I completely dislike how so many people try to make something look good that has never been and will never be good. Fighting in another country is BAD. Fighting causes war and nobody will ever be able to find a reasonable argument pro-war. It's ridiculous to show the happy faces of the soldiers. Do you really think they had been happy? Think of it.
@s1lenzeify Look shithead, have you ever been drafted or enlisted in any branch of the Military? I am guessing you have been at home sitting on your butt playing video games. When drafted, you HAD NO CHOICE but to go, although I did enlist. You do your duty and pray you come back home alive (intact), and when you do, you get spit on by war activists, punch out one of those pricks, guess who goes to jail? God bless our fallen brothers on "The" Hill 937 in Ashau Valley.
The original 2nd Battalion "Strike Force" / 502nd Infantry (Airborne) became 2nd Battalion "Strike Force" / 502nd Infantry (Air Assault) in 1983 was re-flagged the 3rd Battalion "Battle Force" (- ♣) / 327th Infantry (Air Assault). Stuart Albert Gerlisky (1949-2000) was assigned to both. He was my recruiting sergeant that left Battle Force which became my 1st unit after E-7-1 from Fort Benning Georgia. Jodi Jean Sanders looked for me on Wednesday 17 April 1985 seven years after we first met.
@bingramtube : I played one show with my German band at LZ Sally in `69. Power came from a diesel generator and a truck was the stage. Dusty spot that was!
Do you remember my unit who had elements there:5/2 Artillery (automatic weapons self propelled) Quads Dusters Searchlights, now includes Vulcans and Hawk missiles? Deactivated a few years later, at the time this was going on, I was heading home after 22 months. I think there was at least one quad there which had a hard time declining and shooting down hill.
My grandpa was in the 101st airborne and he wanted to go to war really bad but he was only 16 and the army wouldnt let him...in this same year of 68 hmmm.....how wierd
I had the expressed Honor to serve with D. Co. 2/502nd Inf. (Air Assault) in the early 1980's. I graduated from the Air Assault School on the first try (Thank you Jesus!) and without incident. It wasn't as tough as Airborne School, but tough enough thank you very much! I was part of a Heavy Anti-Armor unit, typically making the other unit's very nervous whenever we were present. Respect and Fear, ah those were the day's...
Wow , what memories, i was in C co. 1st Bat.327th inf .101st Airborne my, God how I've tried to forget , but I can't, it's burned in my mind forever, but I'll never regret a single moment ,,,, Fellow Vets , God bless You All

I'm visiting the Vietnam memorial wall this summer 2011 God willing. first time and nervous. i have some names i wanna look up. people i've read about in books mostly. operation hastings, mutter's ridge, khe sanh, la drang, 173rd, 101st, Hue, con thien and a lot more. GOD BLESS YOU ALL . . .WE ARE FOREVER GREATFUL FOR YOUR SACRICE.
My Dad Carl Lee Johnson did two tours in vietnam and then died when i was six years old drunk drivin on fort Cambell army base. I am proud of his patriotism. He loved our country and was proud to serve in the infintry. I will miss him and respect him for answering the call of duty and hardships faced by all our men who were under appreciated for all their dedication .
Thanks for sharing, man... DO mean SOMETHIN'!! I was too short to DEROS with the 23rd Infantry - Americal (C Co., 1/20, 11 Bde) - got transferred up north to be a Delta Dealer with the 2/502 at the end of 1971 . . . . stood down with the 101st in early 1972.
Hey Kelly, thanks for your very kind words. A great film though it brought home some memories I had been trying to keep hidden. The date got to me, May 6, 1969 for exactly 7 days later on May 13th early in the morning, while with the 2/501, I was medivaced off of FSB Airborne after being overrun by the VA. We held that damn place though even after having spooky fire inside our own parimeter. I'm still super proud to be a Screamin' Eagle and always will be.
"Doc" (Bill) Riley was a recon medic with the O-Deuce '70-71 or 72. From upstate NY. We were good friends back then but lost contact. If anyone knows of him I'd appreciate a reply. Thanks, brothers.
Thanks for posting. I was a medic with the O-Deuce '71-72. Most of tour on FSB Normandy and Bastogne west of Phu Bai. "Doc" Cooper with Alpha Co. has a lot of photos at songbo.atspace(dot)com, some of me. Welcome home, brothers. God bless us all.--"Doc" Hatcher

My uncle Jamie Hall was a Sceaming Eagle and was killed in combat on November 30th 1968. If anybody has any info about him that would be great... Thanks.
Such patriotism... these are the type of guys I admire. Willing to give their life to their country, and not think twice about.
