I'm not knocking barefoot at all. I am just pointing out some risks that people should be aware of. The comparison of hands to feet is like comparing apples to oranges. People are VERY aware of keeping their hands clear of bacteria by washing them regularly. If such a thing was practical for the feet (i.e. washing your feet after every couple blocks) that would decrease the risk of infection--though not a realistic option. At the end of the day--people should do as they please.

@bluegama500 mostly good for your feet, knees, minor muscles in the legs not normally used when waring shoes, and for your spine. The spine dictates posture, and has all of those nerve endings and when one part of the body is worn down the other parts must compensate for it, and so they are stressed. As the spine connects to everything it's good to sustain it through posture i.e. walking/running as close to barefoot as possible.
