It's disgusting the way 'public figures' are treated...just because she sings, why should her whole life become 'news'? It's no excuse to stalk people. After listening to this, I watched Lupone's version of the song on youtube: very professional, very polished, very sophisticated, but also very mannered, very calculated, and rather affected. The same was true of Elaine Paige's rendition (who I had never heard of before). What's remarkable about Susan's performance is how simple, natural, sincere, and genuine it is. And she maintains the ability to to get the message of the song across in an unaffected way in the midst of all that pandemonium.
