  • hell yeah nice f***ing song

  • darkest piece of music ever made. period

  • It's kinda of 7/8 on the 12/8... They had to be fuking drunk

  • Meshuggahcore

  • Animals as Leaders is a good instrumental option to Meshuggah.

  • @intestinomedicino Instrumental Meshuggah is a good option to Meshuggah.

  • @intestinomedicino Sorry... I don't hear it. When 'djent' stops having retarded babies with metalcore and pop music, I'll pay attention.

  • @FormerlyMrBean667 listen to Uneven Structure - Februus

  • @Thatmusictool Yeah Uneven Structure are quite good, but it sounds too 'false-ambient' for my liking.

  • @FormerlyMrBean667 But how is it false ambient?

It sounds pretty damn good compared to 90% of metal bands who try to implement atmosphere in their music.

Rosetta's "Galilean Satellites" first and second cds played together is probably the only example I can think of off the top of my head that has more impressive atmosphere in metal.

  • @Thatmusictool Sorry, that came out wrong. I adore Uneven Structure because they are not exclusively 'djent'. There are a lot of bands out there who try and specialise in both atmosphere and heavy breakdowns, in the end they just sound like 90% of all the others. Uneven Structure is a great example of a successful mix of prog, atmosphere and the heavier side of bands like Meshuggah.

I guess my original point was that only Meshuggah are insanely heavy, in a league of their own.

  • @FormerlyMrBean667 I agree completely, meshuggah have no peers, even if you can classify them around other metal movements of the 90's they really ran with their own ideas, there were no bands before them that focus their entire sound on rhythm and percussion in all aspects.

They were so ahead of their time they didn't get noticed by the masses for nearly two decades.

  • i am new to meshuggah but I think it's just some odd measures of 4's, or quarters. just like Rush

  • Mother of polyrhytmics

  • @ReyCarmesi97 Actually not polorythmic mostly... polymetric tho! :)

  • Thrash Trash

  • That album cover describes Meshuggah because when u listen To meshuggah ur mind goes in a trap and gets raped while leaving u unable to think

  • If i'm playing this without counting - just as I hear, I can play it.

    if i'm counting-I've lost.

  • I hypothesize that babies exposed to Meshuggah will do more to increase their brain power than Mozart.

  • It's more accurately 12:8. Meaning, 4:4 but with triplet eighths. Not that knowing this helps...this has got to be the most difficult Meshuggah song to figure out the rhythm to.

  • Today, my brother threw a broken drumstick at my face today shouting "IT CAN'T FUCKING BE IN 4/4. ITS FUCKING MY MIND". For any other reason I would of punched him back, but I understood completely.

  • @SASPython you're a fucking pussy for letting your own brother throw a drumstick at your face.

  • @lorrineg do i smell a wannabe tough guy tryhard metalhead pole up his ass attitude cuntface? I think so!

  • @SASPython yeah this song is a complete and utter mindfuck. it most definitely is in 4;4 but i would have never been able to tell if it wasn't for your comment lol

  • @SASPython almost all of their stuff is in 4's its just the fact that they have a deep sense of rhythm that makes it interesting. Complex time signatures mean jack shit if the melody, harmony, and overall structure of whatever your playing sounds bad

  • @porchmonkey401k yeah i agree, i think there is one song i have heard ( i think its on this album) which has like 7/8 int it, and i know its 7/8 (or atleast not 4/4) because of the grouping they use, unless they used really long phrases, which i doubt.

  • @SASPython well that falls under the category of polyrhythms, which is at the heart of the meshuggah sounds. Also syncopation should be taken into account. as it may or may not affect your perception of what youre listening to, just trust your ear and count it out a few times, its a lot easier than people allow it to be for themselves

  • @porchmonkey401k yeah once you kind of grasp what Meshuggah is about you kinda get it, except i didn't mention that my brother is 10 years old, so he doesn't completely understand the logic behind meshuggah. In good time though...

  • @SASPython just make sure he dosent get into bad habits lol like not understanding why this is in 4's

  • @porchmonkey401k haha trust me man i won't let that happen

  • @porchmonkey401k Not so much polyrhythm, but polymeter.

  • @dujl how do you figure?

  • @porchmonkey401k Well, it's just there. Polymeter is when two separate rhythms are playing on top of eachother, while a polyrhythm is where you have two rhythms that are directly derivative of eachother, together. It would take more repeitions for a polymeter to add upp evenly.

  • @dujl i disagree entirely, there is one meter and multiple syncopated rhythms

  • @SASPython

i think you speak about neurotica or elastic - both of them I think in 4/4, but fuck me i do not know anymore

  • @SASPython

Im counting to 4, its not that bad just dont get caught up in the syncopation

  • @Eradicateify lol i dont have a problem with it just tell that to my bro xD

  • @SASPython Your comment reminds me of a FML post

  • @SASPython It makes more sense in 6/8

  • If you guys like this stuff you should listen to Meshug-- oh wait a second...

  • This is gonna sound really gay describing a metal song like this, but this song has some crazy lyrical flow. Anyone who can write and perfrom lyrics that perfectly fit these complex polyrythms is a god damn magician. Love this band.

  • I don't listen to metal at all, closest thing to metal I listen is On The Virg (metal-jazz combination) BUT I LOVE MESHUGGAH! ....It's a disease! :P

  • hmm never heard of, maybe i'll check 'em out ^^

well i love metal, but i get you only liking meshuggah.. i consider them the worlds most talented and skilled musicians, even though they're not my fav band ^^

  • damn, their albums should come with spare underpants

  • @snakespence For the record.. it's debt haha.
