Yeah, I had a ton of trouble with this laptop. Cooling problems from a month in, kept dying, sent it back, happened again. Pretty disappointing, probably would go for something different next time.
I bought this through XoticPC a few months ago, and it completely died on me about a month ago after having cooling/fan problems from day 1. After getting it back from repair, I found out that Sager didn't fix the problem at all, and their service team refused to acknowledge any problem on their part, even after I told them I had videos to prove it.
So, I'm inclined to trust Dell a little bit more, whose laptops have lasted me for 3+ fine years.
PS. Sager policy is great.. 30 day returns. Excellent laptops.. Service is so-so, was just on the phone and they kept saying "let me explain it to you" (please don't). Called 3 times, each time english was not so great.. But love their laptops.
This "review" sucks. You never see the whole screen from a distance. You don't see the screen folding, just bad cuts. What is the point of the out-of-focus closeups? And, you don't see it running something! Nearly every shot is out of focus.
2:12 you see those little blue lights on the corner of the display? Is there a way to switch those off? It would be slightly annoying to see them when watching a movie on it at night, or just playing a game in the dark.
i got it for $1914 with everything high without the OS and yes it is good on multi-tasking n while playing games as far as my one does good. however check more reviews. it is worth the money.
15" notebooks don't usually give you the option of a dual graphics card. If you want a Sager notebook with a dual graphics solution try the NP9850 with the 18.4" screen. Alienware also has a dual graphics solution with their larger 17" m17x.
Down here in Aus, Alienware doesn't offer two 4870's! When I'm getting my Alienware I'm getting it in the USA... a friend can ship it over :). So much cheaper to get it over there even with shipping and taxes!
Yeah, true. I just naturally assumed you were from the US since the majority of the commenting internet population is. I'm from Australia too by the way. I was planning on getting a Sager shipped here too, as it's cheaper than the resellers over here.
After owning this computer for just two days I finally understand why this video was shot without sound. Its because of the fan noise. They are noticiablely loud compared to the past laptops I've owned and no I'm not talking about during gaming, I'm talking about just being idle the fan still runs. Its a very annoying buzzing noise. I guess if you can put up with ithe noise this system is still a beast though.
im getting a alienware because i know the build quality is alot better plus you can have dual graphics cards.for some reason clevo laptops dont give you this option.
@NGT4LIFE dual graphic cards are better only at small amout of aplicanion.. most games dont support sli or crossfire... and sli or crossfire gives you only about 20 percent of graphic power more that single card... ...
Do not buy an Alienware, this thing will kill any 15 inch Alienware, and it's cheaper. SLI works well in benchmarks, but it provides a 20 % performance boost tops in games. Often it does nothing but drain your battery. Don't buy Alienware, their build quality is just awful. The hinge breaks almost instantly.
Is that why my Alienware which I carry around frequently to classes and such is perfectly fine still? The build quality is solid and the hinges are extremely firm. You might be thinking of the older models which have the plastic casing. The current Alienware M15x has a magnesium alloy casing.
Sweet, I just bought this laptop and will get it in a couple of weeks. Whew, glad I chose this over the alienware m15x (not that its a bad computer), but I saved a lot of money and got the GTX 280m.
I like my 18.4 inch laptop.. but I would take that same design in a larger frame all day... it is simply one of the cleanest looking frames around.. add whote keys for the Domino affect.. even looks good that way... Now Justin? will you please cross fire or sli a real i7? Please?
Yeah, I had a ton of trouble with this laptop. Cooling problems from a month in, kept dying, sent it back, happened again. Pretty disappointing, probably would go for something different next time.

Alien just sell the logo.
And mac is for designers and for people who are engaged in music publishing, video and photography
What can know a drainer like you?
Tucienputamadre 1 year ago
@henryguitarhero Switch the words "SAGER" and "ALIENWARE"
I would never buy an AW laptop, but Sager? Any day of any week of any month of any year.

I would if i didnt have to RMA after 3 days of usage. It really has alot of problems. And some people would prefer a 15.6" laptop.

All alienware's were previously made by Clevo or Uniwill. just pimped with lighting ect.. Not sure since the dell take over though..

Yep, the Clevo M980NU is the one with dual graphics. The M17x is actually better though - two 4870's in Crossfire will beat GTX 280M's in SLI.

But the point still stands that Alienware is the best out there. Best build quality, cooling system, and optimization leads to best performance.
