, it was like ZOOM! And you would keep up a very high speed. Man, I gotta try that now.

This game was a lot of fun, but some courses were too easy. Some places I could wait 20 seconds and still get first easily.

it might be because he's playing on Mirror. Makes you go faster, although I think it's about the same speed as 150cc.
