awesome tutorial! doing this mod isn't that hard but your'e tips are really usefull, i used dvd cases to make caps and glued them down with really good glue, the dvd case plastic is rather thin but it worked out really good, i just stacked 2 sheets if i needed the cap to be higher :)
.....really? you took the SMOOTH part, sanded it so it would stick to your modded pieces, but then the other side had texture and you cant place your stickers because of the texture when you could have just glued the modded pieces to the textured side to begin with...
i use it just because where i live super glue is like 2 bucks and epoxy is like 7 and i havent had problems with super glue. i do use apoxie occasionally but i find it to messy and the fumes get to me
@LanceTheBlueKnight ok thanks, sadly my family and me are snowed in lol so no more supply buying for me for a few hours or weeks. (*I HATE POSTTPONING THINGSS!*)
I build advanced custom puzzles and modifications. One good alternative is epoxy putty, you can buy it a home depot. Polyurethane resin works as well, but is more expensive.
i think you should a member or friend or partner or whatever where you can make videos that are longer that 10 min. i feel bad for you cuz you did this amazing video now you have to divide it up into 10 min segments....
As someone who has published nearly a hundred videos, I hope you are not implying that I don't know how the internet works. Four out of five people don't know how to string words together into coherent sentences... but as for the rest I wish I could hear more constructive comments than "Nice poster in that reflection! I watched your whole 10 minute video, and that's the thing that was most interesting to me."
That doesn't help me make better videos. That makes me feel like I'm wasting my time.
If you use liquid polystyrene cement to glue them, it welds them together. No sanding needed, and the bond is stronger than superglue. Downside? it takes 30mins to set and 8hrs to fully cure. I'd just leave it to set overnight.
hey lance, have you thaught about ordering thininer abs online? i think i am going to, capping pieces like this is going to save my ass in the long run :D
very nice method, however I think that I would rather cut my piece down a little more and then let the cap add the extra height instead of sanding it to make it flush, since this creates a barrel that isn't exactly proportional to what it was supposed to be.
Epoxy putty is like this nasty clay stuff that you mix together, and it smells HORRIBLE. Most people use this clay to fill in the hole, and then it dries and they sand it flat. It's a gigantic pain. Capping, in my limited experience, it way, way, way, way better. Makes the puzzle look better in the end too.
using milliput is way easier and easier to sand

For the plastic to use for capping, can i use like a black DVD case but then I'd cut off the unecessery plastic? Great idea btw..

what about gorilla glue
michael123425 1 year ago
so could you use regular glue from a bottle? Plz answer.
Bubfreak1 1 year ago
No, no! Absolutely not! White glue is wood glue, it only works if it can soak into what you're gluing. This won't work for plastic.

could we just place some liquid resin inside the pieces on the flat plastic so it will dry as a seamless part of the puzzle?

I didn't count lol but it was a bit
Spitsonpuppies 2 years ago
5 "Flush" and 1 "Flusher".
Anyway what if I do this for a heexagonal dipyramid?
because if I sand the "edges" part down then the middle part of the cap willl be sticking out.
