When using the Saphire ATI Radeon 5770 this jacked up my card (no signal came from the computer) after coming out of being idle. Thought my card was defective, but I uninstalled EPU and everything is running perfect again. Sounds like I'm not the only one, similar things are happening to other people. Asus needs to polish this up, it's a good idea, but it has some issues.

You guys are all misinformed. Over fifty percent of all green house gas emission come from livestock. Livestock emit methane which is much stronger than Co2. So if you really want to cut back on your carbon footprint ride a bike, and don't use animal products.

i think my asus p5q epu works better than my old asus motherboards since this motherboard is more cooler and quiter, i mean less heat, less energy consumption... whatever the benchmark says, i prefer asus motherboard than other brands

the only way Atx motherboard are gonna survive at that power consumption around chipsets these days is if the chipset power itself is cut down to 5 watts and they integrate a ultra high performance 25 watt mobility radeon graphics chip on to the motherboard to make the higher consumption worth the while. This way you could have green gamer high performance integrated graphics on atx/micro atx. 40 watts just for running a chipset without any powerful integrated graphics is not worth it.

Actually some have said chipsets can run fine on 2 watts so the 40 watt Asus chipset motherboards branded with an energy efficiency epu tag is misleading advertisement to say the least.

Asus had pretty good boards back in the day but as far as energy efficency is concerned its lotza hype. Asus does not publicly release chipset power consumption on their website wich means they have something to hide, if a chipset is siphoning 40 watts (which is often the case) the motherboard itself is in no way energy efficient. If Epu saves 10 watts on cpu, but drains 40 watts with the chipset its useless. An energy efficient motherboard standard is no more than 15 watts for a chipset.

Hopefully someone from the industrial people starts to offer complete solutions to save power sometime. While there are made huge efforts to advertise Cpus and power supplies as electrically economical, Please have a look at chipsets and graphic cards... The problem that you won't get to far with the onboard graphic but don't won't a 100Watts for heating exists. Look at the Intel Atom, 4 Watt the processor, but over 25 for the Chipset. And why? Because of price presure...

when processor companies don't cater to green computing crowds and focus on gamers only, they get hated and thats bad for buisness. cpu companies should have a generous green desktop cpu 30W TDP line up, and a performance line up, excluding the green computing crowds is a very bad idea

I have Asus EPU on my 750i motherboard it has knocked a tidy little some off my electric bill. why do i need a 3.8 overclock while comp is idle. Theres a new version of Asus EPU my mate had on his P45 mobo.. works even better. Big thumbs up. all motherboard manufacturers should start introducing this. If you think about it theres alot of power hungry high end pcs in the world and its getting more the case. If all computers had this tech and kept improving it we can save alot of leccy and MONEY!

the computer component doesnt emmit CO2 by itself, but the truth is that you need electricity to run it, right? And mostly to get electricity (depends where you live) you will have to emitt some CO2 in the process.. thats how you translate lower power consumption into less CO2
